Acceber was a little more greedy than she imagined. Her experiences during the apocalypse could be described as living in extreme harshness, where she starved to death countless times. Even with food being distributed in her team, following her brother's lead.
'That ungrateful bastard donated all the things we collected in the mouth of his pitiful white flower who couldn't contribute anything to the team! He would also get mad at me if I ate a piece of bread without caring about his girlfriend, which is crazy. If I hadn't died under his hands, I might still be suffering right now.'
Acceber never thought she'd gain consciousness a week later. She found that her surroundings had changed, and she might have been transported beside the river when she was unconscious.
'Have I gained space powers? That's great news! At least I can finally prepare for more stocks before the apocalypse. I should first gain more money by playing stocks and hitting the lotto jackpot! I can also liquidate the money Nicoletta originally owned to buy initial food and material stocks.'
Acceber decided to drink some spring water from her space to relieve the fatigue in her body. She also took a bath and focused on achieving her goals afterward. 'This body is truly well-conditioned!'
She went out of space and used Nicoletta's computer to trade in stocks. Then, she ventured into the largest lotto outlet to do big things. She was basing everything on what she could remember from her past life.
There was a time when they raided a newspaper company and got trapped for five days. She was so bored out of her wits that she decided to read all the articles that were not damaged when the virus broke into the city and turned everyone into hungry man-eating monsters with hideous faces.
While walking on the street, Acceber passed by a group of people who sell lots from the countryside. 'If I can build a beautiful and well-guarded house near the area where the largest and most powerful base would be built, won't I live a better life than everyone? I should reconsider things early since building a house could take a month or two.'
She walked to the group and asked for details about buying lots in the countryside. One of the dealers had information about the area that she wanted. The price was relatively low, just 3,500 per square meter, with a total area of fifteen hectares.
"Miss, the area is relatively cheaper, but there's no development close to that part of the Imperial Capital's mountainous areas, which is dangerous. Wild animals that threaten life could be present in that area, too. It's not worth buying!"
"It's okay, I just want this area. Can the price be negotiated if I want to acquire this piece now? I believe, if I pay in full amount, there would be discounts."
"Miss, I must persuade you. There are better areas to buy in which the city's development is closer. Even if the Imperial Capital's name looked very tempting, you should not waste your money in a place far from the city's economic center."
"Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it, but I don't want to change my mind. I have other purposes for choosing this piece of land. Can you assist me to go with the procedures?"
The salesperson could only sigh with distress when her persuasion failed. She accompanied Acceber and helped her gain a more significant discount. Acceber was so happy when the purchase was successful that she hurriedly asked a renowned architect to sketch her desired house and hired a building company to take the project.
'Money can honestly give people the happiness they want sometimes. The project would cost a lot since the area is far from the city's center, but it'll be worth it in the last days. I just need to stick with the plan and tread carefully.'
- Four months later -
Acceber's investigation into her missing body came to fruition. Her actual body vanished after the hike to the mountains. The accident also caused her older brother to be burdened by her absence, and he missed the chance to meet his little white flower, which made Acceber happier.
'I have collected other supplies from Cities X, E, D, C, and B. My affairs were almost done here in City M. I should also sell Nicoletta's properties in this place and move back to City A. If I move back, I won't need this body to pretend to be Acceber because with Nicoletta's face identical to mine, my parents won't need to doubt if I ever appear after going missing for a few months.'
Late at night, Acceber went to the black market in City M, which housed the largest weapon shop in the country. She wore a mask to hide her face, and a cloak was provided at the entrance of the black market to keep everyone's identities hidden.
"Miss, the items you needed are ready for pickup!"
"Boss, can you help me deliver it to this warehouse tonight?" Acceber handed an address to the owner of the shop.
"No problem, miss."
Acceber bid goodbye to the boss and went out, but a strong scent of mint and vanilla filled the air along the way. Her heart started to throb inside her chest, making her think that she was experiencing a sudden heart attack. 'This is odd.'
She lowered the hood of her cloak, completely covering her face as she tried to calm herself. It took her a moment before noticing that someone was following her. The streets were so crowded, making it hard for her to move forward, but she tried her best to shake off the person tailing her.
'I'm almost nearing the parking lot! Just a little more!'
She thought she'd be safe, but a cold hand pulled her harshly into an empty alley. The man's tight grip on her waist made her shiver in surprise. She tried to free herself from him but could hardly move her hands.
"Who are you? What do you want from me?"
Before she could question further, hot lips fell on hers. The hood covering her head blocked her eyes from seeing the face of the shameless bastard who decided to invade her peace. She felt angry, wanting to kick his manhood, but her body was bound to him strictly. So she could only bite the other person's lips till it bled.
