"We will be learning about the magic star pattern today"

The class started and Bree started to teach the students about the magic star pattern which could also be called star patterns.

Being able to form a star pattern is a sign that a mage has officially entered the mage path and can now use spells and draw in mana into their bodies.

Star patterns were a magic structure that enabled a mage to turn their mana into spells with the help of the chant.

"A star pattern can only be formed by placing stars that a mage would create with mana In a specific position and structure before linking them together, a mage apprentice would require a complete star pattern to be able to summon spells freely; a star pattern consists of seven stars"

Bree explained the image of a star pattern appeared on the board, she told the students not to bother drawing it as there was a diagram in their textbook.

"As you can see on the board, the star pattern is just like a formation of stars and this formation has to be created inside of your soul. The star pattern might look simply because of how it looks here but do not be deceived, there are tiny details that can make forming a star pattern unbearably frustrating.

Examples are the gaps between each star and the altitude at which they hang around each other" Bree said as a thin line suddenly appeared on the board, circling the star pattern and a few more appearing between the stars like strings.

"As you can see, this line circling the star pattern is the altitude measuring line which won't be there when you are creating your star pattern. You can see that out of these six stars, the two at the top and bottom have their tips exactly on the line but the four on both sides do not" The students nodded their heads.

Indeed, staring at the diagram of the star pattern, one could see that out of the four stars on the two sides of the star pattern, two stars were slightly out of the line while the other two were a few inches away from it, not touching the line.

" Missing this step can cause the star pattern to collapse and all your efforts would go to waste, you would then need to restart the process of taming your stars" Bree paused, giving the students to write down what she had said before resuming.

" Then there is the distance measuring line which also will not be present when you are forming your star pattern, so make sure you remember it to avoid failures"

According to Bree, the stars inside the star pattern had a nonuniform length between each star, some had the length of centimeters while others had the length of centimeters and inches and according to their instructor, if a mage disregarded this part when forming their star pattern, it had a low probability of causing dizziness to the mage when the star pattern collapses.

"And then we'll talk about the star in the middle," Bree said as the star in the middle of the star pattern on the board lit up slightly.

This particular star was the biggest and seemed to be the center focus of the star pattern with the other six stars surrounding it.

The star turned out to be the heart of the star pattern and was recommended to place it in position first when forming the star pattern, a mage would be able to easily place the other stars based on their positioning from the star in the middle.

'Ahh, so boring!' Vee sighed while the class went on.

His mind drifted off to when he was newly taught this same topic thousands of years ago. Unlike these kids who were having it easy and their gentle instructor, Vee's instructor back then had been a retired mage from the northern continent magic army. The man had been so fierce that he made Vee and the others start forming their stars on the spot after just teaching a little and made them practice taming their stars the next day, although his methods were harsh on the kids back then, Vee had to admit that it was very effective as almost everyone in his class at that time had managed to form their star pattern after just a week of entering the academy.

He still remembered that the instructor would always yell at them…

"There are no rooms for princesses in this place! Put your heart and soul into it, you nuggets or you will be the first to die when facing a magic beast! You have nothing else to do other than learn so use all twenty-seven hours to work! If you can't even do this, what gives you the guts to awaken!?"

Vee felt like chuckling as he remembered this piece of memory. Seriously, how did that man expect them to use twenty-seven hours to form magic patterns when there were only twenty-four hours in a day? Still, the kids back then had pulled through the pressure and succeeded, though the instructor was proud of his students, he did not show it and would still scold them nonstop.

"Look at these monkeys, smiling because of a little achievement. If you think you are talented, then freaking make a constellation!"

'Tks tks tks! Only Nebula mage and above can make constellations, that man really had a degree in making people feel worthless' Alex grinned as he kept reminiscing.

It was sad news that the old instructor had died when a magic beast that was at the calamity rank attacked the academy, he was after all only at the Alpha mage rank and had used his life to stall the beast for other instructors to arrive.

"Student Vee, is my teaching that boring and not to your liking that you decide to daydream in class?"

Bree's voice suddenly rang in Vee's ears, pulling his attention back to the present. He realized that everyone was staring at him and Bree had paused her teaching.

'Damn! Why is this girl paying so much attention to me!?' Vee grumbled inwardly but his face didn't show it.

"Ah, sorry instructor, I didn't mean it" Vee stood up and said sincerely.

Bree stared at him for a while with a cold glint in her eyes.

"Mind telling the class what you were daydreaming about?" She asked.
