Looking Way Better.

He had a broad smile on his face as he was staring at me. Then he began walking toward me until he reached me and placed his right hand across my shoulders.

"Eric, my guy". I said to him after he placed his right hand across my shoulders.

"Yeah, that's me". He uttered with that smile still plastered on his face.

"Stop over-feeling yourself". My voice resounded again as a smile appeared on my face as well.

And after I said that, the both of us laughed a little. We were walking toward the building where our classroom was situated as Eric's right hand was still across my shoulders.

After that laughter that came from the both of us, silence ensued for some seconds before Eric broke the silence,

"So, what happened yesterday, Lucas?".

"What do you mean?". I voiced out with a kind of inquisitive facial expression.

"We were supposed to head home together along with our other friends yesterday, but you were nowhere to be found. Where did you disappear to?".

And it was at this moment I understood what he was talking about. Of course, I can't tell him where I was truly headed to, that I was in search of a job. So I'd have to tell him something else.

"Oh! Yeah, there was something important I needed to handle at home. And I needed to arrive home early so I'd be able to finish handling it on time, that was the reason why I left without you guys". I stated.

Eric nodded his head a little before saying, "But you'd be able to head home along with us today, right?".

"Most likely". I responded.

"Good to hear".

After uttering that, Eric glanced at me from up to down before voicing out again,

"Sheesh".

And I was like, "What is it?".

"This dressing of yours is dope, this is super cool. Look at those sneakers, damn Lucas".

All I did was to chuckle a little after those words were done flowing out of his mouth. Then his voice resounded again,

"Where did you get these clothes and shoes?".

..This same question that my mum and sister asked me.

"I bought them". I responded.

"You bought them? Where did you see the money to buy them?". He threw another question at me.

"Come on, Eric. You think I spend every single money my mum gives to me? I save some, I have savings. It was part of that savings that got me these clothes and shoes".

"Wow! That's nice. Guess I'd try to start saving from the money my parents give to me though they are little".

"You should do so".

Eric and I kept walking toward the building where our classroom was situated until we entered it. And right now, we were walking in the hallway heading toward our lockers.

We reached our lockers and took whatever we wanted to take from them before we began heading toward our classroom until we reached and entered it...

I wasn't late today, so I witnessed when the first teacher that was supposed to step foot into our classroom for today did so. All students were just sitting comfortably in their seats as the teacher was teaching.

It was a female teacher that was most likely in her early thirties which we were all familiar with. Yes, this wouldn't be the first time she'd be stepping foot into our classroom to teach us.

She was a subject teacher who had been teaching us for a long time, so we were all familiar with her.

It got to a point where she began writing things on the board, which she told us to transfer into our books. We didn't waste time to begin doing so.

I brought out the book I'd been using for this particular subject from my bag along with a pen and began writing with immediate effect.

In a few minutes more, she was done teaching, and many students were done writing the things she wrote on the board. I was among the students who were done writing the things she wrote on the board.

After she walked out of our classroom, it didn't take long for another teacher to walk into it...a male this time.

..It was a time for activities, so teachers were going to be trooping into our classroom in and out.

The male teacher that had just stepped foot into our classroom after the lady left didn't waste time to begin teaching us. And his teaching was okay, wasn't boring to make a person start feeling sleepy.

His teachings have always been okay ever since he started teaching us. Well, he taught until he was done teaching before walking out of our classroom.

And after he'd left our classroom, two more teachers entered our classroom and taught us before the bell rang to signify 'break hour'. Yes, a time for everyone to head toward the cafeteria to eat.

Though I ate breakfast before coming to school this morning, I was already feeling somehow hungry again...I didn't know what was wrong with me.

Well, I was a human though who had a digestive system. So I guess the food I ate digested really fast, it wasn't weird at all.

I'm sure many students who were rushing toward the cafeteria to eat also ate breakfast before coming to school today. But look at them rushing toward the cafeteria like they hadn't eaten in weeks.

So it wasn't only me, there was nothing weird about it...

Eric and I, along with two other guys, were heading toward the school cafeteria currently. These two other guys were also my friends, though, Eric was the closest of them all.

And their names were Dean and Edwin. Dean was 17-years-old, our age mate, while Edwin was 16-years-old, a year younger than us, but he could still be referred to as our age mate to an extent.

The four of us kept on heading toward the cafeteria until we reached and entered it. Then we went to take plates, then stood in the queue next waiting for it to reach our turn to get served.

We waited in the queue for minutes before it finally reached our turn to get served. We got served one after the other.

All the different dishes that were prepared by the cooks were served on our plates.

Right now, all four of us were occupying chairs around a certain table with our plates of food in front of us. The food looks yummy, and we couldn't wait to begin digging in.

There were other students in the cafeteria occupying chairs around tables as well. And all of them had their foods in front of them, many of them were already eating.

I, Eric, and the others started digging in after the passing of a few seconds...and wouldn't lie, the food was so delicious.

And because of how delicious it was, we couldn't stop for a second, we just kept eating and eating.

We were done eating by now, and we weren't the only ones, other students were done eating as well as they were already standing up from their seats and leaving the cafeteria.

Since we were done eating, we saw no reason to keep staying in the cafeteria. So we stood up from our seats and walked out of the cafeteria as well.

Activities would resume once we reach our classroom along with our classmates. Teachers would resume trooping into our classroom one after the other to teach us...

******

It was already closing hour, and I, Eric, Dean, and Edwin were heading home together. I do enjoy heading home with them because there'd be a lot of conversations and so on.

Each of us was carrying our school bags and walking on the road along with other students. We were still walking when Dean's voice suddenly resounded with his gaze on my clothes,

"I can't help but admire Lucas's dressing over and over again. It is too dope".

"I tell you bro. He said he was able to buy these clothes and shoes with money he took from his savings, so I'm going to try my best to start saving as well no matter how little I save every day, so I can buy these kinds of nice-looking clothes". Edwin said backing up Dean's statement.

"We should all try our best to start saving from now on even though our pocket moneys are little". Eric voiced out.

Dean and Edwin nodded their heads to what Eric just said now, then I shook my head a little before saying,

"You guys are so funny".

"No, Lucas, this isn't about being funny. You've truly inspired us". Eric stated with his gaze focused on me.

They weren't talking about saving up to buy clothes like mine because the ones they've been wearing or the ones they were wearing now weren't looking good at all, or looked like rags.

..No, that wasn't the case. They looked good, but the ones I was wearing now were looking way better.
