Challenge

It has been a year since Dev and Tara started their relationship, their relationship was becoming stronger day by day.

It was Tara's birthday today. Dev woke up, and a gentle look appeared on his face when he saw Tara sleeping on the bed. He didn't want to wake her up, so he silently left the bed for the washroom.

After coming out of the bathroom, he found out that she was still sleeping, so he went up to her, poured water on her from the jug, and ran.

Dev just reached the gate when he had to stop because of the shout of Tara. He turned around and put a fake smile on his face and said, "Happy Birthday! Did you like my first birthday bomb?"

She glared at him, and then a smile appeared on her face which made Dev's face ugly, as a bad feeling arose in his heart.

She said, "I'm going to my parent's house today, and will spend the night there."

Dev glared daggers at her after hearing this but she still kept smiling, he sighed and said, "You can't break your promise. Tonight was going to be our night."

The smile still didn't disappear from her face, she said, "When did I say that I won't let you do it? We can still do it in my parent's house."

He scoffed, "Do you take me for a fool? Your father would break my legs if I tried to enter your room at night."

Tara jeered, "That's your problem, not mine. I didn't know, you are such a coward."

Dev smiled and said, "Your goading wouldn't work on me. But if you want to challenge me you would've to increase the reward."

The smile finally disappeared from her face, she looked confused, she asked, "What more do you want?"

A smile appeared on his face, he answered, "If I enter your room before midnight, we'll do it my way, not yours."

"My only condition is that you can't ask any of your parents or grandparents to sleep with you in your room, you should be the only one in your room," continued Dev.

She looked at the confident smile on his face, she scoffed, "You sure are confident. Just wait and see how I turn your smug smile into an ugly one."

Dev grinned and said, "Oh, I'm waiting." He then proceeded toward her, kissed her on her lips, pressed on her right breast, and ran.

Tara wasn't ready for this, it took some time for her to come to the fact that she has been taken advantage of, she shouted in anger, "Just you wait."

Dev responded in laughter and said, "It was just a trailer, baby. We'll do many things tonight."

Her face became bright red after hearing that, she humphed and then left for the washroom.

She didn't talk with him that whole day even when they were driving to her parent's place. The reason for not talking was: whenever she looked at his face, a smug look will appear on his face. That smug look irritated her to no end.

They reached her parents' place in the evening, the party was about to start at 8 and end at 11.

Dev had already made his plans for how to enter her room before 12.

Dev and Tara went up to her parents and touched their feet. Her mother smiled at Dev but her father's reaction was entirely different. He was glaring at Dev. Dev felt very awkward facing his glare. Dev was thinking about what to talk about when he suddenly saw his parents' car coming.

Dev hasn't met his parents for months so he forgot about Tara's parents. He nudged Tara toward his parent's car and then proceeded toward the car with her.

A gentle look appeared on Isha's face, and a proud look appeared on Aryan's face when they saw Dev and Tara together.

Dev smiled wryly after seeing the proud look on his father's face. He proceeded toward them and then bent down to touch their feet, they blessed him by patting his head. They then went toward Tara's parents and started having a conversation.

Tara was still mad at Dev, so she left him alone and went toward her friends, he sighed after seeing such behavior from her.

The party started after some time, it was time for gifts, Dev gifted Tara a customized AI watch, which cost him a fortune. She didn't ditch him during the party, so they danced for a while.

The party ended after 11. Everyone started leaving. Isha and Aryan had already left after giving her the gifts, they didn't stay for the whole party.

Tara started searching for Dev after the party ended, but she couldn't find him anywhere, even her father was nowhere to be seen. She started looking all around the house, she still didn't find them.

She finally found them when she entered her room, she saw her father and Dev were conversing and laughing. The glare from before was nowhere to be seen instead of the glare her father was patting Dev's shoulder and laughing.

A shocked, as well as confused look, appeared on her face, she had no idea what had changed. Her father and Dev talked for some time, and then her father left the room. Her father saw her while leaving, he nodded at her and left.

She was stunned by seeing no reaction from her father about Dev staying in her room.

She looked at Dev, he looked at her. A confusing expression was on her face while a winning smile was on his face.

He extended his hand toward her and pulled her closer to him. He then smugly said, "So, I win."

Tara confusingly asked, "How did you make it happen?"

"It doesn't matter, what matters is that I get to do things my way," said a smiling Dev.

Her face became red after hearing him. Before she could try to speak anything, her lips got sealed by his lips. She also started responding to the kiss. He released her lips, she was confused as to why he stopped, he looked at her smiling and said, "Don't be in such a rush. Let me close the door first, my love."

She glared at him and scoffed, "Who was the one who initiated the kiss?"

He smiled and then closed the door, He came back to Tara, and then he raised her chin by his index finger and started moving his face closer to hers. Her breathing became rough, they could see love for each other in their eyes. She didn't wait for him to initiate the kiss, she pushed her lips on his. He wasn't ready for her to initiate the kiss but he didn't linger on this and started playing with her.

His hands were moving all over her body, it started going down. He started undressing her. They got on the bed and started doing it.

In the morning, when he woke up a gentle look appeared on his face when he saw naked Tara sleeping next to him. She looked very peaceful, he could look at her sleeping for eternity. He moved toward her and kissed her on her forehead. The kiss woke her up.

"Sorry, I didn't want to wake you up but, I just couldn't stop myself from kissing you," said guiltily Dev.

She smiled after seeing his guilty look and then said something which energized Dev. She said, "Don't worry about it. So, wanna do it one more time."

Dev got excited after hearing this and started nodding like a pecking chicken. She smiled after seeing his reaction and then, they started doing it.

Dev left after taking a bath, he didn't want to see her family so he left from the backdoor.

Time flew, It has been 17 years since Dev and Tara started their relationship. Not much has changed in their life except the fact that now they both looked mature. Tara's parents and maternal grandparents passed away in these 17 years due to an accident, their relationship started going through rough times during that phase. He didn't want to lose her, so he worked through it and now their relationship is stronger than ever.

Today was the 3rd death anniversary of her family, she was Sad from the morning. The first thing Dev did after waking up is to hug her for more than 10 minutes, she smiled seeing him caring for her.

She had no idea that this day was going to be very different from what she imagined. Dev had decided to propose to her today for marriage.

The more Dev spent his life with her, the more he fell in love with her. She was perfect for him. Even his parents tell him sometimes that he isn't gonna find someone better than her for him. His mother was very much vocal about his marriage with Tara. She'll bring this topic in every conversation since the last year.

He had already made plans about how he's going to propose to her. He has been preparing for this for the last few months. It was very hard for him to keep this proposal secret from her.
