S5E24: Second Chance

"Foxx, I am really sorry for the way I've been acting and I wish I knew a better way of showing my love for Dawn to her then being over protective but you also have to understand things from my point of view." apologized Dawn's mother as she poked at her food not wanting to make eye contact with him just yet.

"That's the thing ma'am, I do understand. You want the best for her and there isn't anything wrong with that but you also have to remember that her dreams aren't necessarily always going to be the same dreams that you have for her." calmly and respectfully replied Foxx with a smile, "If you really need someone to talk to about this I'd have to suggest you speak with my father."

"Why did he have different dreams for your life than you?" questioned Dawn's mother with a sniff as she tried to avoid crying.

"No, it was his parents who had different plans for him that lead to him running away from home." replied Foxx as Dawn's mother slowly began to lift her head up and attempt to make eye contact. "Now, I'm glade he did because otherwise he most likely would never have met my mother and had me."

"How will that help me though?" asked Dawn's mother s she looked at Foxx and he could see how hard it was for her not to start crying.

"Well, it was because of this that he was able to convince my mother that it was best for them to leave me with Professor Oak then for them to raise me themselves." explained Foxx, "You see had they raised me I would just be another member of Team Rocket, and not training to be a Pokeball Professor and thus wouldn't have been able to help them the way I have thus far."

"I see, so the best thing for me to do is let Dawn do whatever she wants?" asked Dawn's mother with a raised eyebrow.

"Like I said my father would be able to give you a better idea but I'd say that you could be more open to her opinion." replied Foxx, "As far as I can tell Dawn enjoys being a pokemon coordinator instead of a pokemon trainer, but that doesn't mean she wants to date or even someday marry an other pokemon coordinator."

"I see, that does make sense I guess, her father wasn't a pokemon coordinator but then again he really hasn't ever been in her life either." sighed Dawn's mother.

"So does that mean you're going to work on the way you treat Dawn's friends?" asked Foxx with a smile.

"Yes, starting with you." replied Dawn's mother with a smile, "Thus if you'd like when we're done here we can get your things and you and Dawn can come stay at my place for a few days. That is if you don't need to be heading off to your next research location."

"The original plan was for us to stay here until the end of the week when we would be meeting up with Ash. From there both me and Dawn would follow him to finish up the gym's he'd not yet beaten by then and to the poke league."

"What about after that?" asked Dawn's mother actually wanting to know more about both of their plans for the future.

"Well, after that my current research takes me to the Alohan Islands, as for Dawn I've left it up to her on if she is going to come with me or remain with Ash for a little longer."

"I see, wouldn't you want your girlfriend at your side?" confusingly asked Dawn's mother as she took a few more bites of her food.

"Yes, but I also want her to be happy and able to follow her dreams." replied Foxx as he finished off the last little bit of his food. "Because my travels are not required to follow any set schedule thus I'm easily able to adjust for whatever occasion arises with her schedule."

"I see, and Dawn do you know yet what you plan on doing?" asked Dawn's mother looking over at Dawn who'd been the first to finish her breakfast as she'd just sat listening to the conversation and thus was able to eat.

"I'm not sure. Part of me wouldn't mind traveling with Foxx, while another part of me would consider traveling with Ash some more." confessed Dawn with a half smile, "Then part of me thinks I might like to come home and rest a little before traveling to one of the other regions to try out their poke contests."

"Oh." replied Dawn's mother partially shocked and partially confused.

"Well we still have a good amount of time before you have to make a decision and know this that it is your decision to make and not any of ours." replied Foxx with a smile before motioning for the waitress to bring them their check. "How about we go enjoy the pool at the hotel before we get our things and head for you place."

"I could use a little pool time but would we be allowed?" asked Dawn's mother with a raised eyebrow as the waitress set the check down and Foxx counted out the poke dollars for it and the tip.

"Yes, Foxx's parents are still staying in the hotel so we are guest of a guest of the hotel thus we are able to use the pool." explained Dawn with a smile, "I checked with the hotel last night when I went down for pillows and blankets for me and Foxx to use and before you ask no we didn't share them."

"Then I'll head home and get my swim suit and meet you guys at the pool." replied Dawn's mother as she slowly got to her feet and smiled.

With that she turned and left Dawn and Foxx together minutes before they too got up and headed back across the street to the hotel to get Foxx's parents as well as for each of them to take turns getting changed and ready for the pool.
