Lukas' steady eyes were glued on the queen's palace as he stood side by side with Kite who was also waiting for the two to come back. The night was deep and already getting colder, the sky was clear of clouds, dotted with stars that made it look like it was filled with glitter.
The wind blew and rustled the leaves on the tree they were at, whistling gently in their ears. A minute passed— two minutes and more, both their shadows were still unseen but they continued to wait patiently. And then something quickly brushed past the hedges and jumped over the wall.
Lukas wordlessly averted his eyes and waited some more, following the shadow's movements. Just then, the two figures they were expecting came hurrying one after another. He then turned around and left while the three men followed behind him.
They returned to the palace and into the study and after making sure the coast was clear, they started their meeting.
