Chapter 1 : Rise Up To The Call

A wicked cacophony of birds... and something more echoed through the forests, as young men and women, no more than 15, woke up one by one, some earlier than others, well others still rested in their slumber, unbeknownst to what awaited them as they wake up.

Eli's eyes slowly opened as a thick cough filled his throat, the by-product of the dust compiled in his lungs.

Giving a rough and hoarse cough, the fresh, untainted, pure air of the forest relieved Eli's throat as he slowly started to regain his senses from the previous state of confusion one would have from waking up from a long sleep.

Eli slowly started to get off the ground before looking in front of him, where a body was lying opposite him.

Keenly looking towards it, Eli started to slowly walk up to the intruding threat as his body cracked and roared with the sudden pain

the movements caused an ache to fill the body of Eli but compared to the things he had endured the past few years, this was nothing more than child games and a funny joke at that.

Going to the body and checking the boy's vitals the same age as him, Eli checked the vitals of the unknown variable before confirming that he wasn't dead, just merely unconscious.

Searching the body, Eli discovered that nothing of value except the shirt and trousers was on the body.

A sudden vibration alarmed Eli as he started to seek the source of the sound, which he pinpointed to his left wrist, where a smartwatch was present.

Under the smartwatch's screen was a significant red symbol, which was why he was there.

"R"

...

Eli looked down at the watch before tapping the clock.

A 3D hologram of a person was projected on the watch's small tap screen as the man spoke out.

He was bald, with a large eye scar covering his right eye.

His uniform conveyed one of status, with the poisonous tone of the man single-handedly being able to convey a sense of fear even though they were an unfathomable distance from each over.

"Welcome to your first and last mission, depending on who you are and how experienced you are." The man spoke a constant flow of words, not even stuttering. "You may have woken up in a foreign place and wondered where you are, but that is irrelevant in your current situation. If you want to survive, get your head out of the fucking gutter and listen closely."

Eli looked at the screen with boredom before a brief smirk filled his face. It quickly faded to his monotone face.

"Congratulations! you have been selected for a special test, something never done with previous recruitment. You have been selected for the poison jar. In 30 days, a helicopter with enough space to fit ten people will come to the island's center, which I will explain in a moment. For now, there are 200 of your waste of space on the island, and yet only ten can get the chance to leave. If you are dumb enough not to understand the implication, I recommend you take the easy way out and kill yourself." The man sneered. "But worry not, as those quick enough to adapt will be treated with a higher standard of respect than a normal grunt..... did I fail to mention that there are pokemon on the island?"

Eli's eyes drifted away from the watch before he grabbed a rock and looked toward the kid on the floor, bringing the rock down in one strike.

Blood filled the air as Eli bludgeoned the boy to death in a mere second, rendering his light sleep eternal.

In a way, this was his mercy towards the boy. If he was too weak to get up, it was his fate to perish.

Every day, there will be three care packages, one in the middle of the island, containing the most weapons and a pokemon, whereas there are two other packages that drop on erratic areas of the island every three days. They have less gear than the care package in the middle, but they can still be essential for survival.

Eli looked at the sky, where a red flare wailed down the sky, followed by a parachute and a large metal container, slowly falling into the atmosphere.

Eli looked towards it with a smile, his empty eyes echoing insanity that slowly seeped down to his smile, making it even more comprehensive.

The care package registered the middle of the forest, and the sun was directly in front of him, showing that he was on the western side of the forest, close to the central part of the island.

Instead of doing what most youths do and running to the care package, Eli gave a simple glance at the care package on the horizon before walking the opposite way; his eyes focused on the care package that was slowly falling a couple of miles away from him, noticeably smaller than that in the middle.

Although his skinny and malnourished body was tired, Eli started to make his way over to the care package, which was around 4 miles away from his current location.

Eli was stopped on the way there by a figure that blocked his path, and his expression darkened.

Another victim. A bloody rock caught their attention of Eli; as he looked down at the bloody rock the man was holding, he slowly started to edge toward Eli.

"Come here, little piggy~" The man gave a horrid smile, but his expression quickly ceased when he saw who he opposed that rock against.

... Eli's eyes were bathed in a deep red as his crimson eyes sparkled like a banquet of blood and his black hair filled the man with a sense of dread.

Strands of red energy slowly started to seep from their fingers of Eli, condensing into eldritch strings that slowly began to go toward the boy with the rock.

"You're.... you're an energy user!" The boy's expression was grave as he slowly started to back off the crimson marine string, only to fall over a branch stump, catapulting his body back. "Please..... PLEASE...!" the man gulped, but Eli only looked towards the man with a twisted smile as the strands pulled closer.

ARGH!

A scream filled the forest.
