An Unexplainable Try

'Oh, heck-how-why-what-what was it?' Dr.Jeffrey was roaming about restlessly in front of the dining table with his hands on his hips.

'Give it a rest, Doc. Sit down, have some waffles. They are delicious by the way. Are you sure you live alone?' Sergio explained, stuffing a waffle in his mouth as a whole. On his side, Leo was silent and thinking, his waffle barely eaten. Brian was eating, but his mind was in the State Park.

'This is just-is this a dream?' asked Dr. Jeffrey, his grey hair bouncing.

'I had that thought first.' said Leo.

'What should we do now?' demanded Brian, his black specs a little unbalanced and his brown hair rough. His pointed face was a little sweaty now.

'I don't think you can go back home can you?' asked Dr. Jeffrey.

'Which 'home' are you talking about? It's across the universe.' said Sergio.

'Uh-huh.'

'I think we should go back.' said Brian, breaking the silence.' With equipment and all don't you think? We can take some notes, and we can have some proof too you know.'

'I think you are right Brian. We should probably have some evidence.

'But I'm hungry guys! I gotta eat a waff-'

'We're going.'

'But hey, it's 9.30 already. Don't you think it's too late?' asked Dr. Jeffrey.' I think we should go back tomorrow.'

'Where are we gonna go now?' asked Leo, too exhausted at the thought.

'You can sleep here. It'll be better.' finished Dr. Jeffrey. He showed them an empty room. 'I haven't got clothes your size, you need to change eh?'

The others shook their heads.

'Doctor!, ' snapped Leo as Dr. Jeffrey was about to leave.' Do you believe us?' He started at him. 'I mean, we showed up only hours ago, and you are letting us into your home. Don't you think-'

'I believe you now. I didn't when you showed up but after that Pit, I think I do. Plus you are 13-year-olds aren't you?' He smiled and left. Sergio and Brian slept as soon as they laid down. Leo was wondering what a weird day it had been.

Leo heard a bang at the door. It would probably be his mother, telling him to be ready for his trip to the State Park. He had a very strange dream. He traveled to another world through a Pit. Perhaps it was an effect of the lecture he attended yesterday? Another bang.

'Wake up guys!' shouted Dr. Jeffrey. The three woke up with a jump. Sergio and Brian could also have thought it was all a dream. For a moment they stared at each other, then jumped off the bed. Dr. Jeffrey had made some toasts and had some equipment packed. After they all were prepared, they left for the State Park. Their minds were full of questions, which they didn't reckon would be able to answer. Half of the journey was quiet, then Dr. Jeffrey began to ask them about their lives back 'home'.

'Wonder if it's gonna be bigger now?' Leo asked Brian.

'Dunno. But it's weird though, so maybe.'

Finally, they were close to the bushes, except the bushes seemed lesser than usual. The Pit had grown bigger and had swallowed half the bushes. The four stood there, shocked and confused. It was some moments before they realized why they were here. Dr. Jeffrey put on his gloves and took out a thermometer and  Leo started recording.

'You know Anomalistic Doc?' asked Brian.

'Yes, I try to.'

'What is Anoma-'

'Not now Serg.' Leo interrupted him.

Dr. Jeffrey took the thermometer and it touched the Pit. When he took it out, it was half frozen. They gasped.

'What are you doing here!?' came a voice from their back and they jumped. The next moment, Leo felt hands clutch him and fainted.
