Shocked beyond words

Jane was nervous. A knock was heard on the door and her mind screamed that it was her mom. She wasn't scared or anything by her, but it was this innate feeling of getting caught that made her this nervous. 

"What the hell are you doing, my g?" A sudden smack on her back by Rose surely brought Jane back to her senses.

"Oh, it's just that I feel like it's my mom on the other side of the door." She spoke quite ominously at that point.

"And? What about that? We have covered almost all our bases here. If you're getting caught now, that would mean that you're purely unlucky." Rose shrugged as she spoke.

"Yea, I mean, I'm pretty unlucky to begin with. If that wasn't the case, how would I have been trapped in doing this job to begin with?" Jane asked.
