As the forge guard Gorma approached the group, one immediately sensed her malevolent aura. Her body was wrapped from head to toe in a black robe that exposed only her eyes and her long, bony fingers. In one hand she held a sinister wand, in the other a small bottle full of a greenish, shimmering poison.
An ominous laugh escaped her lips as she caught sight of her enemies. "You will regret that you dared to mess with me," she growled and began to mutter in a foreign language. Suddenly, her eyes turned red and a purple haze enveloped her body.
The group immediately felt the effects of a curse as they were seized by a painful force that permeated their bodies. One by one, they groaned and writhed in pain. But the witch was not only a master at casting curses, she was also an expert at using poison. She hurled bottles of all colors across the room, each color containing a different poison, leaving the adventurers little chance to defend themselves against her.
Magna felt the pain in his muscles as he tried to pull himself together. He had taken a beating from the poisonous claws of the orc witch, but he knew he had to persevere to protect his comrades. The shaman Amari struggled against the pressure on her spirit as she tried to break the witch's enchantments. He knew that his healing spells would not be enough to keep his comrades alive if he could not dispell the curse from all of them in time.
By now, the healers had used up everything they had to support the group. They were already huddling on their toes as the mana was already running out. The bard, Kain, kept playing the Hymn of Mana to support her comrades. She knew that her music could inspire her allies and improve their moral support to persevere in this tough battle.
The boss was a challenge, especially for the tanks and healers who constantly suffered from the curses of their attacks. They fought desperately to defeat the Forge Guardian Gorma, but she seemed to be a real challenge. However, the group did not give up and prevailed. They knew they had to give it their all, and with their cooperation and determination, they mastered this boss as well.
Mortis took the next bone while Magna opened the chest they had received as a reward. However, it would not be distributed until the end of the raid. Mortis and the newly added healer were not considered in the distribution of the loot, as this was normally up to the guild members. But since Mortis was not yet a member of any guild, he had little influence on the distribution.
The group was in top form and spirits were at a high. They were only one boss away and could soon call themselves aspiring adventurers. At least within Franconia's territory, they had proven that they were capable of challenging raids. However, Magna reminded the group to stay alert and give it their all on the final boss. This one was going to be a real chunk: General Zornax, leader of the Iron Orc tribes.Mortis was a bit puzzled because his system had yet another boss on the horizon. How could it be that no one knew anything about it, even though the raid had been around for years?
When everyone was recovered, they also immediately resumed their positions and made their way to the fourth boss, who was one floor up, waiting for the intruders who seemed to be ruining his plans. There were hardly any guards or other enemies in the corridors leading to the boss. It seemed as if the defenses had slackened, which pleased the adventurers. The small mobs were no challenge anyway, but only cost time. Still, they had been in this raid for more than half a day and had only defeated three bosses.
Zornax was a huge orc with broad shoulders and long, muscular arms. He wore dark metal armor and held a one-handed sword and shield in his hands. His eyes sparkled with anger when he saw the intruders.
"
You are brave to come here," he growled. "But you will regret it. I will destroy you all because this mountain is ours!"
The group readies themselves and the tanks charge forward to repel the Boss' attack. The boss hits the tanks' shields with his one-handed sword, but they hold.
When the boss realizes that his one-hander is not enough to defeat the group, he runs to his throne and grabs two two-handers hanging on the wall. With both hands, he swings the two-handers wildly and charges toward the group.
The tanks face the boss and try to block his attacks. The meele DDs try to poke into his defensive gaps and inflict damage.
The boss gets into a sort of berserk mode and lashes out wildly. The tanks have to use all their skills to fend off his attacks and protect the group from damage. The meele DDs have to be careful not to get hit by his wild punches, but they continue their attacks.
Cain, the bard, played their inspiring music and spurred their allies to fight even harder. The fighters prevailed and after a long and hard fight, the orc general Zornax lay defeated on the ground.
The group was happy and satisfied with their victory over the powerful orc general. They had proven that they were a strong unit and could support each other. They had also shown that they were capable of overcoming even the most difficult challenges.Mortis, however, could not shake off the thought of the mysterious symbol. What was the meaning of these symbols? While everyone cheered and rejoiced, Mortis searched the general to find the last bone. He quickly found it, as it was hanging from one of the swords. As Mortis picked up the last bone, the other bones also appeared and all four floated in the air, spinning back and forth and showing four symbols that Mortis did not know. But they began to glow and it seemed as if the glow penetrated Mortis. Then the light formed four letters that made the word "hero." When "Hero" lit up, the general's throne moved and a secret staircase appeared. The guild, who were celebrating, were startled and wondered what was going on, for they had never heard of this incident. They naturally thought it was a hidden treasury and rushed to the secret staircase. But they quickly realized that they couldn't even enter that staircase. So Magna asked Mortis if he knew where this staircase led. Mortis said, "I don't know exactly where, but probably to the boss I'm looking for. And it seems this one is only accessible to people with hero potential."
Magna understood and was grateful to experience it. But the one who was most happy about it was Cain, who immediately took out paper again to write down everything that happened. The guild leader didn't know what to do. On the one hand, he wanted to celebrate with his guild, but on the other hand, he didn't want to leave Mortis alone, since he was a colleague in this adventure. But Mortis could read his thoughts on his face, so he said that they parted ways here and he hoped they would meet again in a nicer place.
Magna and everyone else in the group thanked Mortis and said their goodbyes. At this, Magna also went ahead and through the portal to leave the raid. Mortis was happy to have met such loyal and friendly people. He stepped back and went down the stairs.
