Chapter 3

"What do you mean?" Jack asked and his father pressed some buttons which moved the table and got it perpendicular.

His dad walked in front of him and said "I don't know if Juniper had introduced me properly till now, so let me introduce myself.

I am Lance, your father and the former Pokemon champion. This here is Ariana, she is my sister and your aunt."

Jack didn't say anything and just kept glaring at Lance, who completely ignored Jack and went on to explain his evil schemes"You see, when me and my sister were young, we once visited a research laboratory of a professor who lived nearby.

He had an area where he had many wild Pokemon he had yet to tame. Me and your aunt accidentally fell into that area and it took our parents 5 days to find us.

Can you imagine our condition? Two kids with some basic Pokemon who fainted early on, in an area surrounded by wild animals who were caged against their will and would attack anyone they found. It was hell on earth."

Jack also agreed and said in his head "It does sound like they experienced a slightly more dangerous version of Jurassic park."

Lance continued "So, we both lost our trust in Pokemon and started to depend on ourselves. We wanted to improve humans so that they don't have to depend on Pokemon for their safety. Its always better to be able to do it yourself than depend on others when your life depends on it.

That's when your aunt came up with this idea of giving humans the powers of a Pokemon. She spent years in her lab trying to genetically alter dna and many other methods, only to fail.

Untill, we managed to get our hands on these two bad boys" Lance said with a smile as he pointed behind Jack.

Jack obviously couldn't see, so Lance turned the table and he was shocked when he saw them.

One Pokemon was floating in the air, with spoons floating around it. It was Alakazam. Another Pokemon was what scared Jack. It was also floating, but inside a container filled with pink liquid.

It had wires connected around its head and the Pokemon looked unconscious. Jack recognised the Pokemon, as it was the legendary Mewtwo.

Lance walked to the two of them and said "You might already know about Alakazam from your mother, but this special friend here was the one who made it all possible. He is called Mewtwo.

He is a genetically developed Pokemon who was made out of the dna of Mew, a legendary Pokemon. His psychic abilities are of the charts.

We channel his psychic powers to Alakazam, who helps us fuse the souls of a human and a Pokemon.

Now, you might be wondering 'What does all this have to do with me?' well, to bind two souls, they both have to be very close to each other.

In this world where Pokemon are treated as monsters, pets and tools used in battle, there are only a handful of people who treat their Pokemons with the love they give to their family.

Getting hold of them was going to be a difficult task, that's when I found out about you guys. I didn't come to the hospital during your birth as I already knew you were dead in her womb.

But would you look at that, miracles do happen. You rose from the dead and also helped me fulfill my dream. Since I haven't given you anything since you were born, I decided to make you both the first hybrid human."

By this time, Courtney also woke up and heard her father in law's evil schemes. She shouted "Let Jack go and do whatever you want with me."

"Oohhh.... teenage love.. how sweet. But you see little girl, he is closer to his Zoroark than you and Serperior. So, I can't fullfill your request, even if it is from my niece's lover." Ariana said as she patted her head.

"Then let her go while you keep me here." Jack asked and they denied saying "She already knows about our plan. We can't let her go. And also, if your finds her alone, she will know that you are in danger. Currently she thinks you both are on a world trip, enjoying life."

"Rest well tonight Jack, the coming days are going to be hectic for both of us." Lance said and left the room.

Jack turned to Courtney and said "If only you didn't meet me, you wouldn't have to go through all this with me."

"Are you mad? I would have died in the streets long ago if you hadn't hired me that day. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. If it's with you, I am willing to walk through fire. Don't think much about this, we will find a way out." Courtney encouraged Jack and they both slept on those tables.

The next day, the torture begin. Lance said in a mic that was connected to the room Jack and Courtney were being experimented "Jack and Courtney, we are going to start the process. Now, this is going to take long and it all depends on the bond between you and your Pokemon.

The minimum estimated time is one year. During this time, your whole body will change as your souls fuse with your Pokemons. You have to bear with it with your will as both your souls and bodies will reject the process. Remember, your survival depends purely on yourselves." and he asked Ariana to start the process.

She pressed some buttons and many lights started blinking on the control room. The container with Mewtwo lit up and there were bubbles coming out of Mewtwo's mouth.

There were wires also connected to Alakazam's head. He slowly held a spoon in each of his hand and moved his hands in some weird pattern.

A black orb appeared out of Zoroark while a green orb appeared out of Serperior. They both were crying out in pain when this happened.

As the orb fully emerged out of them, their bodies were completely lifeless. Alakazam slowly moved these orbs and placed them above Jack's and Courtney's hearts.

Alakazam moved his hands down and the orbs entered their bodies. "ARGH...." both screamed out in pain as this was happening.

It felt like something was forced inside them and their body was constantly trying to push out the foreign object. The fight between these two forces caused immense pain to their bodies and both immediately lost consciousness due to the pain.

"The process is complete. Now we wait and see if they survive and wake up, or die in their sleep." Ariana said and they both walked towards the door.

There was a woman with dark skin and gray hair standing near the door. Ariana stopped before her and asked "Aren't you the new intern, Burnet?"

She nodded her head nervously. Ariana said "You will be taking care of them from now and the minute you notice any changes, you report to us."

Burnet nodded her head and they left her in the room. Burnet immediately sighed and relaxed when they left the room.

"She still is scary" she said to herself and went near the window from where she could see Jack and Courtney.

"I know that what I am doing is completely wrong, but I can't help them. Sorry Jack and Courtney, we are almost in a similar situation." she said as she touched the glass.

Burnet was a student of the International Pokemon Academy where they teach people about Pokemon. Almost all the students who graduate from the academy are professors who have helped develop countless inventions.

As she was almost done studying, Lance approached her and asked her to work for her as she was the brightest student in her class.

She obviously refused when she heard what Lance wanted to do, but she didn't have any options. Lance had threatened to kill her only father if she refused. He went to such lengths as she already knew about his plans.

Days passed, with both Jack and Courtney still unconscious, but they would occasionally have pained expressions on their faces.

Burnet, who was their caretaker, would carefully rub their palms and say to them "It's ok, don't resist it, don't fight it. Just embrace it. It is the Pokemon you know."

It managed to calm them down after a while and this went on for 11 months.

Finally, both Jack and Courtney gained consciousness, with Courtney waking up a week before Jack.

Both were under surveillance, so both didn't open their eyes and were waiting for the right moment when they can escape.

Burnet entered the room that day and sat between both Jack and Courtney.

She caught both their hands and said "You guys can open your eyes now, I have turned off the cameras."

Both Jack and Courtney opened their eyes and looked at the owner of the voice which they heard many times.

Jack asked "Thanks for the support" and Courtney added "Yes, your voice helped us calm down and reminded us that we still need to live, when we almost gave up on our lives."

Burnet smiled and said "You could say, it was a way to console myself as I couldn't bear the guilt. Also, I have been beside you guys for a while year. I saw how you both kept murmuring each other's names even when unconscious. I couldn't see you both become mindless beasts while I was also involved in the process."

She then removed the restraints binding then to the table. They were upgraded from belts to metal chains as they knew that their power would explode of the experiment was successful.

Both Jack and Courtney got down from the table and stretched their bodies. They were standing after almost a whole year.

"How do you feel?" Burnet asked and Jack replied "Different, and a lot stronger."

He wanted to open his system and look at his stats, when he was interrupted by sounds coming from outside.

Lance entered the room, clapping. He said "Wonderful professor Burnet. You have fulfilled your role perfectly. You helped them in their difficult times. Now, you have served your purpose." and brought out a dragonite to attack her.

Dragonite started charging for the hyper beam, when suddenly countless sharp leaves flew towards dragonite, which managed to stop it from charging the hyper beam.

Lance looked at the direction from where it came from, to find Courtney, who had her hair turn green.

She had leaves on her torso and a tail similar to Serperior. Lance looked at her with a weird smile and shouted "Marvelous.... this is exactly what I wanted."

Dragonite rose above ground and was about to prepare for another move when a huge Balck ball hit it and he fell down.

It was a shadow ball from Jack, who had red around his eyes and long red hair, which were floating behind him.

Both Jack and Courtney looked like the fusion of themselves with their Pokemon.

Seeing that the situation just escalated, Lance, Ariana and many other trainers working for them all brought out their Pokemon for battle.

Burnet, who didn't have any Pokemon with her, said "Jack, Courtney, if you have any ideas, mind sharing it with me."

Jack smiled and said "Don't worry, we have a very powerful backer.

He turned around and aimed at the container that was behind Jack with 'Shadow Claw'.

Lance could tell what Jack had in his head and tried to stop it, but was too late.

The container burst open and the liquid flowed out. Jack's Shadow Claw managed to even cut the wires attached to Mewtwo's head.

Jack said to Burnet "Prepare for an explosion" and Mewtwo floated out of the container.

He telepathically said to Jack "Why did it take so long to free me?" and Jack replied "Well, I just got up yesterday."

Mewtwo decided not to waste time and used a 'Psystrike', Mewtwo's signature move, aiming it towards Lance. Jack didn't have any problem with it, as he had to suffer for 11 months due to Lance.

Since Ariana was close to Lance, she was also caught up in the move along with the other trainers who worked for Lance.

The whole laboratory exploded, with Mewtwo making sure everyone was dead and every part of the laboratory was destroyed.

Since both Jack and Courtney had enhanced strength, they managed to escape the explosion, with Jack saving Burnet.
