Vivan is Back

"Angel, Ruhi, Sonia come and help me with the cooking," Samia said and took the ingredients with her to the kitchen, leaving Felix with others to decorate the room.

"You wash these vegetables, You cut them," Samia instructed everyone and gave them different tasks to do.

She added all the vegetables and cooked them after mashing them in a large pot which is often used to cook for a large number of people. After they were cooked, she added all kinds of spices to make them taste better.

Soon, a fragrance was spread all over the house.

Samia added butter to the Bhaji at the end. It makes the Bhaji more delicious.

She, with the kid's help, roasted the Pav.

In the end, the dinner was ready by the evening with everyone's help.

Meanwhile, Everyone was excitedly telling about Samia and the pranks they pulled off with her.

" Once she wore the costume of a ghost and with a candle in her hand scared all the kids. She was in her high school at that time." Elina the oldest amongst the kids shared.

Their endless storytelling was interrupted by the ringing of Felix's phone.

He was notified that the cake has arrived.

They set up the cake in the living room. The whole room was decorated with balloons. Happy Birthday written with Metallic Balloons was stick on the wall behind them.

Samia came out just as the cake was set up.

Everyone thought of cutting the cake before eating.

Just as they were about to cut the cake, they were interrupted by someone. "Are you guys going to cut the cake without me?"

"Vivan?" Samia asked with uncertainty.

"Of Course, it's me. I am not dead, so it's. impossible for my ghost to come yet." Vivan said.

Samia smiled at him. He didn't change a bit. Vivan was the only kid who was a year older than her. Making them the oldest amongst everyone.

Vivan always wanted to become a doctor. After High school, he got the opportunity to study abroad because of his talent. He was very reluctant at first but eventually agreed after much persuasion. He went abroad 7 years back.

Samia thought about how long was it that she saw him again, maybe more than two decades.

They hugged each other. Few kids recognized him and others were very young to remember any of that. But they were still very happy seeing one more person has joined them.

Felix looked at the scene in front of him and felt stuffy. He didn't like the man who was standing in front of Samia. He couldn't understand why he was feeling this way.

Samia finally looked in Felix's direction. She remembered that she hadn't introduced both of them.

"Vivan this is my friend Felix. And Felix this is Vivan, he grew up with me." They nodded at each other.

"Sam, You guys were cutting the cake. Let's not wait anymore."

Felix was unable to understand the anger which was brewing inside him. More so when Vivan called her Sam.

Everyone started singing the birthday song pulling Felix out of his thoughts.

They cut the cake together and set up the table for dinner. Everyone was hungry after a whole day of playing.

Felix felt that he would really lose control tonight, so he excused himself and went to the backyard.

Everyone went into their room to complete their homework, they had to resume going to school from tomorrow.

Samia and Vivan went into their room to catch up.

They still had a room here, in case anyone of them came to stay.

Vivan started telling her about his life abroad once they were in the room.

"You haven't changed a bit," Samia said.

"Are you complimenting me?" Vivan said with a look of disbelief. "That's quite rare."

Samia was amused.

"Speaking of change, you have become so gorgeous. How many hearts did you broke in your University then." Vivan asked.

"A lot," Samia answered.

"As expected of you. So how's your boyfriend treating you." He asked the latter part with seriousness.

"He's not my boyfriend." Samia clarified.

"It can't be Sam. The way he was looking at me as if he wanted to kill me. He was clearly jealous." Vivan said.

"I don't think so. You must be imagining things." Samia said. She thought Felix wouldn't like her that much.

"So you like him," Vivan said with certainty.

"What made you think that," Samia said.

"Who do you think I am? I have known you Since you were a small kid that would run behind me for candies." Vivan said.

"You are just a year older than me but you are making it sound as if you brought me up." Samia retorted.

"I did brought you up. " Vivan said.

Samia felt there was no end to this argument.

"I won't say anything anymore. You're already an adult and I know you are smart enough to make your own decisions." Vivan said.

Samia wanted to deny him so badly.

When did she become so blind to not see all this?

She thought that it was true when people said that it takes darkness to appreciate the light. Only when you go through sadness you will truly understand how blissful you were.

Samia's eyes teared up.

She didn't hold back this time. Vivan was like an older brother to her. He was her family.

She cried for a long time in Vivan's embrace.

He was shocked at first but did not asked Samia anything. If she wanted to tell him she will.

They always tell each other if they are in some trouble that they can't handle by themselves.

" Ok stop crying now. How old are you to cry like that? You won't look beautiful anymore if you kept on crying." Vivan coaxed her.

Samia laughed at that.

Who was the one who used to tell her when they were kids that she should cry more? Her face will look cuter after crying.

He was a mischievous kid back then.

Samia knew that no matter what happens Vivan will always have her back. They had a strong bond.
