Chapter 77: The Phoenix's Hot Potato Prize

"System, commence full assimilation," Yun Che declared firmly. He settled into a meditative posture, reminiscent of the hibernation state he had entered previously to access his inner world—a realm conducive to focused cultivation without external interruptions. However, this time, he maintained the soul link with the other spirit, ensuring that their connection remained unbroken, much like before. With his consciousness attuned to the inner world, he prepared to unlock the profound secrets contained within the Phoenix's inheritance crystal.

-----------------------

[Ding… Administration permission acquired.]

[Initiating Fusion….]

[Fusion Successful.]

[Ding… Host bloodline has successfully assimilated with the Phoenix Bloodline.]

[New Bloodline acquired: Phoenix Bloodline.]

[Host's soul has fully assimilated the Phoenix Soul and Origin Energy.]

----------------------

With the fusion process completed, a radiant golden mark appeared on Yun Che's forehead, glowing softly to signify the success of the integration. As he observed the mark, he recalled the Phoenix mark he had read about in the system's database—a golden mark indicated the selection of new successors, much like himself and Feng Xu'er. Though he had yet to meet her, he decided to seek her out earlier, perhaps during her own trial, with the intention of guiding her toward becoming a complete inheritor.

Inside his inner world, the Phoenix Soul and Origin Energy converged to form a colossal sun, capturing the attention of his spiritual companions. Initially vast, the sun began to shrink gradually, taking on the unmistakable shape of a majestic Phoenix. If Yun Che had witnessed this transformation, he would have been astonished, for the Phoenix bore a striking resemblance to one of the creatures from his games in the real world.

The Phoenix stands tall with a sleek, streamlined body covered in brilliant, fiery feathers that constantly flicker and burn with an otherworldly flame. Its wings are expansive and grand, resembling those of a mythical bird of prey. These wings are a striking blend of vivid oranges, deep reds, and bright yellows, creating a mesmerizing and dynamic display of flames in motion.

Its head is adorned with a distinctive, mask-like visage, with piercing, glowing eyes that burn with an intense white-hot fire, giving it a sense of both wisdom and power. A flowing, ethereal mane of flames cascades down from its head, adding to its regal and mystical appearance.

The Phoenix's body is marked with intricate patterns and runes that glow with an intense inner fire, creating a fiery, radiant aura around it. Its talons are sharp and formidable, perfect for grasping and carrying its prey. When it moves, the Phoenix leaves a trail of swirling embers and sparks, making it look as if it's floating or gliding gracefully through the air.

With a triumphant cry, the Phoenix announced its rebirth to the world. Suddenly, three golden-red magatama crystals materialized around its neck, orbiting gracefully. Upon closer inspection, these three blood-red crystals rotated in perfect harmony, signifying the amount of Phoenix blood Yun Che had inherited from the spirit.

In the vast expanse of the inner world, every spirit's gaze was fixed upon the radiant spectacle of the Phoenix's rebirth. Every spirit, that is, except for the Zangetsu duo. Hoyuu, in a flash of light, vanished, returning to his realm. His absence was palpable; the playful teasing and mischief he brought were now missing. Old man Zangetsu, on the other hand, stood pensive, already crafting a training regimen tailored to Yun Che's newly awakening Quincy powers.

Amidst the hushed awe, Shirayuki's voice broke the silence, her eyes reflecting the fiery dance above, "Seems Milord has acquired a new companion."

Mizu, her voice bubbling with childhood enthusiasm, added, "It's like we have our own pet bird now, Kaze-chan!"

Kaze echoed her sentiment with a vibrant laugh, "A pet that fills the realm with such lights, Mizu-chan!"

The Phoenix, sensing the spirits' admiration, soared through the sky of the inner world. Each flap of its expansive wings left a trail of gleaming fire, illuminating the realm further. It revelled in its new home, dancing amidst the clouds, its flames offering a gentle warmth to the spirits below. For them, the Phoenix was not just a symbol of rebirth but a beacon of hope and comfort.

Yun Che, although engrossed in the changes and notifications flooding his senses, remained unaware of the celebratory ambience in his inner world. The journey of fusion was still unfolding, and he was keenly focused on absorbing its myriad lessons.

[Ding…Congratulations on achieving the achievement 'The Rebirth of the Phoenix,' Obtain the inheritance of the Phoenix Legacy. Experience points +50000 and SP points +7500.]

[New Frame Unlocked]

The frame shows Chibi Yun Che being chased by a firey bird as soon as it hatched.

--------------------------------

Yun Che couldn't help but marvel at the newfound power within him. "The Hyapporankan, Shuuhei Hisagi's signature Kido. This could save me the trouble of acquiring them later." Memories from the anime flooded back to him, vivid recollections of Shuuhei Hisagi employing this technique to deftly subdue opponents without causing them harm. The hexagonal rods had a remarkable ability to adapt to the user's intent, enabling them to immobilize adversaries with precision. Only those possessing a strong body and unyielding will could harness such potent capabilities. Yun Che couldn't wait to put them to the test, eager to experiment with their abilities once he returned to Jasmine's side.

[Ding… The host is now Level 65: Fifth Level of the Sky Profound Realm.]

-----------------------------------------

Yun Che immediately channelled the flying technique into his body. After successfully breaking through, he began to levitate in his inner world, manipulating the skill with ease. He had cultivated similar skills during his travels through various worlds, which had honed his proficiency. Within moments, he mastered the technique, gliding gracefully through his inner world.

As he soared, Yun Che couldn't help but think about Hyourinmaru, Hitsugaya Toushirou's renowned Zanpakuto. A grin crept onto his face as he envisioned mastering it. He had always dreamt of wielding its powerful Bankai form, and now that he had access to it, he couldn't wait to test its capabilities.

As Yun Che delved deeper into his knowledge of Hyourinmaru, he discovered that the Zanpakuto had two distinct forms, each contingent on the maturity of its wielder. The original form, accessible to those still in their early stages of mastery, granted the ability to assume the shape of a majestic ice dragon. This form came with icy gauntlets, adorned with razor-sharp claws resembling the fearsome talons of the ice dragon. To complete the ensemble, one would sprout a pair of imposing ice dragon wings from their back, while three enchanting four-petaled ice flowers would bloom around them.

However, Yun Che knew that he had already reached a level of mastery that allowed him access to Hyourinmaru's true potential. In this matured state, he could harness the Zanpakuto's power to the fullest extent, moulding it into whatever manifestation he desired. The possibilities seemed boundless, and he couldn't wait to explore the depths of his newfound abilities.

"Ah, Hyourinmaru, the magnificent ice dragon," he mused to himself. "I'll train relentlessly to unlock its true potential. And who knows, with my newfound ability to fly, maybe its Bankai can manifest wings as well." With determined resolve, he continued to focus on the notifications.

-------------------------------

[Ding… Host's body is now compatible to cultivate the World Ode of the Phoenix.]

[Ding… The system has detected an incomplete version of the World Ode of the Phoenix. This art contains only the Fifth and Sixth realms of the original art. The system can assist the host in cultivating it successfully without any side effects, but the host can only display half of its original strength.]

----------------------------------

Yun Che knew the first four arts were taken away by the other phoenix spirit when it ejected itself from this location. However, since he had the system, it might be possible to restore them. "Wait a moment, System, can you scan my memories for the missing moves?"

-----------------------------------

[Ding… It's the same situation as with the Ice Phoenix God Investiture Canon. Host's memories only contain the written words of the full cultivation art.]

[Ding… The system has analyzed the situation and offers two potential solutions.]

-----------------------------------

Yun Che's eyes twinkled with anticipation, hoping the system would offer a path less trodden. "Alright, system, hit me with those options."

----------------------------------------

[Ding… First, the host can venture to the Divine Phoenix Empire, seeking the other half of the Phoenix Spirit. As the spirit split in two, the missing parts lie within its domain. By uniting with this spirit, the host can access the first four arts.]

[Second, the host has the unique ability of the Sharingan, which can mimic and learn abilities. With it, the host can replicate the first four stages from any cultivator who has mastered them.]

-------------------------------------------

Yun Che rubbed his chin thoughtfully. While the Sharingan was a powerful tool, the thrill of a genuine adventure tugged at his heart. "Copying the arts feels like taking a shortcut. But seeking out the other half of the Phoenix Spirit... now that's an adventure worth embarking on."

He then decisively said, "I'll take the first option, system. Set the mission for me."

------------------------------------------------

[Ding… Mission selected: Seek out the Divine Phoenix Empire and reclaim the lost arts by uniting with the other half of the Phoenix Spirit.

Note: To ensure the mission's integrity, the host's Sharingan Copy Mode will be restricted from copying the World Ode of the Phoenix outside of the designated trial areas.]

--------------------------------------------------

A dark, playful grin spread across Yun Che's face as memories of past encounters with the Divine Phoenix Empire surfaced. "The Divine Phoenix Empire, huh? We do have unfinished business. This will be interesting."

Gathering his resolve, he ordered, "System, let's begin cultivating the fifth and sixth realms of the art while we prepare for the journey ahead."

-------------------------------------------------

[Ding… However, please be cautioned that the advanced arts cannot be executed to their full potential without mastering the first four stages. While there won't be any side effects in executing them, the strength of the fifth and sixth arts will be limited to 50% of their true power. Additionally, each execution of these advanced arts will require one phoenix essence blood, and the more powerful the attack, the greater the amount of blood essence needed. Once the host successfully cultivates the first four arts, this blood essence requirement will be removed. The system can regenerate one blood essence every 10 minutes using the Divine Medicine Manual and the Great Way of the Buddha. Currently, the host possesses three essence blood.]

----------------------------

Yun Che carefully absorbed the information provided. The cooldown and blood essence requirement certainly added a layer of complexity to these advanced arts. He couldn't help but compare this situation to what he had read about the previous Yun Che's struggles. "A ten-minute cooldown is far more manageable than the three-month regeneration period of the old Yun Che. These fifth and sixth-stage arts must be incredibly potent to justify such costs. Well, there's no turning back now. Let's get started."

---------------------------

[Ding… Cultivation complete… The host has successfully cultivated the Fifth Stage - Empyrean Dance of the Phoenix Wing and the Sixth Stage - Star Scorching Demon Lotus.]

[Fifth Realm - Empyrean Dance of the Phoenix Wing]

[Description: Empyrean Dance of the Phoenix Wing; the phoenix fire skill recorded in the fifth stage of the World Ode of the Phoenix. When mobilized, wings of flame would rise from one's back and rush at the enemy in a bold and powerful assault, to then trigger a large-scale flame explosion.

--------------

[Sixth Realm - Star Scorching Demon Lotus]

[Incomplete version - Spreading layers and layers of blazing Phoenix flame, engulfing all in a radius of sixty meters, creating the illusion of a beautiful flame lotus in full bloom.]

[Complete version - A massive ball of flame detonates, covering an area spanning several hundred meters, releasing over one hundred fiery petals in all directions.]

---------------------------

As he felt the new power coursing through him, Yun Che couldn't help but grin with satisfaction. His body now felt complete, filled with the essence of the phoenix bloodline and the newly acquired arts. However, the nagging thought of the missing half of his soul still lingered.

Yun Che recalled from his previous knowledge that the first half of the soul had separated from this half and created its own trial area within the Divine Phoenix Empire. It had disagreed with the decision to curse the bloodline carriers after the incineration event a thousand years ago. Ultimately, it was destined to belong to the next chosen girl, Feng Xu'er. He didn't want to snatch it from her, but he needed that missing half to complete his phoenix soul.

Lost in thought, Yun Che decided to consult the system once more. "System, is it possible to duplicate the soul so that it can be given to another person as well?"

--------------------------------

[Ding… The phoenix soul within the host's body has already merged with the system and cannot be duplicated. However, if the host manages to locate the other half of the soul, the system can complete the soul and create a duplicate, allowing the host to transfer a copy of it to another person.]

--------------------------

A triumphant smile spread across Yun Che's face as he realized the possibilities. "Ah, perfect! It seems I can share this power with Feng Xu'er in the future without any issues. This just keeps getting better."

----------------------------

[Ding… Host's body and level had surpassed Level 61 compatible to support the third art of the Heretic God Arts.]

---------------------------

"No way!!!" Yun Che's excitement surged through him once more. He knew he needed to level up 30 more times before he could fully master the Heretic God Arts. With this unlock happening at Level 61, he couldn't help but speculate about the possibilities of his next breakthrough, likely in the Sovereign Profound Realm.

------------------------------

[Ding... The system has unlocked the Third Gate of the Heretic God Berserk Arts: Purgatory. This art empowers the host with a staggering 75% increase in combat prowess. However, both previous gates must be opened for the host to utilize them.]

--------------------------------

His enthusiasm brimming over, Yun Che thought, "Awesome, the third art. That means..."

---------------------------------

[Ding... The host can now wield the Third Art of the Heretic God Arts: Destroying Sky Decimating Earth. This is an enhanced version of the first art, enabling the host to unleash a devastating area-of-effect burst attack. It comes at the cost of immense energy consumption, though."

[Ding… The host's Sharingan has upgraded to three tomoe. Now, the host can harness a stronger version of the primary Sharingan ability: Illusion Casting. This allows the host to project illusions into the opponent's mind, distracting and disorienting them. The effectiveness of the illusion depends on the opponent's willpower, making it less effective against stronger foes.]

[Ding… The host's final tomoe has unlocked the third hidden art of the Sharingan: The Will of the Conqueror. This power allows the host to intensify and expand fear within an opponent's heart, potentially causing them to lose consciousness. However, this Will can only affect those below the host's cultivation realm, temporarily staggering those in higher realms.]

---------------------------------------

"Cool, isn't this like Haoshoku No Haki? Amplifying fear in an opponent's heart. I wonder what might happen if I obtain the powers of the Dragon God in the future. There are so many possibilities," Yun Che mused. The array of newfound abilities overwhelmed him, and he realized he needed real-life targets to test and refine them.

He muttered to himself, "Looks like I'll have to return to the real world soon and find some live targets to practice on. These Heretic God Arts and Sharingan abilities open up a world of opportunities."

Yun Che decided to experiment with some of his new powers before reentering the arena. Some abilities required live targets to witness their full effects. With a final thought, he powered down his abilities and returned to the arena, ready to continue his journey of growth and discovery.

-------------------------------------

When Yun Che returned from his meditation, he was met with an astonishing sight. Jasmine was striking terror into the spirit of the phoenix with her divine soul. Even though her cultivation was low, her divine soul was something the spirit couldn't contend with.

Jasmine, her eyes blazing, shouted at the trembling phoenix spirit, "Hmph, you're just a splinter of a soul. Trying to suppress this princess is tantamount to seeking death."

Yun Che, unable to resist chiming in, coughed discreetly to grab both Jasmine's and the spirit's attention. "So, what in the world just happened here?"

Jasmine noticed him, her demeanor shifting from ferocious to casual. "Oh, you're back. That was quick."

Yun Che nonchalantly shrugged and replied, "Instant cultivation, you know. So, what exactly went down?"

Jasmine proceeded to narrate the events that had transpired during his absence. She had discovered that the Spirit of the Phoenix had established a trial here, dating back to the time when the Heretic God had created this very planet. As one of the Heretic God's companions, the spirit had resided here alongside him and other spirits. Even after the Heretic God's passing, it remained here for millions of years, awaiting the appearance of the Heretic God's heir. The revelation that Yun Che was the true heir had taken the phoenix's soul by surprise, and it became clear that his encounter with this trial was no coincidence.

Jasmine also mentioned the separation of the Phoenix's spirit into two, a detail that elicited no reaction from Yun Che, who was already aware of it through the system.

Curious about his current cultivation, Jasmine inquired, "So, how's your cultivation going?"

Yun Che proceeded to share the astonishing gains he had made in his mind's world, much to the shock of both Jasmine and the phoenix spirit. The World Ode of the Phoenix typically took a genius cultivator nearly a month to fully master, but Yun Che had achieved it within just half an hour.

Jasmine sighed and playfully slapped her forehead. "Sigh, you really are overpowered." Yun Che couldn't help but laugh at her remark; he had been overpowered from the very beginning.

The Spirit of the Phoenix, observing Yun Che with newfound respect, added, "To think that the Heretic God's heir possesses such power. I have no regrets about entrusting you with my abilities. No one has ever mastered the art in just half an hour."

Yun Che didn't respond to the phoenix's praise, as he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

"Hey, you bastard! Where have you been? That lady really scared the living daylights out of me." Kon, Yun Che's plushy lion companion, leapt onto his shoulder, apparently having fainted in the presence of the phoenix spirit.

Rolling his eyes at the resilient plushy, Yun Che was about to reply when another voice called out to him.

"Ah, Milord, you've finally responded," Shirayuki's voice resounded with a celestial grace. "I've been diligently trying to reach you for the past half hour, but alas, my attempts were met with silence. Please, enter the inner world at once; an urgent matter demands your attention."

Yun Che's curiosity was piqued by the ethereal quality of Shirayuki's voice. With a sense of purpose, he readied himself to step back into the inner world, guided by her celestial call, as a sense of intrigue and anticipation filled him.

Yun Che turned to Jasmine and said, "Ah, alright. Shirayuki has asked me to enter the inner world for a moment. Hey, Jasmine, do you want to come along?"

Jasmine declined his invitation. "No, I still have some questions to be answered. I'll join you once I'm done."

The phoenix spirit, now humbled, offered its cooperation. "I will be here to answer any questions you may have."

Yun Che then decided to take Kon to the inner world to introduce him to the others, with a warning to Jasmine not to frighten the phoenix spirit too much. Afterwards, he said, "Alright, System, initiate Jinzen Log-In."

With that, Yun Che's consciousness drifted into his inner world. As soon as he arrived, a giant fiery force crashed into him.

"What in the world is that?!" Kon, still on Yun Che's shoulder, buried his plushy lion head, expecting the worst. He hadn't been prepared for the fiery object that collided with Yun Che, sending him sprawling as if he'd been hit by a truck.

"Guaaarrrkkk!!!" Yun Che let out a cry of anguish as he was slammed to the ground.

"Damn it! First Mizu and Kaze, then Saru and Hebi, and now someone decides to ram into me at full force?" Yun Che groaned as he slowly opened his eyes. To his astonishment, none of his spirits were responsible for the collision. It had been a giant fiery bird. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a Phoenix.

"Squeak!!!" The Phoenix let out a joyful roar upon seeing Yun Che in the inner world. But Yun Che was too stunned to react. The presence of a phoenix in his inner world was inexplicable. What surprised him even more was that it resembled the Phoenix from a famous game in every detail, from its feathers to its horns and legs.

Doubting the reality of the situation, Yun Che decided to consult the system for clarification.

-----------------------

[Ding…. The phoenix's soul and Origin Energy received by the host have given rise to a phoenix within the host's inner world. This symbolizes the host's authority as the heir to the Phoenix Legacy.]

[Ding… New Achievement Unlocked: "Fiery Feathered Friend"]

[New Frame Unlocked]

A Chibi version of Yun Che is comically launched into the air by the playful phoenix, reminiscent of being struck by a truck.

--------------------

As Yun Che slowly rose to his feet, he found himself facing the happy Phoenix, which was now affectionately rubbing its fiery head against his body, akin to a contented cat. Surprisingly, the intense heat from the Phoenix's fiery feathers didn't faze him at all. This majestic creature had become a living representation of the powers he had gained from the Phoenix Legacy. According to the system, it could even serve as a summon.

"So, that's how it is," Yun Che remarked thoughtfully, recalling how the Great Way of the Buddha had manifested as a pagoda in his inner world. "Impressive."

Upon closer examination, Yun Che realized that the Phoenix was rather large, standing at the same height as him. He couldn't help but wonder why it had taken on the appearance of the Phoenix from Dota 2. Nevertheless, he had to admit that the fiery bird looked incredibly cool. The Phoenix's body emitted no discernible heat, and he could comfortably touch its golden feathers. The Phoenix seemed to relish his gentle caresses, expressing its delight by flapping its magnificent golden wings.

Suddenly, from a distance, Yun Che heard two cheerful voices approaching. It was his adorable Miko priestesses Zanpakuto spirits, Mizu and Kaze, who exclaimed in unison, "Onii-chan!!!"

They rushed towards him, hugging him tightly and playfully jinxing with each other. "Onii-chan, we missed you. Thank you for bringing us a pet," they chimed in sweet harmony.

Yun Che couldn't help but smile warmly as he ruffled their soft hair. "I missed you too, all of you," he spoke affectionately, his voice filled with genuine fondness. As the other spirits joined in, his inner world felt more alive and harmonious than ever before.

"And Phoenix is not a pet; she's like you—a spirit. Who's a good boy?" He extended his hand to the Phoenix, who playfully nodded in response.

Shirayuki, standing nearby, smiled gently at the heartwarming scene and added, "Actually, Milord, she's a girl."

Yun Che blinked in surprise at the revelation, his eyes turning to the Phoenix, who confirmed her gender with a dignified nod. The Dota 2 reference about the Phoenix laying eggs as a taunt came to mind, making the situation oddly logical. He simply shrugged, brushing aside any gender-related thoughts, and continued to enjoy the warm camaraderie of his spirits in his inner world.

His Zanpakuto spirits, ever eager to share stories, recounted how the Phoenix had come into existence and how much it enjoyed soaring through the inner world. The Phoenix would often playfully carry Mizu and Kaze on its back, taking them for thrilling flights. While it couldn't vocalize words, it could nod or shake its head in response to questions, making it easy to communicate with.

Just then, Kon, the plushy lion companion, emerged from his hiding spot and approached Yun Che. However, as he laid eyes on the bevy of pretty spirits, his perverted instincts kicked in, and he leapt toward their bosoms. His escapade was quickly halted by Hebi's tail, which restrained him before he could go any further.

Kon protested loudly while still restrained by Hebi. "Ehh, what are you doing with the great Kon-sama? Let me go!" He struggled, but Hebi's grip was unyielding.

The rest of the spirits, observing Kon with curiosity, turned their attention to Yun Che. Shirayuki was the first to inquire, "Milord? What is this creature?"

Yun Che chuckled as he explained, "Oh, this is Kon. He's a new summon that came from the cubes. Technically, he's the Winged Golden Lion God, but at the moment, he's more like a plushy doll."

To Mizu and Kaze, the Zanpakuto spirits, Kon appeared to be more like a talking doll than anything else.

Mizu observed Kon filled with curiosity. To her, Kon's plushy exterior resembled a doll, and his ability to converse was a charming and unexpected surprise. She couldn't help but find his presence endearing like a beloved toy come to life.

Kaze rustled and swirled with excitement, finding Kon's talking plushy form quite amusing. Kon's unique nature as a plushy companion was a source of fascination for her.

As for the other spirits, they too had their own perspectives on Kon's nature, whether it was his representation as the Winged Golden Lion God, his perverted antics, or his playful doll-like qualities. The spirits nodded in understanding, and Hebi released Kon. However, Yun Che sent Kon a message through his kido art.

"Behave yourself around these girls. They may appear sweet, but each of them is capable of delivering quite a punch if you attempt anything inappropriate."

Kon sweat-dropped at the warning, realizing that his perverted tendencies were under strict control even in this world. Jasmine had already frightened him enough, and he knew that these spirits could be equally formidable if provoked.

Kon was about to voice a complaint when he noticed Mizu, Kaze, and the Phoenix eyeing him with curiosity.

Fear shot down Kon's spine, figuratively speaking. "What? What do you want from me?"

Mizu and Kaze approached him excitedly, their eyes shining with innocent curiosity. "Onii-chan, can we play with him?"

Yun Che agreed with a chuckle. "Sure, go ahead."

Kon cried out in protest. "Ehh!!! I'm a lion, not a child's plaything."

Yun Che couldn't help but tease him, "Well, technically, you are now. Good luck, my friend."

With that, Mizu and Kaze began chasing Kon playfully, and the Phoenix joined in the fun, following behind the two little girls. Meanwhile, the other spirits observed the amusing spectacle, and Yun Che couldn't help but shake his head at Kon's antics. It seemed that even in this world, his perverted behaviour was held in check.
