In the forest near Scarlet Flame Sect.
A red-haired girl was walking inside the forest together with a red-eyed blue dog and a floating sword with a gem as an eye. The girl looked around from time to time like she was looking for something. The dog was constantly alert as he looked everywhere, and the sword was calm and composed.
Blake was here mainly to get Purple-Root herbs, but she also had other objectives. She trained for a whole week and barely battled at all, so she wanted to have a try again. She was itchy to test her new technique.
"These Purple-Root herbs grow in different places after all..." Blake sighed. Different herbs grow in different conditions, Yellow-Leaf herbs grow in places with accessible but not too much sunlight and near trees. She had no idea where the hell Purple-Root herbs grow.
She actually didn't get tired of searching for Yellow-Leaf herbs, it wasn't that hard to find them with three people(?) searching for it and she already knows where it grows. Why would she ask for another mission then? The reason was simple.
[Herb Collection]
'Collect five Yellow-Leaf herbs.'
Reward: 100¥
10/10(i)
The mission had a limit on how many times it could be completed. She was surprised by this when she found out it after completing the mission the first time and selected the "(i)" icon to get information about it.
Turns out, some missions can only be completed a certain number of times. Some refreshed every so often, like the Yellow-Leaf herbs mission, that refreshed every two weeks, and some didn't refresh at all. If it wasn't for that, Blake would easily get 100 Pokedollars every day.
The system, if it could even be called one at all, didn't like leaving any exploits for Blake to get powerful quickly. She can not get points by going around killing everything as system novel protagonists do, only being able to get some money on missions. And when she finally finds a stable source of Pokedollars, it's also limited.
Blake shook her head. Complaining was of no use, it was better to focus on the stuff she needs to do right now. Suddenly, Riolu stopped walking.
"Riolu!" Riolu stared at Blake.
"What happened...? Enemies ahead... And they are not that far, right?" Riolu nodded.
Riolu can now communicate with Blake to a certain extent using Aura. He is not advanced to the point of directly talking with her, but he still can send what he is thinking to Blake, and since she is an Aura user, it makes things even easier. It isn't too detailed, but Blake can more or less get the gist of things.
The three approached the location where Riolu was feeling the enemies in a hushed pace and hid in the bushes near it. Blake recognized what these enemies were as soon a she looked at them. It was two wolves, of the same kind of the one she fought to the death one week and some days ago!
Blake gazed at their backs full of black colored fur, they were busy eating the corpse of an animal that could no longer be recognized. Blake was concealing her Aura, which was basically the same as concealing her presence. Riolu was doing the same and he was better at it than her, and did Honedge even have a presence at all?
As she looked at them, memories of that day came to her. She told Riolu and Honedge to stay here, and slowly unsheathed her sword and walked towards them...
Wolves had sharp ears, and Blake could not conceal the sound of her footsteps, so they obviously discovered her. Blake was well aware they would detect her, so she was running from the start. Before they could even turn their heads around, Blake immediately swung her sword down at one of them.
*aAAaUuuHH*
With a distorted cry of pain, the wolf was cut in half! Blood and pieces of its brain flew at Blake and the other wolf. Its internal organs began to fall to the ground. Blake was somewhat shocked by this amount of power. Her sword was still in the wolf's body.
The other wolf, full of panic, jumped straight at Blake to bite her neck. Blake immediately spun her sword, slashing half of the dead wolf which fell to the ground. She blocked the wolf bite, it bit her sword that was still full of warm blood from the dead wolf.
She swung her sword with full power, throwing the wolf that was biting on it to the ground. It let out a cry of pain as its back hit the ground. Blake gave no time for it to stand up and thrusted her sword at full power in its head.
It got its brain pierced by her sword, and she felt it trembling from the sheath. It completely stopped moving after a while. Blake removed the sword from its head as the blood slowly dripped down from it, swung at the air to remove the blood, and sheathed the sword. She gazed at the scene of carnage and sighed.
"This is barely a fight at all..."
While Blake didn't expect it to be too hard, this was way easier than she expected. She didn't use a single technique, and barely even used Qi to strength her body at all. She wasn't even tired, these wolves didn't stand a chance.
"By the looks of it, the difference between stages isn't that small." She knew she would win since she was already at the third stage and nearing the fourth, and mainly fought them to solve the slight traumas on her mind. Even then, she at least expected some challenge since there were two of them.
"Huuhh, Riolu, Honedge, Let's go back to search-" She suddenly felt something and turned around. At the same time, she heard the sound of the bushes moving, and a large ape got out from the bush behind them. It was the same kind of ape Riolu fought often back in Black Bear Forest. Riolu and Honedge immediately ran to her side and stood in front of her.
"One of those again, huh? Riolu, Force-" Blake was about to tell Riolu to blast the monkey head open with a Force Palm, when Honedge suddenly stood in front of them, facing it. Blake was confused at the sight for a second, before figuring out what was happening.
"You want to fight too right? Riolu, don't get involved in this." Blake was smiling a little. Honedge wanted to fight without Riolu's help. He has been fighting with Riolu since day one, and while this helped him get EXP easily, he seemed to want to have a fight by himself.
Blake stared at the ape who was warily watching them and stared at Honedge's back, her smile becoming bigger as she did so.
"Let's go Honedge!"
"Honedge!"
I know I said I would show Honedge's power this chapter, but I felt like I needed to show how powerful Blake is right now. Sorry :v
Also, sorry for disappearing for two weeks again, and a huge thanks to the people who kept giving me even then. I love you guys.
