Chapter 1: The beginning

Bai Liu lazily open his eyes and reach out to his phone to check the time. When he see that it was still 6:00 am, he doesn't have a class on the morning so he decided to sleep a little longer. Then, his phone rings.

He picked it up after looking at the caller id and seeing his friend's number " Brother feng, what's up?" He said lazily. 

Bai Liu only have a few friends since he's quite a introvert person. When his mother passed away when he's 10 yrs old, his father immediately got together with the mistress and illegitimate son who was only a year younger than him that he was keeping outside when his mother was still living and build a new happy family of three without him.

He start living by himself when he finished high school since he can no longer endure living with his father. He start supporting himself too because he feels disgusted spending his father's money.

He managed to get into a good university by all his hardwork and got himself a scholarship. But, although he doesn't have to worry about paying each semester he still need money for his daily necessities and for the dorm he was staying at. He currently already working on a car but it's still not enough.

" Brother Liu, big news a friend of mine knew a author who was preparing to publish a new book and he was looking for a translator and an assistant. I recommended you to him, don't you like stuff like that." The voice on the other side said with an excited voice.

Cao Feng is a friend that he met in the university. They both have financial problem so they usually help each other out.

The sleepiness that Bai Liu was feeling immediately faded and was changed to excitement. " Really?!? Brother feng can you give me the number of the author?" He said happily.

"Of course! Call me if your transaction was successful, so that we can celebrate." He said happily.

Bai Liu laugh and jokingly agreed. 

After the call, he received the number of the author and immediately called it for details. They both agreed to meet the next day.

 *THE NEXT DAY*

Bai Liu washed up and choose to wear a formal white t-shirt and a black jeans and a pair of black converse. After fixing his hair in front of the mirror he went out.

The author and him decided to meet at the studio where the author was working. Instead of taking a bus, Bai Liu decided to just walk since it's still early. While walking, he passes by a bookshop that he never seen before. It's was strange because he walked pass this neighborhood almost everyday and never noticed a construction going on.

Despite the strange feeling that he was getting from the bookshop he still went inside. When he went inside the bookshop, he noticed that there's no one there. No costumer, no employees, nothing. There's just books, the deafening silence and the eerie feeling that he was feeling.

Bai Liu was surprised and thought that the bookshop was still not open. He turned around and was about to walked out when he heard someone called out his name. All the hairs on Bai Liu's body stands up.

"What the fuck was that?" He said to himself while looking around.

He was still thinking about the voice that he heard when a book suddenly fell off the shelf with a loud sound. He unconsciously walked towards the book with a dazed expression and was about to grab it.

Before his fingertips touch the book, it suddenly open by itself and a strong gush of wind pulled Bai Liu through the book and everything went black.

When he opened his eyes, his body was hurting everywhere and he was kneeling on a wooden floor. He looked up and realize that he was surrounded with people who was wearing ancient clothes and in front of him was a older man with a whip on his hand looking at him with disdain.

'what the? Where am I? Who are these people?' he asked through his mind while panicking.

While Bai Liu was still processing everything inside his head, a middle aged lady among the people who was surrounding him speak, " Bai Liuzhen aren't you too old to act this way?!? When are you going to mature and stop humiliating our Bai family?!" She angrily said while pointing her hand at Bai Liu.

Bai Liu look at her with confusion, " What did you call me?" He asked puzzled.

A younger lady then speaks up crying, " ha! Look at him! Do you want your mother to call you young master? Just because me and my mother born as a lowly commoners you look down at us!!" She said with a aggrieved expression.

Bai Liu look at her and was more confuse. ' is this a filming site or is this a prank of that bookshop?' he thought and start linking what happened before he opened his eyes forgetting the people in front of him.

Then a thought suddenly entee his mind, 'Could... could it be like one of those transmigration novels?'

A teenage boy then walked towards him and slap him hard on his face bringing him back to reality, " Even if you hate me, you don't have the right to slander me and my family!" He said with a righteous tone.

The older man who was holding a whip finally spoke, " Xiao lan that's enough. Don't waste your breath on that wastrel." He said with a calm voice, then turn to look at Bai Liu with disgusted expression. " Lock him to the small courtyard and don't give him anything for a week." He said.

Two muscular men who was wearing blue ancient uniform with long swords on their waist grab Bai Liu's arm and forcefully drag the dazed and confused Bai Liu away.

On their way to the location the old man said, they passes by multiple servants and each of them look at Bai Liu with a mocking and disgusted expression.

After they arrive at a small abandoned looking courtyard, they just tossed Bai Liu in and locked the gates. Bai Liu can hear their mocking laugh as they leave.

He turned around and saw a small cabin that was made of hard mud and straw that even has vines crawling everywhere. It looks like it will fell apart any moment or in the slightest touch. It was surrounded with tall grasses that reach Bai Liu's waist.

He reached out to his head and grab his own hair as hard as he could, "What the hell just happened?" He said in dazed looking at the cabin.

Bai Liu looked around once more and fall to the ground trying to process everything that happened before he got to this situation. He feels like he's losing his mind.

Then he heard a mechanical voice and a blue screen floating in front of him.

[Hello my esteemed host.]

[Congratulation, you are chosen to finished a very important missions .]

[How do you feel?]

[Do you want to see your first task?]

[Do you want to see your character information?]

[YES] [NO]

The blue screen asked multiple question without giving Bai Liu a moment to answer. 

After a moment of silence, Bai Liu's eyes lit up and finally speak, "what do you mean chosen? Do you mean that I transmigrated as a novel protagonist?" He said with a excited voice.

[What?]

Bai Liu speaks with a excited and expectant voice, " I mean... Aren't I chosen to be a protagonist and you're my golden finger?!" He said and stand up.

[Uhm...host... Why don't I explain the mission to you?] The system said with a hesitant voice.

Bai Liu nod vigorously and speak with enthusiasm, " sure sure go ahead!" 

[ You, Bai Liu was chosen among hundreds of candidates to transmigrate through different dimensions to complete certain missions. After completing all the missions you will be rewarded and will be send back to your original world.]

After hearing what the system said Bai Liu's eyes lit up even more then he heard the system continue.

[But, if the chosen host failed to complete all the missions, you will bear the consequences depends on how many missions you failed. The worst punishment will be death not only on the other dimensions but also on your original world.]

[Your mission is to correct the plot flow of the worlds you will be transmigrated to. You will have to make sure that the protagonist of the world will survive and will be successful.]

The light on Bai Liu's eyes suddenly vanished, "wait...what? Aren't I the protagonist?" He asked confused.

[No, host.] The system answer with a straightforward tone. 

"Then, what role am I going to be?" Bai Liu asked.

[You can be the cannon fodder, extra, side character, small villain or the ultimate villain. Isn't exciting? You can never guess what role you will have in each missions.]

The smile emoji of the system really annoyed Bai Liu "Then, what role do I have in this world?" He said impatiently.

The system answer very enthusiastic.

[You are the unfavored son of the Bai family! Congratulation, you're the most miserable small villain of this world.]
