They didn't say anything, only silence with the bodies of the two lying on Caroline's bed. Only Frey kept her eyes open, Caroline sleeping in his arms first. The sign of his Mate is gone, but his love for Caroline is still there. Confusing indeed, but he knew why.

His hand moved slowly to caress Caroline's black mane, her face looking happy with her gaze directed at her Mate's thin face. Is he still allowed to call Caroline his Mate after he doesn't have the Mate mark which is a sign that Caroline is his? I don't know if he doesn't know, all he knows is that he feels the same way.

Still in love with that girl after what happened all this time. His smile widened, pulling Caroline's left hand out for him to see, and his smile faded as soon as he could see a strange pattern circling Caroline's Mate mark. His heart ached to see all this, but it hurt, even more, when he knew that only Caroline was hurt.
