Chapter 34: Dinner date (2)

We had finally arrived at the restaurant. The lights finally showed me where we were. Surprisingly there was a single light on in the car park. The restaurant was near the seaside. The sea looked so pretty as the sun began to set. "Why are we here?" I asked. Qi Yan smiled and replied " your mum said that you liked seafood so I thought to bring you here. The seafood here is fresh. They're caught straight from the sea and brought to the restaurant to be eaten," I nodded at his explanation. As we entered Qi Yan turned toward the receptionist to register our booking and I looked around curiously. The whole place was decorated well. There were three levels and you could even eat on the balcony. Many people chose to sit on the ground floor or the balcony as it overlooked the sea. Around the restaurant, there was an aquarium that was connected. From all three floors. I wonder how they did that. It must have cost a fortune. No wonder everyone wanted to be here. The receptionist had found our booking and was gesturing for us to follow her. "Can you wait a moment?" I asked as she nodded. I dragged Qi Yan to the aquarium and took a picture with the two of us smiling sweetly. He laughed as we looked over the pictures. In one he was pretending to kiss me and I didn't even notice it. Finally, we were able to go to our seats. We were located outside right beside the sea.

Qi Yan pulled my seat and helped me into it. I thank him quickly as he sat down and handed me the menu. I looked around and asked, "what's with the atmosphere?" Qi Yan looked around and shook his head. Every table was filled with couples on their date. Was this a well-known place for couples? I looked carefully at the menu and saw that most of the food was expensive. Qi's family has money. "How about we share a meal?" Qi Yan asked. I nodded in agreement as I don't know what to choose. "How about 226,". 226 consist of various seafood like salmon, crab, lobsters, prawns etc. It also had some rice noodles on the side. Qi Yan considered for a moment and nodded. He began to call the waiter over. However, the man sitting at the table next to us knelt on his knees and proposed to his female companion. I glanced at them longingly. The last time I and Qi Yan I's relationship wasn't that good so I never had the feeling of someone proposing to me. I wonder what that feeling was like. As I had these thoughts people around me were chanting " Marry him. Marry him". If Qi Yan was ever gonna propose to him I hope he does it when there are only the two of us. I don't wanna feel pressure to say yes. However, the lady companion seemed very happy and answered yes immediately.

The waiter came over to take our order and I listened to Qi Yan's voice as he quickly ordered for the both of us. He had ordered a tropical fruit juice for me and some green tea for him. "You must've taken some lesson with my parents, you know what I want to drink," I teased as he nodded.

There was a waiter who came to every table asking if they wanted to buy some pink roses. Qi Yan brought the whole bouquet for me and asked "Pink roses are ok right?" I nodded at his consideration. Qi Yan must have remembered I don't like red flowers/ roses. We finished our meal with a lively conversation. We were talking about our own dating experiences. Qi Yan had never dated before. However, Luo Wen Ning wasn't my first crush... After dinner, Qi Yan ordered a sweet cheesecake and we shared it. At first, I cut it in half just to see if there was a ring in it. However, when there wasn't I seemed to feel disappointed yet happy all the same. Qi Yan laughed at me and I suddenly felt very embarrassed...
