The stadium was filled to capacity. The euphoria of the crowd reached its peak when Zara and the angel Kalilisil stood in the middle of the arena. While Zara was known for her dark witch magic, Kalilisil was a skilled ether weaver, able to create weapons and protective items from the ether, pure energy.
Kalilisil closed her eyes and concentrated deeply. Suddenly, two golden swords materialized in her hands, shining and sharp. With a deft flick of her wrist, she sent the swords toward Zara, who quickly reacted with a surprised look. Dark shadows in the form of dead trees materialized in front of her, and a net appeared in the heart of those trees, trapping the golden swords. The net pulsed as it absorbed the magic from the swords.
"Show yourself, Nightmare," Zara whispered with a determined look. The witch magic within her awoke and used the Dream Catcher spell to absorb the enemy magic and form its own attack from it.
The golden energy of the swords was transformed into dark green and black, forming into new swords that were now heading straight for Kalilisil. Kalilisil, taken aback and unprepared for this counterattack, could not dodge in time. The dark swords struck her, and she was knocked out.
The audience erupted in cheers. Zara, the witch, had won against a powerful ether weaver.
The glowing stadium grew even brighter as the goddess Amanda rose. Her brilliant white robe reflected the light coming from the magic lanterns, and her eyes sparkled with joy.
"A grand finale!" exclaimed Amanda, her voice echoing throughout the stadium, filled with power and warmth. "Let's celebrate Zara, who showed us her impressive magic and strategic brilliance today!"
A thunderous applause rose from the audience, their appreciation for Zara unmistakable. However, Amanda did not leave it at that. She extended her other hand and pointed at Kalilisil.
"And let us not forget the brave Kalilisil, who has so masterfully presented the art of Aetherweaving to us. Every battle needs two strong opponents, and today we were fortunate to witness two of the best."
After the crowd also paid their respects to Kalilisil, Amanda walked up to Zara and grabbed her hand. With a majestic movement, she raised Zara's hand in the air for all to see. The entire stadium erupted in cheers.
The sky was suddenly lit up by a gigantic fireworks display. Sparks of all colors shot into the sky and exploded in fantastic patterns. And then, in a final, spectacular moment, the sparks and magical flames formed into Zara's name, glorious and sparkling for all to see.
It was not only a victory for Zara, but also a message from Goddess Amanda to all present: Greatness and talent should always be celebrated, no matter where they come from.
Amanda left the stage with the two young girls and accompanied Zara to Mortis' box. There Lumina was waiting for her daughter, visibly moved and full of joy. When she saw Zara, she took her tightly in her arms. She watched Amanda with a sinister smile. Amanda, visibly impatient, separated the two and pulled Lumina to her. Upset, she asked, "How did you manage to get this child to use such powerful spells with the bracelet that actually only creates copies of spells you imagine?"
Lumina smiled mischievously and replied, "As always, I'm one step ahead of you, sister. Think for a moment about how you created the bangles and why. Your bangles are just prototypes of the ones I created long ago." In an instant, dozens of bangles appeared with powerful magic that seemed far more powerful. "Do you really think I would send my daughter into the world unprepared? She has received the best education from me. And when it comes to children, I'm always ahead of you. So how could you ever understand these maternal feelings?"
Amanda was beside herself with anger, but she restrained herself. With an angry stomp and in a fit of defiance, she turned and shouted, "This is why I didn't like playing with you when we were kids, you witch!" before leaving the box.
Lumina, still amused by Amanda's childish outburst, hugged Zara tighter and pulled her with her to one of the comfortable sofas that were ready for the audience in the box. The lush, velvet-covered piece of furniture felt soft and inviting, and the two women settled down on it.
"Not even a victory is granted to us witches without drama." She looked down lovingly at her daughter. "But it doesn't matter. We know what we're worth, and we don't let anyone keep us down."
Zara chuckled softly and leaned against her mother. "It's a shame that not everyone can see our awesomeness. But I guess that only makes us stronger."
Lumina laughed softly and stroked Zara's head. "That's right, my dear. It only makes us stronger."
Soon, they both turned their attention to the arena, where the tournament of melee fighters was about to begin. Strong applause rang out as the first fighters took the stage. Zara couldn't wait to see Bernard and John in action. Both were talented fighters and had trained hard to reach this moment.
With the black flag emblazoned with a silver scythe and white feathers falling from it, Bernard and Johannes entered the arena. Their silver and black armor proudly displayed their heritage, which they proudly represented. Mortis was delighted with their gear and was sure he had not given them something so ostentatious and noble to wear. But Jasmine hugged Mortis from behind and said, "How do you like my choice? I based it on your outfit when I designed this one. I hope you like it, after all, I can't contribute much else." Mortis, however, held her before she could pull away again, and gave her a kiss. "You put yourself too much in the shade. Moments like this alone show that you are there for us and thinking of our welfare. Thank you, sweetheart."
On the other hand, the Emperor of the Sands was rooting for his sons. He hoped that they, like the children of King Mortis, would get his as opponents to throw them out of the tournament. Full of anger, he looked in Mortis' direction, wishing most of all that he would drop dead. But the only thing he saw was a laughing man flirting with one woman after another, which only increased his anger. His rage even drove him to promise gold to counts and other nobles if they could manage to humiliate this bastard and his children. Mortis noticed none of this. He enjoyed life and the tournament to the fullest.
