S5E14: Professor Rowan

After that Foxx stood to his feet before adding, "If it helps any my parents will be staying here while me and Dawn go speak with Professor Rowan."

"Why they seem like good people? Wouldn't they like to meet Professor Rowan as well?" confusingly asked Gwen with a raised eyebrow and her head tilted slightly to one side.

"Honestly, they are wonderful but unfortunately they've also made some bad decisions in their past which have lead to them having a bad reputation thus its best if they lay low while we're in the bigger cities." explained Foxx with a smile and a glance towards the kitchen before adding, "Oh and if they make a mess or break anything let me know and I'll pay you back slash help clean up."

"You've already given me more then enough money." replied Gwen with a smile.

"You sure?" asked Foxx a bit nervous.

"Yes she's sure now let's get a move on it you knucklehead." sighed Dawn as she took Foxx by the arm and began to drag him towards the door.

Once outside they walked arm in arm towards Professor Rowan's Lab, now part of Foxx was in a bit of a hurry to talk to the professor for Gwen's sake but part of him also enjoyed the time he was getting to spend with Dawn alone. Now speaking of Dawn she was in a hurry to get this whole ordeal over with so they can once more be on their way so her family can meet Foxx and he can meet them before they spend as much time together as possible before Ash shows back up. The funny thing is Foxx had caught onto her trying to rush things which only made him slow down even more until she finally realized that she was trying to rush through some alone time with him.

Upon reaching the lab Foxx slowly opened the door for Dawn before letting her take the lead seeing as this was her home region and she'd more then likely been to the lab more then Foxx, especially since this was really only his first time. Thus he looked around at all the gadgets and machines as they made their way to the far back were Professor Rowan was currently talking to one of his aids.

"Professor, sorry to bother you sir but I was hoping to ask a favor of you." softly asked Foxx with a smile after waiting his turn to speak.

"Oh, Foxx you're no bother. In fact I was wondering when you'd stop by ever since I heard you were in the region." replied Professor Rowan with a smile at the sight of them holding hands to which he added, "I also see you brought young Dawn back with you."

"Yes, sir I had indeed planned on coming here on our way to Twinleaf Town, but now I have a favor to ask of you if that's okay." replied Foxx with a smile.

"Well, we professors all have to stick together but before you tell me what this favor is I must ask your companion a question and that is Dawn what happened to that other boy you were traveling with? And wasn't he also from Pallet Town?" asked Professor Rowan with a questioning look on his face.

"Oh, he's still in the region, we're actually going to meet back up with him as soon as we get done visiting my family." replied Dawn with a smile.

"As for Ash, yes he's from Pallet Town as well but he's three years older then us and focus on being the best Pokemon Master thus he's focused on collecting all of the badges and going to the poke league." explained Foxx with a sigh.

"I see, so what is this favor you need of me Foxx?" asked Professor Rowan, "Your father didn't mention anything about you needing my help with anything and that this was actually more of a vacation like trip for you."

"Well, sir the favor is more for a friend then me." confessed Foxx as she shuffled his feet a bit nervous. "Do you remember the waitress who sang at our table last night and that got yelled at by the manager?"

"Yes, she got fired if I remember right which is a shame she seemed like a very nice girl." replied Professor Rowan, "But what does she have to do with this?"

"Well, after leaving the restaurant she let us stay in her home for the night and I wanted to help her find a new job in a field that is more to her liking." replied Foxx. "You see, she'd prefer something in the singing or theater field but she would settle for working with pokemon to make the world a happier and joyful place."

"I see, well sadly I don't have any full time openings in my lab at this moment but I can see what I can do. Have her swing by tomorrow and I can get her started with some minor things." replied Professor Rowan with a sigh as he wanted to do more but just couldn't at this time.

"Okay sir thanks." replied Foxx too excited to go tell Gwen the good news that he almost left Dawn in his dust as he turned to bolt out of the lab.

"Foxx, wait!" called Professor Rowan thus causing Foxx to freeze in place before he slowly turned around to face the professor who then added, "Now, I have a favor to ask of you."

"What can I do for you sir? Is one of the computers acting up or is the lab's portable medical table causing you issues?" asked Foxx as he looked around the lab for any sign of something not working properly.

"No, Foxx it's nothing like that and yes I know gadgets and gizmos are your specialty but I also know you have a good heart and truly care about your pokemon, thus I must ask you to take care of one that has been abandoned and isn't very trusting of humans." replied Professor Rowan as he pulled a beaten up and scared pokeball out of his pocket before holding it out and adding, "It will be a long and hard road but I believe that with your heart and the help of your pokemon that you will be able to help this little guy recover and start to trust people again."

"You can count on me sir. I wont let you down and when he's ready for a trainer I can bring him back to you." replied Foxx with a smile as he took the pokeball and stuck it into his bag.

"Unfortunately Foxx, he may eventually trust humans again but that doesn't mean he'll ever be ready to leave you for another trainer. After all he's been abandoned and abused by too many other trainers." explained Professor Rowan placing a hand on Foxx's shoulder, "Are you sure it's something you can handle?"

"Yes sir and the first thing I'll do is make him a new pokeball." replied Foxx with a smile before him and Dawn started for the exit to return to Gwen's house before continuing on their journey.
