Chris wasn't particularly interested in joining the class committee, but others seemed to think differently.

Two minutes later, a young girl nervously gathered her courage and stepped onto the stage.

"Hello everyone, my name is Daisy. I'm really happy to be your classmate. I'm good at drawing, and my favorite Pokémon is Dedenne. I'm running for the position of publicity committee member. I hope you'll support me!"

Though her speech was brief, it took all of Daisy's courage to speak. Her cheeks flushed bright red, and a faint warmth seemed to rise from her head.

Chris found it amusing. A "steaming" girl, huh?

Olivia was the first to start clapping for the brave girl who went up first.

Everyone joined in, applauding Daisy. Whether or not her speech was perfect, her bravery deserved recognition.

With Daisy setting the example, other boys and girls aspiring to be on the class committee followed.

"Hello everyone, my name is Travis, and my hobby..."

Chris sat in the last row, watching the candidates like he was observing a play.

Even in a world filled with Pokémon, some things never change—like class committees.

There were positions like the sanitation committee, responsible for keeping the classroom clean, and the cultural and entertainment committee, rarely used but still necessary.

The different positions were gradually filled, until, surprisingly, the spot for class leader was still open.

"Since a girl is the secretary of the league party, let's choose a boy to be the class leader," Olivia suggested. "That way, if there's important work in the future, we won't need to ask anyone else."

Everyone's gaze shifted between Chris and a blond, half-foreign boy known as Xavier, along with the other boys.

It seemed only the two of them were seen as potential leaders.

This world really does judge by appearances!

The handsome one, huh? Fine.

Chris remained unfazed by the attention. Being on the class committee was too much trouble for him, let alone becoming the class leader.

Dah!

Xavier's face showed no emotion, as if he wasn't involved at all.

Olivia, however, could sense what the crowd wanted.

But neither Chris nor Xavier showed any interest in taking on the role of leader.

"Why are you two so unmotivated? That's not good. College is about getting involved!" Olivia scolded.

"Since you aren't stepping up, we'll have to vote for you!" she added decisively, leaving no room for refusal.

The girls' eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Starting from the first girl on the left, vote row by row," Olivia instructed.

The first girl stood up with a flushed face and whispered, "I choose Xavier!"

Her shy demeanor made it seem like she was in the middle of a grand confession. The other girls' gazes sharpened, as if ready to challenge her choice.

As soon as she finished speaking, a loud voice boomed from beside her, "I choose Chris!"

Everyone turned to see a large, burly boy grinning sheepishly.

"Girls are the only ones voting! Boys don't have a say," Olivia sighed, rolling her eyes at him.

Laughter erupted throughout the multimedia classroom.

Chris's face darkened, and he gripped Kirlia's Poké Ball tightly.

No boys! No boys! No boys! he repeated to himself.

"I thought everyone could vote? Chris looks really capable, so I picked him," the boy mumbled, scratching his head in embarrassment.

"Next!" Olivia called out.

The second girl stood up, casting her vote for Chris.

The third girl chose Xavier.

The fourth girl picked Chris.

Out of thirty girls, the votes remained split between Chris and Xavier, each receiving exactly 15 votes. Whenever one pulled ahead, the other quickly caught up, leaving the results at a standstill.

The intensity in the room had everyone's faces flushed, as if they were fans voting for their favorite idol.

Just as it was the thirty-first girl's turn to vote, a Senior suddenly knocked on the door and walked in.

"Excuse me, is Chris in this class?"

All eyes turned to Chris, who sat in the back row, holding his handheld device. He looked up, bewildered.

"Huh? Me?" he asked, completely lost.

Chris had no idea who this Senior was.

"What do you need Chris for?" Olivia asked sharply, her gaze narrowing dangerously.

The Senior, feeling the pressure, quickly responded, "It's Professor Theodore looking for Chris."

"Theodore? Professor Theodore?" Olivia's eyes flicked toward Chris, her curiosity piqued. Could Chris be related to Professor Theodore?

"Yes, it's Professor Theodore."

"What does Professor Theodore want with Chris?" she asked, her disbelief growing.

"Professor Theodore said he's inviting Chris to join his research team."

"Join Theodore's research team?" Olivia couldn't believe what she was hearing, and neither could the rest of the class.

Theodore!

A renowned Pokémon researcher in the country, Theodore had published numerous internationally acclaimed research papers. Appointed by the president of Dragon University, he was also the youngest professor in the school's history and a master breeder who famously defeated a foreign Elite using his expertly trained Pokémon.

Just this year, he topped the China Celebrity List for the third consecutive time.

For someone like Theodore to invite a freshman like Chris to join his research team? It sounded too unbelievable.

The entire class was skeptical. Their first thought wasn't that Chris was special—it was, "This has to be fake!"

"That's what Professor Theodore said," Senior stammered. "If you don't believe me, you can call him yourself."

Without hesitation, Olivia pulled out her phone, called Theodore directly, and asked, "You want a student named Chris in my class to join your research team?"

After a moment, she hung up and looked at Chris. "Looks like it's true. Go on, this is your chance."

Though Olivia had no idea why Theodore was interested in Chris, she knew this was a huge opportunity. If Chris could seize it, it might change his life forever.

"Alright," Chris replied, standing up from his seat and walking toward the door.

As Chris exited, the classroom buzzed with excitement and disbelief.

"What the heck?! How did Chris end up on Professor Theodore's research team right after school started?"

"He must be a relative, right? He's only eighteen, like us. There's no way he's achieved anything yet."

"But I heard Professor Theodore's team never accepts people just because of connections..."

The students whispered among themselves, unsure whether to believe what had just happened. But the facts were undeniable.

"Quiet!" Olivia called out, quickly silencing the room.

She glanced over at Xavier, whose face was equally filled with curiosity.

Now that one of the candidates had left, would the vote for class leader even continue?
