Chapter 13 - Nightmare

Tian Longmeng suddenly fell into a deep abyss of ungodly essence. Tian Longmeng could only see nothing but the carnage of beasts, humans, and even some strange creatures. Their bones, rotting flesh, and blood-filled this eternal bathhouse of horror.

Tian Longmeng could faintly see the image of a man in the distance. He stood on top of a particularly high hill of carnage, with his hair spread out and flowing like an Asura god of death looking over the mortal insects.

Upon closer inspection, Tian Longmeng became shocked at the appearance of the fearsome man. This death god Asura looked exactly like Tian Fengmeng, there was almost no difference between the two apart from the overwhelmingly evil aura.

However, Tian Longmeng could not stargaze for too long anymore since the Asura Tian Fengmeng started to move. The Asura Tian Fengmeng raised his hand and released a wave of blackness into the abyss.

Tian Longmeng felt all the hair on his body stand on alert, and he did all he could to run away from the black wave as fast as he could. Unfortunately, the wave was so fast that it reached Tian Longmeng before he could even move 10 miles at top speed. Bear in mind that at top speed, Tian Longmeng could run 100 miles in just 20 minutes at his current cultivation, so the speed of the black wave could be imagined.

The wave of blackness ran through Tian Longmeng and instantly ruptured his body. Tian Longmeng fell over into a pile of carnage and could barely move since all his organs and bones were decimated and his blood flow was in total disarray.

Tian Longmeng barely struggled amongst all the pain he was feeling to rise again and limp his way to a blind spot in blind hope that he could buy himself some time to heal. Tian Longmeng was already close to 100 percent certain that doing this was a futile effort, but he would rather die fighting than just remain there and resign himself to fate.

All of a sudden, Tian Longmeng saw an old man reaching out from an auspicious cave made of suspended bones and rotting flesh. He reached out his hand to Tian Longmeng and offered to provide assistance.

Tian Longmeng could not wish for anything else and opened himself to being helped by the random old man.

"Pah!" Tian Longmeng's pupils shrank as he dashed away from the old man in surprise. Slightly too late though, as Tian Longmeng was now holding his right side that was now soaked red. The old man was standing opposite to Tian Longmeng with a knife soaked in blood, in his hand, and a grin on his face.

Tian Longmeng became very dazed from the earlier sneak attack and could barely keep himself stable anymore. He breathing patterns became distorted and his heartbeat was banging in his ears like a gong ceremony.

Tian Longmeng tried to focus on the face of this old man and noticed the surprise of his lifetime. This old man was not old at all; he actually looked exactly like Tian Fengmeng!

"What, two different people with father's face!" Tian Longmeng stumbled backwards in shock as the old man Tian Fengmeng started to walk towards him with a maniacal grin and a bloody knife.

Tian Longmeng later tripped on a pile of rotting flesh and fell on his bottom. That was when he noticed the bright light coming from the sky.

He was shocked and marvelled to see a floating man in the sky radiating a dense holy light and commanding the respect of all those who may see him. Quite strikingly, this man also has the same appearance as Tian Fengmeng, with the only difference being the massive pride that was plain on his face.

Tian Longmeng knew that the appearance of this one meant trouble just like the other two so he attempted to move. What he was shocked to find out was that his body began to betray him and he began to float into towards the Angel Tian Fengmeng.

This Tian Fengmeng brandished an imperial bow that looked as if it was carved by the heavens itself. The Asura Tian Fengmeng and the old man Tian Fengmeng rose into the sky as well and similarly brandished the same bow.

These bows were the exact same, with absolute certainty. The only thing that was different was the arrows that were drawn. These are weren't physical arrows but manifestations of an extremely high and concentrated level of essence.

The arrow of the Asura gave off a presence of complete despair and carnage. The angel's arrow exuded a presence of marvel and awe. However, the most terrifying in Tian Longmeng's eyes was the old man's arrow that felt as if it weighed the dualities of life and death in its grasp.

That arrow was indifferent to all. Time, Space, Mortality, Immortality, the Heavens, the Earth, everything was perfectly balanced in supreme symmetry.

All the Tian Fengmeng's each pulled their bowstrings back to the maximum point with Tian Longmeng as the target. As they released, the entire abyss cried as it was ripped asunder, and Tian Longmeng's senses went to null.

.....

"You sure about this, Feng'er?" a lulling woman's voice sweetly flowed through the air.

This was answered by the contrasting sharpness of a man's voice. "If he can't handle this much then what is the sense of leaving him out of our sight."

This sharpness came from Tian Fengmeng who was sitting on a table inside Tian Longmeng's room while overseeing the unconscious 7-year-old.

"I know that much already. However, to use Imperial Dominance on the young kid is a bit much." The lulling voice continued.

This soothing voice came from Tian Fengxian who looked and sounded completely different from before. She still has her cold vibe around her, but instead of it being cold and distant, it was almost peaceful and heart-warming.

Tian Fengmeng laughed heartily and replied, "Perhaps. However, I need to be sure he does not end up in the wrong places at the wrong times. He needs to know who he must avoid at all costs until he can defend himself. Nevertheless, those people could be very crafty so I need to have him remember through engraving it into his natural instinct."

This Tian Fengmeng was very calculative and hearty in his speech; much like a great king who rules over an empire. This change could easily be seen within his now gleaming golden eyes that radiated like nine suns reaching over the heavens.

Tian Fengxian walked to the sleeping Tian Longmeng and traced her hand down his cheek before speaking in a very motherly tone. "I was surprised when he came home with a cultivation so I instantly sent my sense out but his body seemed to be in the same status; save for one or two cracks."

Tian Fengmeng straightened himself and casually replied, "Well, that was to be expected if he found that weird item." He then laughed, "To believe that I spent half my life looking for that item in the cage it was in, but this little boy just walks straight to it. They were destined for each other!"

Tian Fengxian kissed Tian Longmeng's cheek before rising and helping her husband off the table. "I hope that the item won't cause him too much trouble because if it does, I will personally end everyone and everything, and then come for you."

Tian Fengmeng wryly smiled at his wife before leaving the room after her.
