Sweet Dreams

The sun has changed jobs with the moon. Faintly, the moonlight gives meaning about the beauty of serenity in life.

However, Neko's heart was not at all calm. Ever since she left Natsume a few hours ago, she had been worried about his childhood best friend.

She repeatedly opened the cellphone in hopes of getting news from Natsume, but to no avail. Natsume didn't give him any news.

Even Ritsu who asked him to return to Japan didn't show up. In fact, Neko has complied with his wish to stay with his family for a while.

'Perhaps, this is the reason Natsume cares for me so much,' thought Neko with a languid face.

"Oi, what is that face you showed after choosing the vampires?"

Neko recognized that voice. She immediately put on a guilty expression.

"Tsk! This is not the time for you to feel guilty," said Koga and started to enter Neko's room and then sat on the sofa that had been provided.

Perhaps, what Koga said was true. It was too late to feel guilty, because what she was facing now was the risk of what she chose.

Neko chose to leave Natsume's side. And this is what she received. Pensive alone without anyone to comfort or talk to him at all.

"Oi, don't forget that I'm still here," said Koga.

"Ritsu, isn't he back yet?" Neko said softly.

"If you ask Ritsu or Rei, I don't know anything about them. They always hang around at will," answered Koga.

Neko was getting more and more uneasy hearing that answer. His mind started to think about Rei and Ritsu.

Koga slowly smiled, "It's useless if you put your worries on them."

Neko looked at Koga with a confused look. She had thought that worrying about someone was a natural thing for a human like himself.

"Humans like you need thousands of years to worry about immortals like him. Although I know it's natural for humans," he explained.

Neko smiled gently, "Humans don't live that long. I'm sure you know that common thing too."

"Indeed. Sometimes for vampires and demons who can live for centuries, loving humans is a mistake. They will continue to be tormented by losing the people they love. Or worse, eternal life is a curse for them," said Koga.

Neko was silent for a moment. However, a question crossed his mind.

"Koga, how did you end up following the vampire's rules? Usually... your people usually have enemies with vampires, don't you?" asked Neko with an innocent face.

"Tch, I thought that question would arise," said Koga.

"Hahaha, sorry," Neko said softly.

"We're not completely obedient to vampires. We just put a limit on them not to touch humans," answered Koga.

"That's why you were so scary back then?" asked Neko who still clearly remembers how his first meeting with Koga was.

"One of them is like that," said Koga calmly.

Neko nodded in understanding. Although she still had questions, she was actually very hesitant to raise them.

"Go to sleep, it's getting late," said Koga.

"How about you?" ask Neko.

"Tch, just sleep. I'll be here until one of the vampires comes," said Koga.

Neko didn't ask again. His body was already feeling tired after a long journey. Even his mind was no less tired from thinking about the two influential men in his life.

Neko slept for a long time. She woke up because his throat felt very dry.

For a moment, his eyes wandered around the room. And when she turned to the window, she found the figure who had left him long ago.

His boyfriend was sitting at the window of his room. Her pale skin grew even more beautiful as the moonlight focused the light only on her lover.

"Can I help you, Neko?" Ritsu closed his book and walked slowly towards his lover who had just woken up.

Ritsu gently stroked Neko's cheek. Cold, that's what Neko always felt when Ritsu touched her.

"Water," whispered Neko.

Ritsu left his room and came back with a glass of mineral water. Neko drank it until she was satisfied then thanked Ritsu.

"Neko ...."

"Ritsu...."

They spoke at the same time. In the end, Ritsu asked his girlfriend to speak first.

"Ritsu, where have you been? Did you ask me to come back here just so I can be alone here?" asked Neko without even looking at Ritsu.

Ritsu smirked. He climbed into his lover's bed and hugged his lover in his arms.

Neko did not move. She entrusted everything to Ritsu. When Ritsu hugged him, she could hear the rhythm of Ritsu's heartbeat which sounded like a lullaby to him.

Ritsu stroked Neko's hair slowly which made Neko's sleepiness even more unbearable. In fact, she also forgot the question she had asked and slowly, she returned to the dream world.

"Neko, if you know this, I just don't want to make you worry more. Demons are starting to move looking for you," said Ritsu when Neko had really gone to dreamland.

"I can't let you be hunted by a predator like him."

Ritsu smiled blankly, "It's funny when a predator like me says that a Demon is a predator. But you have to know, I will protect you at all costs. Rei, Natsume and my allies will also do the same. We will protect you, Love."
