From our earliest days, we have revered the heroes, admiring their virtuous deeds and unwavering moral compass, embracing the light they embody. Yet, as we journey through the labyrinth of adulthood, we come to understand the villains, their motivations, and the profound truth that heroes and villains are two facets of the same intricate coin. Each is bound by their own set of morals, forged by the crucible of their experiences and beliefs. The Academy [5]

"Hey! Riley"

Charlotte walked up to Riley before suddenly locking her arms with Riley's.

"Ha..hu!?", Riley was a bit flustered not knowing what to do, though her usual stoic deminoir didn't change.

"Wanna go together, we are allotted the same dorms afterall"

Charlotte looked into Riley's eyes with stars in her eyes.

Riley looking at Charlotte like she was a pup agreed although reluctantly.

"Yay, hey Olivia wanna come too?"

Charlotte then turned to a girl with dirty blonde hair and yellow eyes, her eyes which looked sharp without a bit of empathy in them slightly shook as she slowly nodded her head.

"Hmm, fine"

"Mmm", Charlotte happily nodded as her gaze drifted towards Henry–who was without any invitation getting ready to leave with them.

Charlotte only squinted her eyes before nodding and looking towards Julius–her childhood friend.

"Oh boy! Look at him staring daggers at the Rank 1", Henry chekkisly smiled as he went up to Julius.

"What do you want?", Julius asked Henry as his eyes remained fixated on Noah who was packing his notes.

"Hmm nothing much, just come with us we are about to head back to our dorms."

Julius squinted his eyes as he looked at the group Henry was in–especially Riley before he nodded and joined them.

All this while Noah was being approached by a number of cadets trying to build favorable connection with him.

Being the rank one had some special privileges like having free access to every facility in the academy and more.

Most of the people here were broke, i mean literally, the acadmy had a different form of currency in the form of merit points and these merit points are assigned individually at the start of every month, they vary according to the cadets performance in the acadmy in the previous month.

"Yo hoo! Suddenly a hand waved before Noah's face as he jumped back only to see Henry standing there, bro come with us", Henry urged, Noah was a bit taken aback but after doing that the people along with him were the classes top rankers Noah instinctively joined in with them, giving a short introduction they all in unison left the classroom, leaving the other students there to just watch their backs getting farther away with frustrated faces.

"Haa, to think that this control console was nothing but the light and air-conditioning controls, why is this fancy hologram thingy used in place of a simple remote, what's wrong with these people", Zephyr who has been away from all the fancy technology for a while grumpy looked through the hologram created by the glass table.

"This has an internet function, room controls, email, and even the ebooks needed for this semister, what is this some kind of fancy study table or something?", Zephyr tilted his head.

Ding..Dong….

"Coming!"

Suddenly his door beel rung as Zephyr left his seat about to go to the door, but then he stooped in his steps as he turned around a small smile emerging on his face as his went back to the table before tapping on the control console and opening the door cam live feed.

An hologram of a screen with a small 3D option available appeared on top of desk, in the screen Zephyr could see a robot, half his size, holding up a box with three of its mechanical arms, Zephyr seeing that it wasn't a human decided to test out a few more things, clicking on the 3D option the screen disappeared as a 3d hologram of the hallway appeared on the surface of the table.

"Woah!"

Zephyr exclaimed in shock, "this is way too realistic and detailed must wh–"

"Zephyr Fitzgerald, you have a parcel"

"Tch", Zephyr clicked his tongue as the robot loudly announced that he had gotten a parcel to the whole floor.

Tak!

Tak!

Zephyr walked up to the door before swinging it open, he snatched the box from the robot's arms before slamming the door back shut.

The robot just turned around and left–not uttering a word.

Zephyr placed the large box, half the size of his body on his bed before opening it.

Inside the box were small round objects shaped like a tennis ball and a small leather sack, they all were spacial storage devices.

Zephyr slowly took out the balls before checking their contents, Clothing, money, weapons, syringes filled with healing potions and stamina & strength replininshing potions, a bed, blankets, tents, monster and beast corpses, and some monster cores that he has hunted back in the snowy mountains.

There were even some herbs and books related to magic and combat.

And then finally there was his leather sack which had, the cursed shrine or the alter of Curses that he had picked up from the Infinity Labyrinth back in Blackthorn family estate.

"Hehe", looking at all his stuff Zephyr couldn't help but chuckle in amusement as he thought of what his future held for him.

The next day…..

Zephyr and the class were standing in the school's field and infront of them stood a man with blonde hair and a handsome face, it was their martial arts instructor–Lucas Blackwood.

"Just kill me will you", Zephyr mumbled under his breath, but as soon as he did Lucas's gaze fell on him as he flinched.

Lucas's mouth slowly opened–zephyr was sweating buckets as he didn't know weather Lucas would expose that he was his deciple, but contrary to his expectations…..

"My name is Lucas Blackwood, and from today i will be your martial arts instructor"

Everyone including the main characters were awed for some reason, 'Why? Why? What in the hell are they so awed for, this devil will kill us all, he's a monster!!!'

"But before anything–Zephyr Fitzgerald step forward"

Here it is my doom, Zephyr thought as he walked towards Lucas with a black expression.

Lucas grinned as he said.

"You have yet to recieve a weapon do you not?", Lucas asked in an amused tone.

Looking at him I nodded, seeing me nod he raised one of his eyebrows as he instructed everyone else to warm themselves up as he took me somewhere else.

"So why didn't you choose a sword, was it not to your liking?"

Lucas asked Zephyr as walked beside him, Zephyr looking forward just answered in a nonchalant tone.

"I will not be using a sword during my stay in the acadmy, that old bas—-master of mine has already taught me enough"

"Hmm i guess you are right, so why didn't you choose something like a dagger or a spear or hell even a bow, you could have learned any of those weapon arts"

As soon as those words reached Zephyr's ears his steps froze as he looked at Lucas, "I don't want to go through that again".

Lucas looked puzzlingly at Zephyr but as though he thought of something he started laughing, "haha, you think that's how they teach weapon arts, you were just a special case and same goes for your teacher"

"Yeah one of those "Special" person is currently next to me", Zephyr scoffed.

Lucas's face stiffened for a moment before he coughed dryly.

"I guess then you would like the weapon the acadmy had chosen for you", Lucas said as he quickened his pace.

Zephyr's only tilted his head questioningly as he followed Lucas, not long after they reached the weapon vault, and before it's door stood a women wearing a black outfit, seeing Lucas approaching the women bowed before handing a case over to Lucas which he took without any hesitation before asking her to leave.

Handing me the case Lucas grinned, "open it boy! You would like what you will see"

"You know I don't like surprises"

"Yeah yeah, just open it"

"Hmm", Zephyr nodded before opening the case…..

"Huh!?"
