CHAPTER 58 – AN UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER

In the previous chapter we see how our heroes manage to solve the problem of the gym leader of Rock Town, making both became the first leaders to do double combats of all Kanto, grateful for it, Carlos and Manuel deliver what will be the new of their gym to each of those present including Latias and Pikachu, after this, nurse Joy also gives them a beautiful egg that Verity manages to stay and, after saying goodbye, they go to Lavender Town in the hope of not finding any mishap along the way.

We had continued our journey without any incident and that's a lot of talk because we even had a nice night, with nothing to hinder us, without Team Rocket or anything like that.

In fact, we were now only half an hour away from our destination, so there was literally only an hour left for a well-deserved break.

The only thing is that walking we saw what appeared to be a huge mine, why do I know? Well, easy, there were numerous workers and not only humans, but also Fight type Pokémon like Conkeldurr, Gurdurr, Machoke, Machamp ... you know that kind of Pokémon with muscles.

Apparently they were extracting minerals from it, but don't ask me which one of them because I have no idea.

The funny thing was that, when we were surrounding the mine, we heard a familiar voice.

"Look miss, I understand you're a Pokémon trainer, but we still don't understand how dangerous that Pokémon can be, I can't allow anyone to pass for the time being" - said a man in a worker's uniform.

"You said it, I'm a trainer and that Pokémon would be a good addition to my Pokémon team" - the other person replied.

Looking closely, this person was Wendy.

"Wendy!" – Nancy shouted suddenly.

Hearing the voice, Wendy turned and her face lit up with joy and ran towards us without a second thought.

"Guys!" – Wendy said with joy.

"It's nice to see you again Wendy, how are you?" – I asked.

"Alright, I already have three badges, isn't that impressive?" – Wendy said with joy.

To be honest it is, especially considering that it was the one that later began.

"But didn't you just get your second badge two weeks ago, how did this happen?" - asked Verity confused.

How does that know? Easy, if you think we did not keep in touch until now, you're very wrong, we have been in contact with her, Leaf and even Roxy, only that i saw it unnecessary to tell it every time i spoke with one of the girls, in fact, Leaf was more ahead than us and already had her sixth badge, apparently she already beat Sabrina, as for Roxy, she also got 2 more badges, getting closer and closer to the goal of 8 gym badges, as for Wendy, the last time we contacted her was two weeks ago, before the incident with Latias and Latios.

"Well, a lot happened in these two weeks, why didn't you contact me in all this time?" – asked Wendy.

"Well... A lot of things happened, come with us and we'll say you everything" - I replied.

She nodded and we headed to a secluded place so that no one would hear anything.

"Well, what is so important so that you didn't contact me in two weeks?" - asked Wendy.

"I'm sure you'll understand when I explained you, i'll start..." – and so I began to explain the whole story that happened with Latios and Latias.

"So you saved the City from an impending catastrophe and you catch a Latias and Verity catch a Latios and tell me that Latias is that girl over there?" – Wendy asked after the explanation.

He didn't seem to believe everything, so I could only make one demonstration to make him believe it.

"Latias, if you please" - I said, looking at Latias.

Latias in the form of Bianca, transformed back into Pokémon, which surprised Wendy.

"So beautiful... You never stop surprising me Ash, It's amazing that all those things happen to you," Wendy sighed.

"Lat" – Latias also nodded.

Hey, It's not my fault that it attracted so much trouble, the original Ash faced that too.

"Right? We think the same as you" - Koharu nodded.

"Ahem, anyway, what's bringing you over here?" – I asked.

"Right! You will see I was in Vermillion City, specifically in the Pokémon Center and by chance I heard that there had been sightings of Snorlax in this area and since it would be a good addition for my team, I came here quickly" – explained Wendy.

"And, were you lucky finding any?" - asked Verity.

"Well, yes but no" - Wendy replied.

"What do you mean?" – I asked.

"Well, apparently, there is a Snorlax blocking the entrance of one of the mines, apparently many workers have tried to move it, but there is no way, when I found out, I wanted to enter but they don't let me enter" - she explained.

"I see..." – I said.

"Wait a minute, with us we are many, I am sure that if we enter all together they will let us in!" – Nancy said suddenly.

"Good idea, with so many of us, you won't be able to refuse!" – Wendy nodded.

We all nodded at this idea, it wasn't really bad, everyone except Koharu, we were Pokémon trainers and Koharu wasn't bad at fighting either, so we can easily deal with a Snorlax.

"Excuse me, could you let us in? We can help them with your problem" - I said, approaching the same worker as before.

"Are you coming with that lady over there?" - he asked.

"Yes" - I said.

"Well, if your are all trainers, then perfect, only one is difficult but with 5 trainers, it will be easy to move Snorlax" – nodded the worker.

"Haven't they tried to capture him with a Pokéball?" - asked Koharu.

"The truth is that we do not have Pokéball on us, after all we are working, and we do not want to anger him or hurt him, that is why it is being very difficult to do something with him" - he explained.

I see, it makes sense, I guess not everyone has Pokéball on them.

The worker guided us to where the Snorlax was and was indeed fast asleep in one of the entrances of the cave, blocking the way to any person or Pokémon.

"Did you see that? We have tried to lure it with food as it is done on this type of occasion, but it seems that it has already been filled and there is no way to move him" - said the worker pointing to Snorlax.

"I see, what should we do then?" – I asked.

"I was also going to ask you the same thing, since you are trainers, why don't they try to catch him?" – suggested the worker.

But before she said anything, Wendy took out a Pokéball.

"Well, I'll do it, take this!" - said Wendy throwing her Pokéball.

However, when the Pokéball hit, it bounced off her belly and back into Wendy's hands.

"I didn't expect that" - I said.

"It didn't work, what should we do now then?" - asked Wendy depressed.

"Mmm, Latias use Psychic and try to move it" - I said.

Latias was transformed before the surprised look of the worker and tried to move the Snorlax, however, she could not do so.

"Apparently you can't move it without damaging it, it's too heavy" – I denied.

"Lat" – said Latias somewhat sadly.

"Don't worry, plus we don't want to damage him, just make him get out of there" - I said, gently stroking his head.

"Lat" - Latias said cheerfully.

Then he went back to his Bianca form and we continued to think of some way to push him away.

"Wait, I heard that in Lavender Town you can buy a Poké Flute and this can wake up any sleeping Pokémon as long as it is out of combat" – Wendy said suddenly.

"I'm afraid we don't have time, we need to get those minerals out of here today" - the worker denied.

We kept thinking, but we couldn't come up with any solution that didn't involve harming the Snorlax, we also tried to wake it up with loud noises without success, my god, is Snorlax not going to wake up no matter what?

"Well, that's it, I'm ran out of ideas" - Verity said.

"Me too" - Nancy nodded.

"Any other ideas Ash?" - asked Wendy.

Not really, but I couldn't tell him because at that moment, someone spoke.

"Wow, wow, look at who we have here!" – said the voice.

Oh no, I already saw this part.

"Who are you?" asked the worker looking up.

"What who are we? Okay, we'll tell you" – said another voice.

Jessie: Prepare for trouble...

James: ... and make it double!

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!

James: To unite all peoples within our nation!

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie: Jessie!

James: James!

Jessie: Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light!

James: Surrender now or prepare to fight!

Meowth: Meowth! That's right.

It was Team Rocket again, I was already wondering what they were doing.

"Team Rocket!" - exclaimed Wendy in surprise.

"That's right girl, and if you'll excuse us, we'll take that big guy over there, go ahead Meowth!" - said Jessie.

"Understood, take this!" - said Meowth pulling out a small cannon.

The cannon released a huge net that caught the Snorlax squarely.

"Pull him!" - exclaimed James.

"Let's go!" - said Meowth.

Then the balloon began to fly and surprisingly the Snorlax was finally moving.

"We have to do something!" - said Nancy.

"Wait a momento" - I said.

"What are you saying? We can't let them take him away" - Wendy said.

"And we won't let them, just see" - I said.

The girls nodded and watched the show.

The Snorlax was being slowly moved by Team Rocket's balloon, it's amazing how sturdy it is, by the way.

When they were about to lift him into the air, the Snorlax woke up and watched angrily as unknown people had caught him, so he used his fist, which had lit up, to tear the net apart.

"Ah!" - shouted Team Rocket.

The punch had broken the net, destabilizing the balloon in the process.

"Okay, now, Pikachu use Thunderbolt and send them fly!"

Pikachu jumped off my shoulder and used a powerful Thunderbolt that sent Team Rocket flying.

"That's not fair, we didn't even have time to fight!" - shouted Jessie.

"Whatever..." - said Meowth.

Jessie, James and Meowth: Team Rocket has been defeated again!

And that's how they got lost in the distance, I know I didn't let them fight, but today I wasn't for nonsense and I didn't feel like an unnecessary fight, besides, if it hadn't been me, the Snorlax would have sent them to fly the same.

"Norlax!" said the Snorlax looking in our direction.

Apparently he seemed somewhat grateful to have helped him with those guys who wanted to kidnap him, although technically we didn't do anything.

But before she could say anything else, Wendy stepped forward with a determined look on her face.

"Snorlax, I want you for my team, I'm a Pokémon trainer and I think you're a super strong Pokémon, that's why I want you to come with me!" – Wendy said pulling out her Pokéball.

She seemed to be willing to take out her Pokémon to fight Snorlax, however, upon hearing that Wendy called him super strong, smiled and sat down.

"Norlax!" - said Snorlax.

It seemed that he was telling her that he did not mind being part of his team and, apparently Wendy understood because she kept her Pokéball and instead took out another.

"You won't regret it, we will be the strongest!" – said Wendy gently throwing her Pokéball.

And that's how Wendy captured a Snorlax, sometimes, short stories are also beautiful and sometimes you don't need a spectacular event or a battle to capture a Pokémon, sometimes being honest is enough.

Anyway, after this incident, we said goodbye to the worker and also to Wendy.

Apparently his next destination was again Celadon City, he wanted to get his 4th medal so fighting his sister was the only option, I would have liked to go with her and witness her battle, unfortunately, we had our own plans.

"Take good care of yourselves!" - said Wendy with a smile.

But before he said anything else, he came up to me and kissed me on the cheek.

"Wendy!" – said the girls.

"Hehe" - Wendy said.

And then he went for a run without looking back.

Only God knows when we will meet again, but of one thing I am totally sure, and that is that it will be soon.

After this brief but pleasant meeting, we continue our way to Lavender Town.
