Chapter 13

"Erica, is this it?" asked Ashley.

"Yes, this building looks quite small," said Erica.

"It is," said Ashley.

"Let's go and knock on that door," said Erica.

Ashley grabbed Erica and pulled her back.

"What are you doing?" asked Ashley.

"What are you doing?" asked Erica.

"I asked you first," said Ashley.

"I'm going to go knock on that door," said Erica.

"But that's not safe," said Ashley.

"Okay, we don't have to knock on the door," said Erica.

"Then what are we going to do?" asked Ashley.

"Prank him back, that guy is definitely pranking us," said Erica.

"How are you going to prank that guy?" asked Ashley.

"Well, we are going to do it the same way, but instead of notes, we are going to write it big on the ground," said Erica.

"That's illegal to go into someone's house," protested Ashley.

"I didn't say we will go into the house, I said we will write on the ground," said Erica.

"You mean write outside of that house?" asked Ashley.

"Yes," replied Erica.

"What are you going to write?" asked Ashley.

"Wait until you see," said Erica.

Then she pulled a red marker out from her jacket. On the ground, Erica wrote the words "Go away."

"Do you think writing that will work?" asked Ashley.

"Probably," said Erica.

"It's getting dark," said Ashley.

"Let's go have dinner!" said Erica.

"Alright," replied Ashley.

Ashley and Erica walked all the way back to Ashley's house, in the freshly fallen snow. Ashley told her dad that she and Erica were going to go out and buy some food.

"Do you think that is even his house?" asked Ashley.

"Yes," replied Erica.

"How will we know if it worked?" asked Ashley.

"Just leave the words there, he will probably find it," said Erica.

Just then, Erica's phone rang.

"Who is it?" asked Ashley, worried that it was someone dangerous.

"A friend," replied Erica, then she pulled her phone out and answered it.

"Hello?" Erica said into the phone.

"Hey, Erica!" replied Erica's friend, Sophia.

"What's up?" said Erica.

"Have you looked at the news yet?" asked Sophia.

"Nope," replied Erica.

"You should check the news," said Sophia.

"What's it about?" asked Erica.

"Someone got arrested, and he lives quite close to where you and Ashley live," said Sophia.

"What's his name?" asked Erica.

"I don't remember his name, but he goes to a rival school and they said he is always dressed in black," Sophia asked.

"Please try to remember his name," said Erica.

"Alexander," replied Sophia.

"Alexander and dressed in all black?" asked Erica.

"Yes, do you know him? You said you haven't looked at the news yet," Sophia said.

"It's a long story," said Erica.

"Okay, tell me later," said Sophia.

"So what happened to him?" asked Erica.

"He got arrested for going into someone's house and stealing stuff," replied Sophia.

Erica gasped. Ashley looked at Erica worried.

"What is it?" asked Ashley.

"I will talk to you later, Sophia," said Erica.

"Okay, bye," replied Sophia, then they hung up.

"That man who had been sending us notes is dangerous," said Erica.

"How do you know?" asked Ashley.

"Sophia just told me how he got arrested," replied Erica.

"Really?" asked Ashley, in astonishment.

"Yes, at least he won't be causing us any more trouble," said Erica. "He was arrested for armed robbery. He broke into a house to rob the place and he had a gun on him in case he encountered anyone."
