Three days later.
The city looked way busier than usual, people were running around, grouping and talking about something, etc. It wasn't without reason, today wasn't an ordinary day.
"Guys, today is the day the two sects are recruiting!"
"Yeah, I am going there to watch. Wanna go as well?"
"Sure!"
Talks like these were heard all over the city, after all, this only happened once per year. This was a big event, for some, it could be a turning point in their lives. People would go there each year, some returning in shame and some achieving glory.
This world does not have that much means of entertainment as modern Earth, so the majority of people have nothing to do after work. Because of this, there was always a crowd of people who wanted to see real cultivators nearby, besides those who wanted to participate in the test.
Because of this, it was pretty easy finding where it was happening. All you needed to do is follow the crowd. In the crowd of people, a young, red-haired girl was seen walking together with them.
=====================================================
Near the city gate, you could see a group of people wearing ancient Chinese robes. Nearly all of them were looking at the citizens surrounding them with unconcealed disdain, lifting their heads high.
Even though they were obviously being despised, no one in the crowd of ordinary people dared to say anything against it.
There was a line of young people leading to the cultivators, all of them had hopeful faces. When someone turn came, they handed over ten Spirit Stones to the one in charge of receiving it, getting a jade token in return.
The jade token allowed someone to take part in the entrance test of the sect, and everyone who received one happily got into a group of people who also received it.
The groups were in majority composed of rich people, sons and daughters of rich merchants and officials in the city. There was also a group of poor youngsters, who relied on the wealth of their ancestors to pay for the jade token.
The people of influential background didn't seem to get along very well with those with ordinary families, a son of an official was glaring at the poor group with obvious disdain.
Time passed without any incidents happening, besides some verbal fights between the poor and rich groups.
Blake was in the line of young people, her turn was approaching. She didn't mind paying ten Spirit Stones since the space ring had a lot of good things.
You needed Qi to open a space ring, so she wasn't able to do it earlier, but after all these days of cultivation, she finally got to see what was in it.
Inside were 200 Spirit Stones, ten unknown pills, twenty talismans, and some fighting techniques as well. Her whole wealth was barely enough to buy one-tenth of a single Spirit Stone.
If the contents of this ring were spread, Blake was sure she would be a target of a kidnapping attempt. This was wealth enough to make people go crazy!
This only strengthened her resolve to come here, she didn't want the guy who gave her so much get in trouble because of it.
Her turn finally came, and just when she was going to pay the ten Spirit Stones....
"Wait, she doesn't need to take the entrance exam." Someone suddenly said and walked over, Blake recognized him, it was Fang Qing!
"Why? Taking in disciples like that needs the approval of an Elder." Said the one in charge of giving the jade tokens.
The people around them also noticed what was happening and were curiously staring at them.
Fang Qing silently showed him a jade token, this one was different from the ones before. There was also a faint Qi coming from it.
The one in charge, probably a disciple, cupped his fists and bowed.
"So it's an order from Elder Su, this disciple will gladly obey."
He gave a jade token to Blake without asking for Spirit Stones and called for the next person on the line.
Blake walked in front of Fang Qing.
"You gave me a surprise appearing like that. Are you sure there's no trouble in me entering like this?" Asked Blake.
"Elder Su is my master, so getting this amount of help from him is nothing big. To be honest, there will be trouble if you do not join instead." He was vague about the "trouble", probably because there were still a lot of people around.
Blake also noticed this and decided to not talk about him giving the cultivation technique, she just stood beside him waiting for what was going to happen next.
Everybody also noticed the way Blake was allowed in just like that, and began to talk about it.
"Who is that woman? Does she have backing in the sect?"
"She must be related to some Elder there."
"I bet she seduced that guy, and he convinced an Elder to let her in!"
There were different opinions, some thought Blake was a relative of an Elder or someone important in the sect, others thought she seduced her way in.
The line of those who wanted to pay for a jade token finally came to an end, and the disciple in charge after seeing this shouted:
"Those who have a jade token follow me to the sect entrance test location, the rest can go back home." Him and some other disciples who also came with him headed to somewhere.
The crowd or people dispersed, and those who had a jade token followed him. Blake who was walking together with Fang Qing didn't need to take the entrance test but she was curious about it.
Hi guys, my computer broke, sorry for disappearing for a week. I wrote this chapter from my phone.
