Episode 0: The System Owner (3)
Felix.
This name means happy or lucky. His mother gave him this name because she wished he would remain happy even when he's alone and living a hard life.
She also wished that he would be lucky enough to leave this slum and start a wonderful life.
But ironically, he has never been happy and lucky in his life. For him, this life was boring.
Felix…was born in a slum, raised in a slum, and was living in this slum.
He has turned 18, but still, he has never left this slum.
"Life's boring." He wasn't cheerful. He has no one in this world. He was alone. He worked, ate, and slept.
That was his daily life. There was no change.
"When will I die?" He wondered as he picked up the brick and helped in the repair of the wall.
"Alert, knight! A monster horde is coming. Everyone other than the Knight, move to the bunker!"
A loud voice echoed in the area. Felix was stunned. He froze in his tracks.
He was near the wall. He could see the horde of monsters. A very dense one too.
Fear shook him. His legs trembled as his eyes widened.
He wanted to die, but facing the threat, one would still feel terror.
"What are you doing, run!" A knight pushed him and ran through the hole carrying his spear.
"I should…run.." Before he could run, a huge wolf leaped over the wall and landed near Felix.
As it saw Felix, a happy smile covered its face as it immediately jumped at him.
Felix froze. He couldn't run in time. Other knights were busy too. So no one could save him in time.
"Aa….Aaaaaa!" Only screams left his mouth as he was brutally chomped and eaten by the wolf.
----------
"Am I dead?" Felix opened his eyes.
"Where am I?" He was confused. His brain was blurred, and he remembered the pain of being bitten to death.
He shuddered. He looked at the walls. He was lying on a big circle.
[Ding!]
Then he heard a bell ringing.
[Congratulations. You are the second person to transmigrate in this body.]
[You have received a special skill.]
[One with Memories (F)]
[One with Memories (active/passive): every soul who once lived in this body, their memories will be transferred to you. You have their experiences in your body for 5 minutes.]
"Huh?" He was confused by the hologram, which he had never seen in his entire life.
But soon he faced an incredible headache. His whole head pained as if someone was stabbing him with tiny needles.
"Aaaaa!" He screamed as he clutched his head and slammed his head on the ground.
His agony wasn't heard by anyone. He bled from all his orifices. His eyes turned white.
Many memories played in his head. And all of them turned into parts and were stored in one part of the brain.
Finally, he fell unconscious. His body adapted to the sudden memories, and all his wounds healed.
After waking up, he was dumbfounded. Because various memories played in his head that didn't belong to him.
He could play each memory at will as if all those were something his brain stored dearly.
"I now understand this system a little. But still, it's a lot to take. I have taken over a body which has died two times. What if I die? What would happen?" He shook his head.
"I should move. Let's not make mistakes that those before me had made."
He walked slowly and cautiously. He played back his memories a little and figured out where to go.
He arrived at the place where Kevin had died. The whole room looked so normal that one couldn't imagine the traps it held.
"Careful." He said to himself again. "I shouldn't rush." He walked slowly and swung the spear.
It felt nice.
"I can also copy the experience…Then, I can copy Kevin's fighting experience?" Memories of two people along with their experience were perfectly stored in his brain that it could be played anytime.
He didn't move to the circle. He waited for the black liquid to turn into soldiers. The undead all marched at him.
"This…is too easy." Felix sighed. Maybe he had Kevin and Arthur memories which made him a bit confident.
As the undead marched at him, he stepped on the circular path.
While the undead couldn't make the circle budge, Felix's single foot made the whole circular path move up.
All the undead fell down. But Felix immediately jumped back as the undead fell right before him.
Some even grabbed the edge, and some landed on the ground. But Felix swung his spear and hit the undead, which caused them to fall down.
He walked to the chest, and there were still undead soldiers formed and coming at him.
He immediately opened the chest and ran through the horde.
He swung his spear widely and hit the undead as he dodged their attacks. It wasn't easy but not hard either.
He successfully escaped from the room. Finally when he escaped, the notification appeared along with a shield that formed from tiny lights.
[You have opened an F-rank chest.]
[You have obtained a Tough Shield.]
[You have opened your first chest.]
[You have been rewarded with 100 EXP and 10 Crystal Coins]
"Oh, I got a shield from this chest. So maybe this shield can be used in another room." He remembered how Kevin escaped from the arrow room.
Felix went there. He raised his shield. As arrows marched down, he tightly held the shield.
All the arrows hit the shield. But their force made Felix grunt. It was heavy. As he crouched down and moved slowly, the rate of arrows increased.
He finally reached the chest. And as he touched it, the arrows halted, and the shield turned into light.
[You have opened an F-rank Chest.]
[You have obtained a skill.]
[Bolt (F)]
[Bolt (Active): Your speed increased by 5 times for a minute]
After getting the skill, he went to the third path. There he reached a room. At the end of the room, there was a chest.
However, this room was different. There was only a straight path leading to the chest.
Beside the straight road was empty space. "It looked so deep." Felix looked below.
There were some big platforms in between the paths. It wasn't hard to guess there were traps here.
He stepped on the room for two seconds and immediately stepped back.
He waited.
After eight seconds, two walls suddenly formed and slammed into each other.
It was so sudden that no one could react in time. Unless they had inhumane speed.
Felix gulped.
"I was right." He let out a dry smile. "Why am I going through all this? Won't I just die like my predecessor?" He thought.
His life wasn't harsh. He didn't have to face threats every day. There was no bullying, and there was food. Even if it wasn't that delicious.
"Can't I quit?" He muttered. He feared death. Even if life was boring, even when he yearned for death, he still wanted to survive.
[Do you want to quit?]
[Quitting the dungeon would remove the system.]
[You will return to being a normal human.]
The words appeared. "Being a normal…human…" He grabbed his head. "God damn!" He shouted. "I am not a warrior. I am not brave. I am a coward!" He banged his head on the floor. "Do I really need power?!"
He asked.
Even with his scream, no monsters came. The whole place was eerily quiet. His heartbeat resonated. His breathing echoed.
"But…" He stood. "Being eaten by a monster. Being weak, being powerless, and being a human who can only accept death. I don't want that." He took a deep breath.
He formed a fist and lowered his head. He closed his eyes.
"Yaaa!" He opened his eyes, raised his head, and punched the air. Screaming like a madman, he ran.
"Bolt!" He shouted.
His heart pounded so heavily that it could leap out at any moment.
[Bolt effect has taken place. Your speed will increase by 5 times.]
His legs moved fast. A trail of electricity followed him as he ran. The scenery moved faster.
The huge platform came into his view. Likewise, the wall formed. The wall formed and moved at him.
Felix closed his eyes and jumped.
Bang!
As the wall closed, Felix landed on the platform.
"Hah! Hah!" He breathed heavily. "That was scary." He touched his chest and felt the beating. "I am saved." He closed his eyes and laid.
The skill was still in effect, and lightning was still generating in his legs.
Everything moved slowly for him. He could finally see how the wall formed. Blocks of light collided and mixed with each other. As they fixed up, they changed colors and turned into a huge pile of rock in the shape of a rectangle, making it look like a wall.
[Bolt effect has ended. Your speed has returned to normal.]
With this notification, time flowed normally. It wasn't as slow as before, and the air moved gently around.
"That was amazing." Felix gasped. "I haven't felt like this before. No wonder people want to get stronger." The speed, the moment, and the thrill, he has never got this feeling before.
It was addictive. He finally understood why people would go to all lengths for power.
"However…" He looked ahead. The one he passed was a small road. The next one was long. There was another platform, but it was all far.
At least 2 times farther than the one he ran earlier.
"Maybe the time the wall shows up is different." He ran on the path for 3 seconds and hurriedly jumped back.
After 12 seconds, the wall formed and clashed.
The clashing was so fast that anyone would turn into a meat paste without even realizing.
"15 seconds. I have to run exactly when the wall clashes." He stepped on the path again.
As the wall flashed, clashed and disappeared, he used the skill 'Bolt' again.
He ran as fast as he could. He didn't even breathe and ran. He poured all his energy and strength into his feet.
He literally saw the wall form and came at him. He took a leap of faith.
Bang!
"Hahhh!" His eyes widened. His chest moved as the heart pounded violently as if it wanted to come out.
Just by a hair breadth. That was too close.
He laid on the ground. His eyes were still widened. His feet still moved. And his heart still beats.
All of his muscles were tensed, goosebumps appeared all on his body and all his hair stood up.
It was so scary that it took over while five minutes for him to recover from the he shook.
"...My chest…" It hurt. "My body…" It was all numb. "Hah! Hah! Even breathing is hard."
He slowly stood up and looked at the chest. "I hope the risk I took for it is worth it." He clapped his hands and prayed over the chest before opening it.
[You have opened an E-rank Chest.]
[You have obtained an Item; Ring of Bravery]
[Ring of Bravery: This ring is the reward for your bravery. Your strength will increase by 2 points when you wear it.]
[Do you wish to equip the item; Ring of Bravery]
"Yes." The ring appeared on his fingers. And his muscles tensed and swelled. An indescribable feeling swept over him.
"This feeling is addictive." As a slum person, he has never experienced power. So he had taken liking to this new feeling.
After opening the chest, the traps had stopped working. So he didn't have to rush when leaving the room.
Now only the last path was left. As he walked there, he encountered a door.
The huge door looked impressive as it had cravings of many ancient letters.
Felix was amazed by the door. He pushed the door, and it opened without producing a sound.
The room was small. Unlike those trap rooms, this room was countless times smaller.
The walls in the room were painted black and looked smooth as if indestructible.
The ceiling was high, and the floor was comfortable to walk on.
At the end of the room, there was a throne. The throne was also simple. There was nothing drawn on it. It was just a bit big chair.
Sitting on that was a monster. It had the face of a rhino, but its body was huge and humanoid.
Its upper body was orange in color and had six packs. While its lower body was of an elephant.
Its legs were blue and thick. It had two legs and arms. But they were so thick. Five human hands would have to stick together to match that arm thickness and ten human legs to match that leg thickness of the monster.
Its two huge eyes looked almost demonic. Its pupil was pure dark as if there was no life in its body.
It had no weapon. But it looked so dangerous.
Felix, who was near the door, gulped his saliva. He stepped back and wanted to exit the room.
But the door was closed.
"Defeat the boss to exit the room."
This hologram appeared as he pushed the door.
"Defeat that monster…Is it even possible?!" Felix cried.
The monster stood and looked at Felix. It had no mouth, no nose, only two eyes. Its head was bald and shiny.
Suddenly, It charged at him. Felix, who saw this, was frozen in fear. He had never seen this scary monster in his life.
His legs trembled as he jumped. However, he couldn't jump higher than the rhino monster whose body was 3m tall.
As it neared and was about to hit him, he jumped sideways.
The rhino monster was startled and hit the door.
"Experience of Kevin!" He thought of the fighting experience of Kevin and immediately used that skill he got.
[You have used the fighting experience of Kevin. 5 mana points will be used.]
His body swelled, and strength filled his body. Different types of styles appeared in his mind as his body also seemed to remember all of those.
He immediately grabbed the spear and slammed it against the Rhino head.
The blade couldn't cut through its skin, but it made it hurt.
"Gargggagag!" It screamed. It stood and glared at Felix.
Then a laser fired from its eyes. Felix was startled, but the experience of Kevin made him react quickly.
He used 'bolt' and dodged the laser while he rushed at the Rhino and jumped. He swung the spear.
The chains separated from the spear wrapped around the monster's neck. He pulled the monster down.
His strength was enough to pull the monster down to its knees. And he jumped and stood on its head.
Then he jumped and pulled the spear. The monster was grabbing the chains in struggle.
Felix landed far, and the chains were stretched to its limit. The monster struggled.
It fired lasers haphazardly. Felix dodged the laser while pulling the chains.
"Shadow!" He utilized his skill. Shadow on his legs boiled. A hand formed, and the hand pulled the chains along with him.
Combined strength of him and shadow made the Rhino struggle.
Crack!
Its neck cracked, and its hands loosened. As they pulled the chains harder, the whole neck bone shattered and the Rhino laid on the ground.
It wasn't dead. Felix rushed to it and pulled the chains back. The chains and blade returned to the spear.
And he jumped again and used all his force to stab the blade at the Rhino eye.
Rhino monster's eyes had no eyelids, so it couldn't cover its eyes. And it couldn't block the blade with its hand on time.
Psss!
As the eye was stabbed, black blood oozed out.
The rhino turned into blocks of light and disappeared.
Felix fell on the ground. "My head!" He grabbed his head. "My body!!" As the experience he learned slowly fades away, his body which has no proper training agonized.
The body was strained and pushed to the limit, and now he was facing the consequences.
However, the savior soon came.

A portal opened before him. While a green light healed all his wounds and filled him with energy.
Standing, he felt like nothing had happened to his body.
"Finally…" With tears in his eyes, he exited the dungeon.
_____
"Finally!" In the void, shedding tears of joy, the mysterious being looked at Felix.
"Now I finally have someone inheriting the system. Now I can start the 1st trial," he raised his hands.
"Now the show will officially begin!"
The world once again glowed.
