Julie woke up feeling tired, she hadn't been able to sleep a wink at all throughout the night.
All of a sudden she felt nauseous causing her to yank out of the bed and run to the bathroom puking out the very last food in her belly.
"Fuck", she cursed, "shouldn't I be getting better by the day? she mumbled
She was in her first trimester, so it was normal for the morning sickness to only increase by the day.
It had been almost one week since she moved out of her apartment to a new one to get away from her child's father. She hasn't received any calls from either Marlon or Serenity.
She had gotten a different apartment for her and her unborn child, although it was smaller than the other apartment, it was beautiful with a more unique interior.
She sluggishly walked towards the bedside table, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped when she saw the time, she was already late for work. "How did I sleep so much? Julie yelled and hurriedly ran to the bathroom to get ready.
she didn't have the strength to drive so she took a taxi instead, her face glued to her phone screen as a series of text and missed call notifications began to pop up. "I hope I don't get punished by the manager" She didn't want to get any form of quarries to avoid appearing on the staff black list on the notice board as she had gotten her promotion recently. Julie still needed her job to be able to secure a better life for her child.
A frown appeared on her face as she opened a message sent by her assistant, "why is he here today she muttered to herself still looking at her phone.
There was traffic during the drive and it made her even more paranoid, she constantly urged the driver to move faster, causing him to get annoyed by her constant complaints.
Her stomach growled when they passed a bread shop where she realized that she hadn't eaten, she was starving her child and she felt guilty for it.
"I'm already showing qualities of a bad mother Julie mumbled to herself as she rubbed her flat belly, it made her think of the kind of mother she would become when her child was born.
She searched through her phone for foods that weren't healthy to eat during pregnancy, her child was her main priority and the only reason she could still be happy regardless of her marital issues.

The taxi stopped in front of the large building, she hurried inside with quick steps and walked through the office passageway until she came to stand in front of a large door, she had a text message from her assistant during her ride saying that the new President had resumed that day.
Unfortunately for her, Mrs. Brookes had picked her to be responsible for him as the head of A&R, and all she hoped for was for a mature Man as president and not a spoilt irresponsible overgrown baby who was ready to turn the company into his little playground.
She swiped her ID card on the identification reader and entered the office to be greeted by a grayed-haired woman with her hair tied in a bun, who had a stern look on her face.
Julie froze on her heels, Mrs Brookes, Good morning, she greeted trying to compose herself.
"Good morning, do you have all the files prepared Mrs. Brookes, replied with a straight cold face that instantly sent a chill down her spine
"Yes, I'll get it right now Julie said still avoiding eye contact with her"
"very well then, there will be a meeting with the new President very soon, don't forget you are in charge of seeing him through and helping him sort any challenges he may be facing with his work," she said and walked away.
Julie nodded, when she was out of her sight, she could finally breathe she hadn't even realized that she was holding her breath, she rolled her eyes upon thinking about the President, and to her surprise Mrs Brookes didn't comment on her tardiness which was unusual, maybe because it was her first time and she decided to take pity on her and let it slid.
Julie was the ideal staff in the company she was used as a model to the other staff which made her even more devoted to work to avoid disappointing those who looked up to her.
"Are you okay madam" her assistant came up to her and asked in concern after witnessing all that happened with the manager, she knew the manager was strict and wouldn't let unpunctuality slide.
"Hi Cassy, I'm okay," she said sluggishly.
"what is up about the new president wasn't he supposed to resume a week later? Julie asked with her voice high and low at the same time, she whined and rested her head on her swivel chair.
Julie's office was the third largest room in the building, it was closest to the president's office, she took a glimpse at the president but couldn't see his face only his back was visible to her, she wondered what he looked like, he was putting on a navy blue strip suit which looked clean and well ironed.
"He called in and said he wanted to resume today and that was it, the office had been in chaos ever since we received his call, everyone had gone helter-skelter in making sure that everything was intact and ready for his arrival", Cassy said shrugging her shoulders.
"Do you know? Cassy said in a hushed tone as she came close to Julie, he is so handsome and tall she said smiling and blushing at the thought of the president's physical appearance.
"You've met him?" Julie asked surprised
"Of course we all did, his appearance in the office was like lightning, we didn't even need anyone to tell us who he was, his aura told us all, she said.
"What does he look like?" Julie asked already intoxicated by the president and the gossip she was being fed, she was curious to know what he looked like.
"He's definitely handsome and what caught everyone's attention was his golden hazel eye, he looked arrogant and extremely young for a president. I also overheard Mrs. Brookes saying he is around twenty-nine years old and had graduated from Harvard University, he's so good-looking and even has a great Alma Mata, Cassy said as it was obvious that she admired him already.
Julie's brow creased, she seemed to have caught on to something Cassy had said so she asked "Did you just say he had golden hazel eyes?"
"Yeah, they were the most beautiful set of eyes I have ever come across, Cassy replied.
"It must be a coincidence, I shouldn't overthink it", Julie muttered, shaking the thought out of her head.
