Chapter 1: Birth

~In a medical clinic in Vaniville Town, Kalos Region~

"Push Honey! You're almost done!" A good looking man with wavy black hair could be seen grasping his pregnant wife's hand in support.

"I'm pushing!" The wife cried out as she gave one final pained push. With a strangled cry, the pressure finally gave way as a red faced, healthy baby boy fell into the waiting nurse's arms.

After the nurse cleaned him and made sure he was healthy before handing him back to the exhausted couple. Lillian Krane looked down at her newborn son drawing him close to feed him, and couldn't help but feel so overwhelmed with love and devotion. She cooed to him as he fed, "My baby boy, my little Edward." After he'd had his fill, she passed him to her husband so she could rest.

David Krane held his newborn son in his arms gingerly, and couldn't help but be awed by the fact that he was a father now. He muttered as if it was a mantra, "I'm a father now. I'm a dad..."

As the couple were lost in the joy of finally being parents, Edward himself couldn't help but find the situation more than a little awkward as despite not being able to see much since he was now a newborn he knew what was going on. Without much further ado, Edward felt a heavy exhaustion wash over him as he was pull into the comforting lull of sleep.

~Somewhere in the Orre Region~

Another newborn's cry broke through the night, as a young boy, with long red locks of hair held back by a pair of goggles, could be seen pacing outside his mom's Labor room door. Michael was stunned as he heard his baby sister for the first time.

Professor Krane patted the boy's shoulder, "Well Michael you're an older brother now, how does it feel?"

"I don't know Professor. I don't think I'm ready I just turned seven last month." Michael shook his head as he couldn't put into words how he felt as his emotions ran wild.

"Haha Lad, You'll be a great big brother I know it! Take it from me as I also have a younger sibling Michael you'll do fine." Professor Krane chuckled as he reassured the nervous boy.

"Really Professor? You have a younger sibling?" Michael couldn't help but question as he'd never heard this before.

"Yes my younger brother left Orre to go study in the nearby Kalos Region to become a better Pokemon researcher as it has plenty of pokemon unique to the region. As a matter of fact, I do believe after this I'll give him a call as it's been almost a year since I last spoke to him or his wife." Professor Krane said, and just afterwards both of them were given permission to visit.

~Vaniville Town, Kalos Region~

Four years came and went, Edward was now four years old and could be seen running around the yard, laughing happily, as a young Litleo chased him. "Haa... Haa... hehe Sol your getting faster by the day!" Edward laughed as he collapsed into the grass to rest.

"Litleo!" Sol called out in a proud tone as he rubbed up against the boy.

Edward had been surprised when he learned that he had been reborn in the Kalos Region. His parent's had taken good care of him over the years and were ecstatic at how he learned to speak by a year and a half. They claimed he was a genius, and even let him have Sol a pokemon that his parent's had caught for him. Although technically, Sol wasn't his Pokemon till he graduated trainer school at Thirteen. That's right thirteen years old, as apparently unlike the unrealistic notion of ten year olds running around with pokemon, this world didn't acknowledge that a youth was a trainer until thirteen. Which with them starting trainer school at age five would leave teens with a little bit more maturity to handle themselves with. Edward also made friend's with a couple of the other kids around vaniville town even someone from the anime...

"Edward! Hey no fair I want to play with Sol too!" A young girl with curly, shoulder-length auburn hair came running over. Her face was shaded by a wide brimmed hat with a pink ribbon around it, and she wore a pink sundress to match.

Breaking away from his thoughts, Edward apologized, "Sorry Serena you weren't at the park so me and Sol just played tag here at home."

"Meanie.. you could have waited.." Serena pouted cutely as she turned her head.

Grinning cheekily, Edward couldn't help but reach forward and poke her cheek.

"Moh! You just like to tease me!" Serena gave him a glare.

"Sorry you're just too cute Serena. I can't help it!" Edward just shrugged as he turned around to rub Sol's belly. The lion cub pokemon let out a deep purr of approval at the sudden attention. He didn't notice as Serena's face went red as he turned to Sol.

"Well I guess I'll forgive you!" Serena then also joined him in petting Sol who was in heaven at getting all this attention.

Edward's life in vaniville town was going great as he enjoyed spending time with his parents and playing with Serena. It wasn't long till his fifth birthday came around and they had a big party with the neighbor hood kids and his parents. One day Edward was sitting in the living room with Serena watching TV as it was raining outside. The cartoon they were watching featured some pokemon and people who looked like Power Rangers fighting villains. Until all of a sudden, a live broadcast cut in showing a cruise ship named the S.S. Libra sailing on a stormy ocean, but above it were helicopters surrounding the cruise ship. With a loud cry a black, gigantic dragon-like pokemon flew over the ship using a move to pluck it from the water and flew off with it along with the fleet of helicopters.

"No way..." Edward said in shock, as he'd just witnessed Shadow Lugia, AKA XD001 stealing the S.S. Libra. He couldn't believe that this world actually had Shadow Pokemon, and if so that meant he'd have to be extra careful from now on. Edward pondered, 'If that was Shadow Lugia then maybe what that god wanted me to do might have something to do with Cipher.'
