Protector of the World Tree

I suddenly woke up hearing someone calling me. "My child, its time to wake up." I slowly stood up and watched the place surrounding me. I looked behind my back and saw an enormous tree, as if we were one. "My child." Suddenly, creatures coming from different directions appear in front of me, forming a crescent-moon shape. One by one they bowed and flower petals fell from the sky. "Welcome home, my child."

To the Human World 2

Rai's POV

I put the cup down and stared at Danallis the Dryad.

"So, the real reason I was sent to the human world is to seek out a mighty dragon who's causing a disturbance inside Lustina?" I said.

"That's right, my lord, you don't need to worry about these things because we have been securing the seal for the last thousand years." She replied.

"*Sigh* I believe in you."

"And also, my lord?" Danallis the dryad.

"What?" I asked her.

"The people living on this continent are not just ordinary people, but they are also immortals." She said and I stopped midway as I carefully looked at her but didn't open my mouth.

"The people who have been living on this continent are blessed by your ancestor, Alexio, as they never age or die. And I think this might be the reason why the dark continent kept on attacking us." she said, as she continued dropping information.

"So, you're trying to say..."

"What I meant, my lord, is that the other continents want to covet our immortality and use it in a good or bad way." She answered

"They can never attain the life of immortality." I said

"What do you mean by that, my lord?" She asked as I stood up and walked through the window.

"They killed a god." I could hear a gasp coming from my back.

"Because of greediness, they betrayed their God and killed him. That's why others aren't willing to support them, not even a single penny, and they were cursed to become an ordinary human being or, what other people say, a mortal." I answered while watching the sunset.

Night came, and I was planning to head out to look for dragon clues. I went to the back alley. Maybe I could find someone who knows about the dragon.

"Dragon? Do dragons exist in this era?" The man looked at me like I was a madman.

"You should be careful of what you say, boy. Many people might misunderstand what you're talking about and abduct you." The old man warned me and continued my journey.

*Sigh* It looks like I have to continue finding the dragon tomorrow. I saw people with unfamiliar faces as I went back to the local inn. Even though they are wearing cloaks, it's my first time seeing powerful auras radiating into their bodies.

"That will be 15 silvers."

Well, as long as I kept my mouth shut and minding my business, I would be undiscovered. I slipped upstairs, locked the door, and closed all the windows. I was seated in a squat position and concentrated as I tried to communicate with the World Tree.

'You called child.' Ellen

"You lied to me." I bluntly said.

"…. I'm sorry for lying to you, but it was the only reason that I could convince you to visit the human world." The world tree said.

"It's fine; I wanted to look at the human world with my own eyes." I said.

'Thank you for understanding, child.' Ellen.

"But something's bothering me."

"What is it?" The world tree asked.

"When I went to the back alley, there were bandits that had dark magic. How did they get those powers?" I asked the world tree because I know she has lots of information coming from everywhere.

"...."

"World Tree?"

"It is not the right time for you to know, but someday I will tell you." The World Tree's voice slowly vanished.

"World Tree! Tell me!" When I woke up, I was lying on the ground. The sound of the birds chirping catches my attention through the window. I picked myself up and went to the bathroom to quickly shower and get dressed. I ordered some light meals for the day when I went downstairs. I went outside and looked around for some useful items after I finished my meal. Furthermore, I saw a very different pendant, so I stopped halfway. That makes me think of the pendant I saw in a book.

Wait…. What if….

"Excuse me, can I have one of these?" I said as I pointed my finger through the colorful pendant.

"That will be 10 golds." I was about to give the money to him when someone intervened. I turned to face the person behind me. They were four in number, but just like me, they were all dressed in cloaks.

"I beg your pardon, Mr., but it looks like you're scamming this man by expensively selling this fake pendant." The golden hair guy said.

Based only on their auras, I knew who the four were. The young duke, the red-haired guy, and the crown prince were the ones I saw, along with the guy from the inn, though I didn't see his escorts. They were not your typical people.

"How dare you accuse me! These pendants are all real!" The owner said trying to defend his standing.

"Then why are you selling it at a high price? You could be imprisoned for fraud." The red-haired guy tried to squeeze him.

"That's, that's." Poor guy, he was just trying to make money, but he was surrounded by the four.

"I know you're out of financial support, but you should not deceive other people by selling fake accessories." The golden-haired guy spoke again and the elderly man broke down in tears. Arrested by the authorities was an elderly man. As one might anticipate from the crown prince, he will undoubtedly guide his people along a moral path.

"I sincerely apologize for causing a sin earlier." The people who were looking in our direction dispersed and went back to what they were doing.

The four of them exchanged glances before turning to approach me. They lowered their heads slightly when they were in front of me.

"We would like to apologize, Mr." The black-haired guy said.

"It's fine, but I have a favor to ask." But I just shrugged it off.

"What is it?" They looked cautious when I said it.

"Can I still have the pendant?" I shyly asked while scratching my head.

"Pardon?"

"Yes?"

"Huh?"

"Hm?"

They were quite baffled by my request. I scratched my cheeks out of embarrassment.

"Even though it's fake, I want to keep that pendant since it reminds me of something." I answered.

They sighed, and the guy with blue hair and a coat gave the pendant to me.

"Thank you so much," I said, gently bowing. "Then, I'll be on my way." I bowed once again and left.

"What a strange guy." Red-hair guy.
