Aiden really did walk with me until I reached my way home.
Forgetting everything, I jumped on the bed instantly as soon as I dropped my bag on the side of the door.
Strange enough, I fell asleep right away as soon as I felt the familiar softness of my bed.
...
Thursday.
I didn't log on my PC last night and studied for a bit instead after my mood was better.
Instead, I made another poem along with the one I already had earlier in stock.
Tonight will be a decisive one. If not one of them are online, I'll just send her an email, and an FYI to her brother just in case she doesn't check.
Since I had a good sleep, I woke up early today and did my usual routine an hour earlier since there are exams.
The sun hasn't risen yet when I left the house, and I could see a few people jogging on the road. There are even a few adults wearing formal wear which I don't usually see when going outside the house.
On the way there's also an old man that was watering his plants behind his fence.
"Oh, so that's why it's always wet at this part?"
Walking over the road made me take a different perspective on things, as the time I've left the house is unusual.
Watching everything as I stride towards the school, I felt better than yesterday. Of course before I entered, I went to the usual convenience store where I sometimes buy breakfast.
"Wow."
There's a line of people currently buying and it might take me a bit of time before I could check out my item so I decided to skip fast food and get some bread from the bakery instead.
The bakery is also a bit full right now but they're fast at handling transactions so people come and go like a factory line.
This is probably the second time I'll be buying here since I don't like how cold the bread is but I have no choice right now.
The lady behind the counter asked what I wanted, and she immediately turned to the side and signaled to the other girl behind, which readily took the bread I pointed from the shelves and packed it, and passed it on my hands.
"Owwtta tata...!"
"First time here son? Put it on your bag so it will be warm until later." The lady on the counter held her hand in front as she gestured for my payment.
"New kid huh? That's rare." I heard someone behind me mention that, and noticed that the line was getting longer so to not be shameful I counted my coins and gave the exact amount instead before finally leaving.
"So that's why there's only a few pieces when I go here an hour later? Wow."
This day is awfully intent in giving me surprises, so I went to the school right away after buying bread.
The gates were open already yet the guard wasn't still there, which made the interior of the school a bit eerie.
"Well, I've been always early anyway and there are no ghosts."
After making my way upstairs, I placed my bag on the front as I sat on the uneven desk before I opened the pouch that kept my bread. From the heat it emitted, it was still really warm.
I took a bite and the outside was slightly crispy, yet the inside had some partially hot and sweet meaty filling that made me almost bit my tongue.
"Freak. This stuff is good."
No wonder why that bakery is always almost close when I'm going to school.
Goodbye, fast food. Farewell unhealthy snacks. Dang how do they make this bread?
It didn't took me five minutes to finish the bread and I felt thirsty so I went down to the open court and drank from the drinking fountain before going back upstairs once more to review the exams.
"Should I still review this stuff? I've read it already. Just in case I forget then."
As soon as my concentration went on focus, the sun slowly rose and I didn't realize that there were other students already until the noise chatter went up a notch.
I stretched and yawned before I kept the few notes that I had on hand and sent my bag away to the front.
Finally.
"Sup bro?"
"Dude... thanks a lot from yesterday."
"Nah. What are friends for?"
Exactly. I'm really grateful for this guy. We fought a few times but it never escalated so much that our friendship broke.
His eyes suddenly glanced to my right and above me, which slowly followed someone. I glanced at his line of sight and saw Brett. This guy just likes to piss people off and apologize later, which doesn't get him bullied, strangely. But because of this, all of his friends are in the other sections.
It wasn't long before Aiden quickly walked towards him and slammed his fist on the table.
"Give it back." His tone was unusually cold which gave the other people in the class a fright.
"Tomorrow." Brett casually replied with a smile.
"I said...give, it, back." I couldn't see Aiden's eyes from my seat but I could feel the hostility he's giving off.
"Tomorrow."
"I'll have your nose as collateral then, and you can have your tomorrow." His arm rose in the air and his fist was about to strike Brett in the face, but the latter immediately took off a ring from his ring finger.
Brett just came looking cool and breezy but now I could see his armpits and chest getting wet from sweat.
"See? That was easy." Aiden finally wore the ring on his own ring finger and quietly left, then returned to my seat with a happy mood.
"Told you, shouldn't have lent him your ring."
"He said he'll return it. I have him a week already, and tax is tax. Heck, this is mine, after all."
We talked about him lending his ring his late girlfriend gifted him, but he wouldn't listen. Sometimes I just couldn't get why he's so magnanimous yet, he's also 'like that' just seconds ago. He's kind in a way that gives everyone the good look, and gets mad when time gives him the opportunity.
It wasn't out of place, but still, it got a lot of attention.
If someone asked me why we're hanging out when no one wants to be friends with me, it's probably because he transferred to our school just this year, and no one wanted to approach him because of his face that looked intimidating.
I got curious about his identity because I saw his name on my previous school, and that got him talking. Now, we're best friends.
"I made this just a while ago."
Changing the topic, I showed him the poem that I made recently.
He took a quick look and scanned it, but he started to slow down.
"I'm at the middle part, and I don't want to affect the tests later."
"That's fine, we'll be leaving early anyway."
He gave me back my note with a smile.
"You're still in love after all that?" He asked as I kept the note in my pocket.
"I don't know man. This will probably be some kind of, last message. 'Mi Ultimo Adios' maybe?"
"You know that poem? No wonder we're labelled as freaks."
I got distracted and watched at the whole class that's almost turning into a frenzy.
The classroom was getting more noisy instead of everyone being quiet. Selecting a few of the voices I could hear that they were planning on copying behind our top students. I can see a few of my classmates changing their seats without permission before the teacher got in, and with that the bell tolled which signaled the start of our masteries.
