The decision to take revenge

Mortis lay down in the bathtub and just stared at the sky. He tried to put the images of that lost city out of his mind. Although he knew that death was not bad, he felt it was horrible how people's lives were taken away. This angered him because, in his opinion, he had listened too much to Osmirnis' words and had taken his time. Now he took it upon himself to free the other half of Osmirnis' forces in record time and take everything from this shameful god.

After he finished bathing, Mortis got himself something to eat and disappeared into his room without many words so that he could leave right away the next morning. His wives quickly realized that Mortis was not really feeling well and needed time to himself. Therefore, they let him sleep alone and retire for a while.

The next morning Lumina sent him back to hell again, where they slowly settled in and gradually overcame the horror. Mortis told Edna that he was on his way and that she should continue to make sure that the dismantling went faster. Upon their next return, he would send them all to the cave in his realm where they could establish a city at their leisure. Alternatively, he would distribute them to different cities in his realm.

Before Hell, Mortis left Mino and Marshal behind to protect Hell. Then he made his way to the nearest graveyard. Mortis had a bad premonition where the previous undead came from, who had invaded the city together with the demons. Although he could not confirm it, the behavior of the undead here was quite different. Instead of gathering in the graveyard, small groups of undead moved further away through the woods to feast on the living. But Mortis did not care about these little bugs. He wanted to go to the crypt and rid this area of Osmirnis. For then the undead would crumble to dust anyway and their souls would find salvation.

When Mortis arrived at the graveyard, he was left breathless. The graveyard was filled to the brim with ghosts and skeletons, making Mortis wonder what had happened in that area. But that only further solidified his plan to clear everything out faster in order to wrest his power from Osmirnis. Full of rage, he jumped into the crowd, fighting his way to the crypt, which was located in the center of the cemetery. Under the crypt, the sculpture of this evil god was waiting to be destroyed and replaced by Primus, the true goddess of death.

Fighting one's way free was not difficult, but due to the sheer numbers, it did take some time. After all, there was no boss or fuse to prevent Mortis from smashing the sculpture. When Mortis did so, it happened as it always does: the sculpture of Primus replaced that of Osmirnis, and a wave of purest divinity spread through the land. It called the souls to this place and promised them peace, while the whole cemetery and the surrounding area changed with new flowers and fresh wind, as if Primus was welcoming this world and everyone in it.

Although Mortis liked to take some time to look at everything after the clearing and see how everything started to bloom, he was in a hurry. He waited only a short time for the influx of souls to be collected so he could trade them in at his store. As soon as Mortis had absorbed all the souls into his sea of souls, he rode straight back to the cave to end here as well.

Outside Hell, Mortis saw Marshal and Mino fighting people in armor. In the middle stood a white ibex with golden horns, about 4 meters tall, about to ram a knight with his imposing horns. But the knight was nimble and was able to block with his shield at the last moment and jump to the side so that he was not hurled through the forest. Mortis found it interesting and watched for a while. These people didn't look like brigands or ordinary adventurers, so Mortis wondered what this troop was up to, and watched intently the fight of this stone buck that looked like a nature god.

After about 10 minutes, when everyone was slowly getting exhausted, the knight at the front pulled off his helmet and said to Capricorn, "All right, that's enough. I'm not here to clear hell or worse. I'm just looking for the people of Blauwalde." Suddenly, the Capricorn spoke in a female voice and asked, "Who are you to supposedly care about the people of Blauwalde?" The knight replied, "I am Baron Rainer von Ulmen and I am the lord of this area." But the white ibex replied, "I don't care. This cave belongs to Count Mortis of Bamberg. When he is back, you can negotiate with him whatever you want. But before that, no one leaves the safe cave. If you want something, we can gladly bring you some food outside, dear Baron." The Baron wondered who this Count might be and was about to give orders when a young man rode up on a spirit bear in front of Hell. He dismounted comfortably and eyed the ibex closely. As he did so, the ibex transformed into the dwarf Edna. "Wow, that's some ability," Mortis said excitedly and proudly. "It seems you really have something to offer, just like Lumina said.

Mortis smiled at Edna and nodded at her appreciatively. He was impressed with her transformation ability and knew she would be a valuable ally. "Edna, you have exceeded my expectations," he said. "Let's feed the baron and his people. It is better to keep them peaceful while I change appropriately." Edna nodded and went to tell the Baron that she would be back soon with more food, and that he and his entourage should rest, for the Count was about to receive them. The Baron was now certain that this young man on the bear must be the Count. Although Mortis was not a count of this kingdom, Baron Rainer had to show him respect and defer to him.

After 20 minutes, food was delivered. The soldiers had to eat on the floor while the Baron had a table to sit down normally. At that moment Mortis came with two pitchers of beer and sat down with the Baron. The Baron immediately rose and greeted the young man respectfully, and Mortis also greeted the Baron in a friendly manner. They then began to eat before Mortis told of the events and how the city of Blue Walde had perished. The Baron was horrified by what he heard and was angry with himself for not standing by his people in time. He thanked Mortis for saving so many people and sparing them further suffering.

The baron quivered with rage. "This cowardly scum of Dark Emperor is so afraid of the coming battle that he is already sending troops to win it in advance. But he's going to get his blue miracle! I will not fare like Tyrol, which is now occupied by monsters and undead. I will save my kingdom and take revenge!" shouted the Baron with determination.

Mortis stopped him. "Wait, what do you mean Tyrol?" he asked. "Tyrol has already been completely taken and overrun. That's why the rest of us barons were at the border, to lock up those undead bastards. But it seems that this time this Dark Emperor is serious and wants to wipe us off the map," the Baron explained.

Mortis pondered for a moment. "Tell me, where is this Tyrol? I will cleanse it of the undead. The demons and other monsters are yours. What do you say, Baron?" asked Mortis as he made a plan to free the occupied Tyrol.

"Are you sure you can do it, Count Mortis?" asked the Baron curiously. Mortis confidently replied, "Of course I'm sure. Just look at Blauwalde, you won't find any undead there. Just take me to Tyrol later and I will clean the area. And when the battle begins, you can count on me, too." Mortis smiled in victory.

"So let's waste no time and recapture Tyrol," the baron said firmly. "And as for the people, do you want to keep them or should I distribute them?" he asked. Mortis replied, "I will gladly take them. I plan to expand my kingdom, as well as my castle. Workers are always welcome."
