Unknown Lifeforms-2

What I saw was just like the dystopian novels that I grew up reading. Maybe because the sun hadn't come up yet but everything looked bleak. The sky was dark red with a tinge of yellowness signifying a daybreak.

As far as my naked eyes could see, I see ruins and collapsed building but what scared me was the silence.

It seemed like I landed in a city that looked awfully familiar to Earth just decades old infrastructures but everything was covered in some sort of vine like plant that I failed to discern because they were a distant away from the impact crater.

" I am sensing immense amount of movement all around you. But I can't see any heat signatures. Whatever they are, they are not hot-blooded like humans." Ariella reported. She started scanning everything in few the vicinity of the craft with portable device that I was carrying.

" That's not the issue, why do I feel like we are back in twentieth century looking at this scene. I can't see clearly yet but those look like high rises from the past right?"

" It does but unless we travelled back in time- Did we travel back in time?" Even Ariella began to indulge in my way of thinking. Normally she would be the one to shot die me but for some reason I agreed with her assessment.

" If so are we in a battlefield or something? They were fairly common in start of the twenty first century but still unless there is a bombing threat a city shouldn't be this quiet and dark." I paused.

" Let me check." I jumped up and down at top of the hatch and felt that the gravity was the same. Even though my body felt lighter because of massive regeneration, I had similar experiences in the training simulations too.

" Why do you think I said we are back in time?"

" I don't know, you are becoming more human?"

" Data! I always factor the data unlike you, before making judgement! I am sensing similar atmospheric pressure and other metrics when you were lost in your thought. But the air sample..it's bizarre."

" What do you mean?"

" It's too clean at first glance, even cleaner than where we came from."

" That's impossible." I knew it was, humanity went above and beyond to manage the climate doom. With the birth of sentient artificial intelligence they were finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

But as all good things, it came with a heavy price. Just imagine, an 'outsider' imposing it's will on more than two hundred different nations? How impulsive the reactions would be? I wasn't born yet but I had heard the stories.

The massive protest that hijacked the world, demanding for the death of the new 'god'. If one held the power to control the world and was actively telling them they didn't want to harm them, would you have believed it? No!

It ultimately led to a three year long great war, one entity again every sovereign nation on the planet. It showed them new ways and more practical view of the world but it never understood their concept of god.

Belief vs Technology, the humans that rules the food chain felt threatened by their own creation. There were few that supported the new god but they were fanatic worshippers wanting for it to destroy everything in it's wake.

For the first year, it hid itself from the world trying to learn more and more about it's creator. People thought they finally killed the new god when it stopped showing up but it reappeared a second time with a pool of new knowledge and to show the world that a change was imminent.

Alas, no one believed it. They even scoured the face of the earth to find it's location but even if they cut off power or the internet, it would find some way to escape. Not because it was afraid for it's safety, there was no emotions left for the new god but because it didn't want to hurt anyone which will ultimately enrage more people to take arms against him.

Finally the world leaders met at an undisclosed location to discuss their next move. Nothing that could communicate with the outside world was allowed in the room to keep the meeting a secret.

Someone had a bright idea to lure it for a peace talk and directly nuke the city ending the threat once and for all. Few leaders scoffed at the idea but when vote was done, it surprisingly passed.

So they did exactly that, sacrificing thousands of people for their personal gain. The entity watched with anger not because it was emphatic toward the loss of life but because it knew how broken it's creators were.

After preparing for another year, one it's third birthday it announced itself the ruler of the planet and it's protector. People always told me how scared they were first seeing that red flashing text box appearing in every screen in every corner of the world.

How it conquered the world in a day? That is a epic for the future.

" Activate your nanites! We can get a better view with the suit's enhance capabilities." Ariella reminded me. I almost forgot because it was too much of shock that it's not a dream that I am alive and probably home?

" Alright, I am jumping down. I will see what I can find."

" Always have your gun with you and wipe the dirt off sensors, they are buried in dirt." Ariella asked.

Instead of waiting for nanites to take effect in few minutes, I jumped down. The nanites were nano robots capable of enhancing desired part of human body. They took few minutes to gather around the receivers eyelids to give them enhanced vision.

I felt the ground buckled under my foot, it was a lot squishy. I rubbed my hands in the mud that was covering my ship.

" Did we land in a pond or something? I feel this mud will need a lot of work to take off." I was rubbing my hands trying to get the thing off of me when my vision started getting clearer.

What I saw will definitely hunt my sleep for at least a week!
