7: Double Kick

The next day.

Jayden talked more to his parents about his plans for his journey.

they continuously reminded him to be careful while on the road, after all evil characters like team rocket and Pokemon stealers were a thing.

especially for him who had a Pokemon which wasn't native to this region, they would do a lot to get their hands on Scorbunny.

the little guy almost cried after hearing this, it was only after Jayden consoled it that it calmed down.

"as long as you are strong enough, not even legendary Pokemon can look down upon you"

these were the words he imprinted in Scorbunny's mind ever since yesterday.

---

"when should I catch my next pokemon?" Jayden thought, he had been deliberating this all night.

his dad had suggested for him to get a water type Pokemon next, at least one that had good potential.

he had even offered to buy Jayden a good baby water-type pokemon, but Jayden rejected the offer.

it would be better to catch his own pokemon instead of having someone else do it for him.

still...that brought him down to what Pokemon.

He currently had a couple of options.

Lapras, Magikarp, And Horsea.

all 3 of these water-type pokemon had their own advantages and disadvantages, but whichever one he chose would become an asset to his team.

----

Most people in this small town preferred the country side life, although they raised pokemon, it was rarely for the sake of battle.

Jayden basically had nearly no peers here who were aiming to become pokemon trainers.

otherwise he could definitely have some Pokemon battles with them.

Jayden and Scorbunny could only continue fighting wild Pokemon outside while also taking breaks to do their workouts.

---

Watching as a flock of pidgeys flew above him, Jayden returned his eyes back to Scorbunny.

"now use ember" he shouted.

Scorbunny hopped a few times before releasing a small ember towards a metapod.

The metapod tried to use 'harden" immediately but it was too late.

The fire ball whipped through the air before landing perfectly on the metapod, burning it until it became unconscious and unable to fight anymore.

this battle was enough to push Scorbunny's level to 12.

Scorbunny]

Type: Fire

Level: 12

Bond: 95%

Item: Mysterious Stone

Ability: Blaze

Moves: Growl, Tackle, Ember, Quick Attack, Double Kick.

"a new move?" Jayden said in surprise as he looked at Scorbunny's new stats after reaching level 12.

double kick, it was a fighting type move, but definitely effective and strong.

Jayden and Scorbunny continued to train in the forest, but these pokemon weren't giving Scorbunny enough exp.

the amount was almost negligible for each pokemon Scorbunny defeated.

---

After returning home later than usual, he noticed his parents were both watching TV in the living room, they were watching a Pokemon contest situated in the Kanto region.

"ah, Jayden your home, go shower then come eat" his mother said when she noticed him.

"ok, I'll be down in a little while" Jayden said while Scorbunny hopped towards his parents, it seemed to miss them very much.

after showering, Jayden came back downstairs and ate two full plates of food before he was satisfied.

"dad, is there a better place to train around here?" Jayden decided to ask, after all he couldn't go to random routes, as some of them were very dangerous even for professional trainers.

"the little bugs around the area aren't enough?" Jayden's dad laughed before stroking his beard lightly.

"nope, Scorbunny even feels sad and thinks it's bullying the Pokemon there" Jayden said calmly.

"well if you want more challenges..." his mother jumped into he conversation immediately after hearing their conversation.

"you should come to pewter city with me, there is a small pokemon training facility near my book club meeting area, I heard that alot of young trainers go there to train before getting their license" she said while eating popcorn.

hearing this, Jayden's eyes lit up, this is exactly what he needed, real trainer on trainer pokemon battles.

"haha, look at him, he is excited" his father jokingly said while hugging his wife.

"mother can I come with you starting tomorrow then?" he asked, he wouldn't give up this chance to improve his fighting ability.

"of course, plus the first gym battle is In pewter city, after getting your license you can even immediately take on the gym if your confident" his mother joked with a laugh.

After all Jayden's Scorbunny was a fire type, it wouldn't be too effective on the rock type gym, unless Jayden caught a second Pokemon which would be more effective for the gym.
