Chapter 395: Sabotage (4)

Perseus POV

Lilith didn't even really bat an eye when the 2 roses asked her for her forgiveness, she gave them her forgiveness, just that the others didn't think that she really meant it and took it seriously.

She does forgive them, but I can tell, it made them feel worse, their little sister was right there with them the whole time, and yet they didn't even notice, heck, her relationship with Ruka and Leilah was strained at first too, though they somehow repaired it and she sort of got over the inferiority complex she had as well.

"Who do you side with?" Alban asked

"What do you mean?" Lilith questioned

"You are the demon goddess, we pray to you for victory in battle, but...you're also his lover, a person who was deemed as the number one enemy by the anti-magic religion, who are our allies, which makes him our enemy."

"I'll give you my blessing, and if Perseus is about to die, I'll rescue him and imprison him as my pla- I mean, I'll rescue him and-"

"You were just about to say plaything, weren't you?"

"Either way," Lilith ignored me, "I will not interfere unless another god does. But you will have my blessings. Perseus will only be rescued on the brink of death, and I won't let him go back into war when that happens. The other gods are doing the same."

"What if you and Maple marry Perseus?" Alban suggested, "We have a lot of inside jokes about his so-called claim of dating or aiming to date our goddess, but it's real, and the marriage can delay the war for at least 2 centuries, giving us enough time to discuss proper peace."

What? Did they spread it as a joke? The recently awoken Roxa seems to think of that as an absurd take, but she shuts up. I did suggest it before, but as the gods take their oath seriously, she will have to become mortal, finding a replacement isn't hard, but that's a really difficult decision for them to make, losing their immortality isn't an easy thing to just agree to.

"I'll marry him, but I'll only do it when all of this is over."  Lilith said

"Wait, really?"

"I might as well, it's more fun with you around, so it should be good to end my life on a high note rather than just moving on and repeating the same things over and over. Why so shocked?"

"Just didn't expect it from you."

"I'm still not going to bear a child, I ain't gonna go through 9 months of hell."

"Sure."

"And what about you?" Alban asked, "Who are you going to side with? The demons are going to receive your Lilith's blessing, while the heroes will receive Maple's as some of her worshippers are there, our mother will not step in either."

"I'll side with my village, what other options are there?"

"And become everyone's enemy?" Roxa inquired, "I'll be transparent. If you think you can stay out and sweep us after everyone weakened each other, then you're wrong. Your village is the biggest threat, everyone will plan to eliminate you guys first before going at each other."

"Ooh, fun, but trust me, you all attacking this village would be the worst decision you will make, do you think that we can exist this long if we were weak?"

"We're targeting you because you're strong."

"We know, the moment you decide to launch an attack is the moment you lose. Leilah can kill almost every living being just by activating her powers, and that's just one of our weapons."

Lilith POV

"Threatening 2 generals isn't a good move for you." I commented as soon as my siblings left

"The village prides itself in our defense, and everyone knows it," Perseus replied, "We won't launch an attack and only wait for the attack to come to us, we have some of the most dangerous monsters living in the forests, so they can't go hide in there as it's a death sentence, they'll have to walk on the open path, which...well, it'll expose them and we can kill them easily.

"Even you would have to advise them to launch a group of elitists instead. Would the humans put any hero in that group? No, they need all the heroes they have if they want to stand a chance against Lachlan, the demons can afford to send one general as they need their main force against the heroes, the only ones I would have to worry about are the anti-magic cult."

Exactly, he gets their thinking and he can envision how all of this plays out, yet he doesn't really seem to exercise any caution. On one hand, his ability to understand the situation and anticipate outcomes is a valuable skill. It allows him to take calculated risks and make bold moves. After all, success often requires taking risks.

But on the other hand, there's a fine line between calculated risk-taking and recklessness. Is he consciously pushing that boundary, or is he simply not aware of the dangers he might be courting?

"I'm a protagonist, you don't have to worry about me." he said, "Besides, just because this village prides itself in defense, it doesn't define my strategies, I'm going on offense."

"Oh? Who will you attack?"

"Phineas, they're the only one who's actually hostile against me, and it's not like they follow any international law either."

"Won't attack them anger the demons?"

"Are they not already angry?"

"Fair point. But isn't he in the desert where war is happening?"

"And can any of the people on that battlefield stop me?"

No. He has the power of the black rose as well, the heroes are scared of Lachlan cleaning them up when Perseus weakens them, so they can't interfere, and based on the prayers, the heroes are also internally divided as some wants all the credit or at least acknowledgement.

This is a fair time to start an attack, even among the demons, there are those who are secretly cooperating with the heroes as they believe these beings would win, and they're doing it to spare their family when the demons finally lose.
