Chapter 77 : Family Expectations
*Trinity's POV*
I was finally stepping down from the stand. My testimony was done. I could breathe now. Exhaustion seemed to take over my body at the exact same time that I noticed Matthew making his way toward me.
Finally, I could get some rest.
"Ready to go?" Matthew asked, holding his hand out to me.
"Go?" I asked in confusion, but grabbed his hand nonetheless.
"Yes, remember, we are going to that family dinner at my parents house?" Matthew reminded me.
I groaned inwardly. Looks like I wouldn't be getting that rest after all. Matthew could see the disappointment on my face and I watched as his lit up.
"We don't have to go if you don't want to anymore," he said quickly. "I could always call and cancel."
"No, no," I answered with a sigh. "We have to do this eventually, might as well get it over now. You never know, maybe it will be better than we expected."
"Yeah, right," Matthew mumbled under his voice as he led me by hand out of the courthouse.
