As I catched up to the carriage, I swiftly pressed my foot on earth and with a *bam*, I jumped lightly in the front of them. Startled, the merchant who was driving the carriage was caught off guard. Immediately he pulled the horse rope to force him to stop. This abrupt action resulted in making all luggage tremble violently while the adventurers that were resting in the carriage looked somewhat lost for sometime before jumping out to check what happened. They were still near the town, not far away from the town gate after all. There does not exist anyone who got enough guts to attack someone in a place like this afraid of the law enforcer guards. The law enforcer guards are a group of warriors that are well trained directly by the royal army from childhood, resulting in them being entirely loyal to the empire risking their lives to enforce law to towns all around the empire. Their rank is directly under the royal army which is responsible for protecting the royal family. For so many years, after establishing the law enforcer guardians, the crimes that were conducted yearly have been decreasing gradually, almost disappearing. Right now, seeing someone stopping the road in front of them made them somewhat startled. But after looking at me their expression turned calmer. Well, seeing that I am just a 18 years old kid, of course there is nothing to be afraid of. That's what they thought.
"Hey kid, you are standing on our way. Move aside" said one of the adventurers. Probably if it wasn't a kid who is standing before him, he wouldn't even waste his breath on just talking. He would attack that very moment. As for the others, they just knitted their eyebrows together but stayed silent. Clearly they didn't their companion tyrannical personality but they could not do anything about it. "I might be a kid but I am an adventurer too. I am a member in this quest party." I replied calmly. I wanted to give a more proper introduction but it is already too late. Listening to what I just said, the group looked a bit surprised and the most one surprised of them was the merchant. He turned to look at the adventurers group and said angrily:"Didn't you all said that he has some illness and can't arrive? I knew you were lying." then he turned to look at me apologetically and continued:"I am truly sorry sir, I thought you wouldn't come that's why I didn't wait you.". This guy put all the blame on them.
It's not that the merchant was really apologetic for what happened but he only care about his reputation. If someone make a request to the adventurers guild then someone accept to do that request, the requester can't refuse or change that adventurer unless he fail on doing quest. If the requester forced the adventurer to cancel accepting the quest then he will lose reputation and probably no one will accept to do his requests anymore. Adventurers are not mere tools that you pick from what you want and throw what you don't like . They are humans too after all.
"There is no need to be so polite sir. I am just a D grade adventurer after all not to mention my young age." I replied humbly. 'Low profile. I should keep a low profile' I thought. "Sir is too humble. It was my mistake for not waiting for you to join the party before leaving." replied the merchant. "I am genki sohma. A merchant from Reynan town. May I know how should I call this sir?". "There is no need to know my name. My nickname is Cmking but not need to call me by that either. Call me whatever you want." I replied calmly. Sohma looked at me for while with a confused look then just nodded his head and said:"Sir, come have a seat.". I nodded then advanced swiftly to the carriage, found a seat in the back of the carriage and stayed there. It's rude to ignore peoples but since they didn't want me to join the party and tried to play tricks on me, I will naturally not be polite to them. Meanwhile, the adventurers group looked at each other and couldn't help but smile bitterly and shake their heads while that tyrannical guy looked ferociously at me with a twitching mouth but he just forced himself to calm down. It was because the guild rules didn't allow adventurers to fight between themselves during quests. If the merchant complain about him to the guild, he will be forced to pay the price.
that guy need some descipline in the near future. he dares to act arrogantly in front of me, HIS FATHER.
low profile loow profiile for now. that's how mcs usually act after all.
