Random Childhood Friends Bullshittery

It's currently 2pm, and I'm sitting on the swing at the playground.

Usually at this time I would be reading the books Father gave me but I decided to take a break and touch grass.

Father is at work so I asked Mother if I can go outside. She agreed, but on one condition.

"Kiyotaka, why don't you play with the kids over there?" I asked Kiyotaka who's standing right besides the swing I'm on.

"Childish games won't amuse me." Kiyotaka crossed his arms and turned away from me.

How cute.

He took Father's words to heart and now trying to be mature. Isn't that cute?

I know, it's tragic. Kiyotaka will waste his childhood like this. He needs to make memories as a child. What will he do when he's fighting against some demonic being at 16 and requires the power of flashback to win?

And so, as a good brother, I must do what I must.

"Come." I stood up, grabbed his hand and dragged hin towards the group of kids playing around.

There are four of them, playing around mindlessly. And of course, as residents of an anime world, they have weird hair colors.

"Hey, mind if we join?" I approached and asked a boy with sky blue hair.

"Of course! It's more fun with many people!" Kid with sky blue hair fist pumped the sky.

Uh-oh, I think this guy is also a protagonist. His aura is too bright. Kiyotaka, you have to learn from him.

"I'm Yuzuru, and this is my brother ,Kiyotaka." I bowed my head slightly after my introduction.

"Yuzuru! Kiyotaka! Nice to meet you, I'm Himmel!" Kid with sky blue hair introduced himself.

Himmel? Does his parents hate him? Who names their kid Sky? Oh, I forgot Sora exists.

"Himmel, are you German, perhaps?"

"German? What's that? Is that food?"

"Nevermind."

"Oh, my turn! I'm Stark!" Boy with red hair came up next, smiling brightly.

Oh shit I think it's another protagonist. Kiyotaka, take notes. This is how you should be when you grow up.

"I'm Fern." A girl with violet hair introduced herself next. Her mannerism reminds me of an older woman. Probably a rich girl.

"Ah, I'm Freiren. Nice to meet you." Lastly, it's a girl with white hair.

What a bunch, their hair colors are blinding.

"Kiyotaka, play." I pushed Kiyotaka, who has his eyes closed with crossed arms in an attempt to be cool, forward towars the kids.

"You don't want to play with us?" Stark asked, looking slightly sad.

"Maybe some other day. For now, please make Kiyotaka smile." That sounded a bit cheesy but what can I do? Besides, they're kids.

"Okay then. I swear we'll make Kiyo-chan smile!" Himmel came up with a fist raised in the sky.

Wow, he's such a protagonist.

Kiyotaka, learn from them.

Following which I went back to my swing and sat down in silence.

Ah, life is good.

"Damn, it's 4pm already." I checked the kiddie watch on my wrist, standing up from the swing where I just spent 2 hours sitting on.

"Time to go home then." I stretched my back and went towards the group of kids playing in the sandbox.

Everyone seems to be having fun. Even Kiyotaka, from the looks of it. I think they're making sandcastles but it honestly just looks like a weird-shaped hill.

"Kiyotaka, time to go home." I approached them.

"Eh, oh." Kiyotaka immediately lost his smile.

"Can he stay a bit longer? We want to play with him more!" Stark pleaded.

"But Stark, their parents must be looking for them." Himmel answered him.

Well, wow. He's quite mature for his age.

"I'll bring him the next time we go here. For now, we'll be heading home." I patted the sand on Kiyotaka's shorts before bowing at the kids slightly as a form of thanks.

"Okay, come back soon!"

"We will." With that, I started walking back home.

Kiyotaka is walking behind me, so I can't see his expression. Well, he's definitely sad. I think that's his first time making friends. Ah, this must be a memorable experience.

Anyways, it's awkward to walk home without talking to each other. And thus, with my usual steady tone, I asked without turning back.

"Did you have fun, Kiyotaka?"

"...yes."

A slight pause but he answered. That's good.

"Do you want to come back some other day?" I asked again.

"Can I?" He responded much faster this time. I guess he really liked his new friends. I mean, they're his only friends so...

"I'll talk to Father."

At the mention of father, Kiyotaka's footsteps suddenly stopped. I turned around, raising an eyebrow at him. He's just standing there, head down.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I-it's nothing." He shook his head and quickly jogged forward, passing me.

I guess his fear of father is quite deep. He's being compared to me constantly and is under a lot of pressure to be a genius at such a young age.

It's understandable that he fears father, but I hope he won't break under all that pressure. A parent's expectation is as heavy as a mountain, more so at such a young age.

But then, he doesn't know why Father is making us go through hell. Well yeah, he's too young to get it even if Father tells him face to face.

Well, Father told me though. Well at least a part of it. He just called me one night and sat me face to face and said something about "world is not as simple as you think" and "the real training has not even begun".

I'm honestly too lazy to even care. This is an anime world and I'm not gonna be surprised when he reveals magic is real and that there's gates to a fantasy world hidden all over the world.

That would be dope though, honestly. But it's still a long time before he starts to reveal things to us.

Anyways, I'm going home. I'm hungry.

"Kiyotaka, wait for me."
