Chapter 2

It was the weekend so there were no classes.

"Girls we're going out for a while. You can make yourselves breakfast. We'll call you later if we can't make it home for dinner," my mom said after shaking us awake.

Our parents often went on outings together, ever since we were old enough to fend for ourselves. They were mated couples and loved to spend time together which we thought was adorable. My mom was all dressed up in faded jeans and a floral top, wedges, and flawless makeup. She had always been gorgeous. The other girl's moms had dressed up as well.

"Okay mom have a good time," I said to her and all the girls murmured their agreements.

"So what's the plan?" Ruby said after they left.

"We should go somewhere. It's too nice to stay inside," Jade said.

"Mall?" Sapphire asked hopefully. She loved to shop and I was one to talk. I had more clothes than I could wear in a lifetime. We all agreed to have breakfast first and head to the mall.

When we got there we immediately went to Body Central which was coincidentally all our favorite store. After several hours and spending more money than necessary we decided to head to the food court for lunch. Everything was going great until I got this strange feeling we were being watched. I couldn't put my finger on it but something was off. I looked behind me but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

"You okay Jewels?" Diamond asked me concerned.

"Yeah fine. I just had this weird feeling. But it's probably nothing," I said trying to shake it off. We continued to eat and when we were done decided to head to the movies. We all were dying to see Temptation and I could only hope it was half as good as the previews.

The movie lasted a couple hours and I had to admit I wasn't disappointed. Our parents were home when we got back which was a little strange since they normally stayed out late. They were all sitting in the living room with a grim look on their faces.

"What's wrong?" I asked to no one in particular. I was starting to worry and the awkward silence did nothing to help.

After what seemed like an eternity my mom finally spoke. "The pack is being threatened again. But this time is not like the others. The alpha is really worried. The enemy pack is strong and many could die if a war starts. He's meeting with their alpha tomorrow to try to negotiate, but it doesn't look good."
