“Shane?” Luke murmured. “I do think it’ll be okay.”

“Maybe,” Shane said, but didn’t dare to hope just quite yet. He had Jason. Maybe that would be enough, if Dad couldn’t deal with this, or wanted Shane to change. And he still had—”Got you and the girls and…and maybe Jase.”

“Yep,” Luke said, his voice barely audible. “Even if I do have to share you with Rebecca.”

“Only my hands.”

“Mm,” Luke said, and kissed a patch of bare skin. “Are you ever going to tell me why you hold Bex’s hand and play the boyfriend? I know it’s not just about you hiding.”

“Not my thing to tell,” Shane said.

“Okay,” Luke said—because, really, that was Luke. It was all okay with Luke, it always had been, and Shane loved him fiercely for that. “D’you want to get breakfast? Anna’s been clashing around for ages. And Dad’ll take Megan out to her ballet lesson soon.”

“You’ve got yours at eleven,” Shane said.
