"Ugh! Shut up, you stupid noise!" he groaned in an irrational morning haze. the sound of the alarm slicing through his dream world.
Suddenly, an electric shock from his wrist jolted him awake. "Ouch! What the hell who, what?" Adam stammered, disoriented.
[Good morning. It's 6:00 am, and you have 50 minutes until the classes start] the robotic voice crackled in his ear
"60 minutes? Class? Ah, Ai!" His brain finally kicked into gear.
"What's the problem? You could have woken me up properly! What's with this electric shock!!" Adam demanded.
[If you are late, according to guidelines, you will be charged 100 credits.] The Robotic responded with a punishment instead of an explanation.
Adam glanced at the time, feeling the pressure. "A hundred credits? I have no idea what that means, but waking up with an electric shock doesn't sit right, even in my fractured memory. Ah! I've got 60 minutes left."
"Hey Ai, how long does it take to reach there, and how?" he inquired, his thoughts racing.
[30 minutes. However, the bus leaves in 15 minutes. If you miss it, you'll need 2 hours to get there] replied the robotic voice, dropping a bombshell.
"So, I've only got a freaking 10 minutes to get ready!" Adam muttered to himself, the sense of urgency kicking in.
"Okay, okay. Let's get this show on the road," he murmured to himself. Rushing, he stumbled towards the bathroom, nearly tripping over his own feet in the process.
As he splashed water on his face, trying to shake off the last traces of sleep, he glanced at the mirror. His dark, disheveled hair and sleepy eyes stared back at him. "Geez, I look like a half-asleep panda," he chuckled.
Brushing his teeth in a hurry, 'Only 11 minutes left!'
He dashed out to change into his uniform, but the peculiar outfit in Ai's hologram left him flustered. Struggling with the unfamiliar attire, especially the tie, he managed to get it on, feeling surprisingly confident and suave. "Don't I look hot in this?" he smirked at his reflection.
Just as he was about to leave, hunger pangs struck. "Hey Ai, I'm hungry," Adam exclaimed, hoping for a quick fix.
[Use the kitchen for food] suggested Ai. But it dawned on Adam suddenly. "Wait, kitchen?" The word brought no recall of such a place in his memory.
[Yes, but you didn't bring any food, so it's useless to check] Ai's response remained straightforward.
"What food!? Hey, you didn't tell me that I have to bring any," Adam exclaimed.
[You didn't ask] Ai replied in its usual emotionless robotic tone.
A sudden alert chimed. "[Ding! You have 7 minutes left until the bus leaves]," Ai announced, utterly lacking any sense of urgency.
"Seriously! Well, I'll have my food later. Can't miss the first-day bus," Adam grumbled.
Taking a deep breath, with only 7 minutes left for the bus to depart, Adam rushed out, his stomach growling as he embarked on the first chaotic moments of his day at the Academy of Esclave.
