It wasn't even night yet but the surrounding was dark. Nathaniel couldn't see the sun but the ever-growing darkness. It's like the void has come to swallow him.
He gritted his teeth and poised to attack again, his heart hammering. One second, two seconds– and in the count of three, the two met halfway, their sword brushing. Sparks flew instantly and escalated into a shower of light.
He heard a hum and the dark flames surged forward as if they wanted to bite him. Nathan's sword gleamed as he slashed, cutting the dark aura so he could reach the person behind it.
"Hoh. Not bad."
"I commend your skills as well."
Nathaniel is still confident even though the fight has been fruitless. They couldn't land a hit on one another, not even a single scratch. One could say that they are on equal footing.
