Baiting the Nerd Fish

In this game that Will decided to play, he spent most of his days learning new things and concocting plans to lure Ader to become his mentor. He knew that Ader is a nerd for language. If not for being aware of Ader's goals, he would drown in confusion on why that guy is tipping his toes in the field of Computer Science. Although Computer Science and Linguistics are different, both touch on the essence of languages. But, both are still essentially different from each other.

Computer Science is broader than one might think. It is not only about programming. It involves everything about computers. Since computers take the heavy burden of computation from us, humans, it became integral to society. Humans might be capable of highly intensive computations, but with the dedicated purpose of calculation, efficiency is improved by computers. The processing power of a human brain is divided into trillions of operations and mathematical operations will be the least of its fundamental purpose. That is why the study of computers becomes more intensive and comprehensive as technology advances.

One aspect of Computer Science is programming and programming is strict when it comes to syntax and rules. That is why the grammatical rules, words, and syntax makes them a language as a whole - a programming language. It is needed in order for a human being to communicate with a machine. This is so to enable us to command machines at will to do our bidding.

Programming Languages are what makes Computer Science a distant relative of Linguistics.

Since Ader's brain is not capable of solving his Millenniums-old problem, he decided to employ the capabilities of technology. With that, he learned things like Computer Science. He researched every tool he could make use of.

---

Will used Computer Science as a route to shorten the distance between him and Ader, but the problem is how to get himself to become Ader's apprentice.

"I might've found the pond, but the bait is what lures the fish."

Computer Science is not what Ader is passionate about. It is Linguistics that could only arouse his passion. 'It would be weird though if I brought it up suddenly and it is really a hassle to learn Linguistic books with my tight schedule. That's why I've been preparing for 10 years. I want something that would yield more results than studying Linguistics on my own in which the probability of success is low.'

Actually, Will is gambling. He doesn't know if that Essence of Language really exists. Even though he thinks that it is an easier out, spending a decade to prepare is actually hard and strenuous. It feels like he is unnecessarily plotting something that won't bear fruit.

'I think I should just exhibit my Computer Science prowess and a bit of knowledge in Linguistics. Language falls in the subjective department of thinking so he would not disdain me for the lack of fundamentals. I might know 8 languages, but I don't believe it would impress him. What he seeks is the Origin of all Languages and not some parlor tricks.'

Time passed by. Will devoted his all to his studies. He decided to advance his studies to further courses. The school is only strict when it comes to results. Decorum and other things are not so tightly enforced. Taking leave and cutting classes are the same when it comes to a failing grade. It won't matter how eloquent your excuse is. Meanwhile, full attendance and cutting classes are the same for people who complied with the standards of results. Even if you miss a term's worth of class, your final grade will speak for you.

Most of his time was spent sitting in most of the advanced classes. That is after he studied the complete material for this term. He requested those materials himself and scheduled for the exams ahead of his peers. Will is impatient.

After a year, Will finally caught up to the Junior college students of the New Capitol University. He expedited his university experience. Now, he is 11 years old and officially 3rd Year in College. His classmates were probably uncles already. Probably most of them are ten years older than him.

Along the way to his A.I. Engineering class, Will finally bumped into Ader.

"A kid? What are you doing here? Where are your parents?"

'Ugh! Too chatty. Too many questions.'

"I'm a 3rd year of the ComSci Department." since this guy is a bit rude, then I'll repay him with rudeness.

Even though Will is aware of some tidbits in the story, he doesn't really know what Ader Wilson looked like. He is relying on the person's name to coincidentally bump with him. Little did he know that fate did his job for him.

As of this moment, Will doesn't know who this dirty-looking uncle is.

"Pffft! HAHAHAHAHA! That's a nice one. Then I am the chairman of this school. Come on let's find your parents, my class will be starting soon, not that I really care."

Will is kind of pissed. When had no human body inside the library, such emotions were null to him. Now that he has one, especially a fully functional and healthy brain, he now had the capability to express emotions.

He showed his ID to Ader to prove his identity as a student. Shock and awe appeared on Ader's face. He could not believe that one day he would encounter a prodigy in his life. Well, he is one due to being reincarnated.

He did not suspect the kid though and let him go. As he went to his class, he noticed that Will was following him. 'What the fuck! Did I imprint him? Will he call me mama soon?'

"Hey kid, you can now stop following me. I now believed you. No need to hold onto grudges. I still have a class to teach. I got no time for you. Shoo - shoo." Ader motioned his hand as if driving away some evil spirit.

"I'm heading to R308, I'm not following you." Will's stride became bigger and faster to outrun Ader. Sadly, his limbs were far shorter than Ader's. Ader being a petty adult did not allow the kid to defeat him. He also made his strides wider and faster showing his absolute pettiness against a child.

Will's eyelid twitched. He decided to become the bigger person and let Ader go first.

"Wait! Isn't my class on R308?" Ader looked at the runt beside him.

"So you're my student? A runt!" this blunt professor caused Will's whole face to almost spasm in irritation.

"Oh, you're a lecturer?"

"Eeek! Go inside, class is starting." Ader went to the podium and began his introductory lesson. He forgot to introduce himself. Upon realizing his slight mistake, he paused the lecture for a while. "By the way, my name is Dr. Ader Wilson. You could call me Dr. Wilson or Professor. I won't tell you my educational attainment, you won't achieve it anyway. Also, for female and homosexual students, if you call me Daddy, I will instantly give you a failing mark."

The students were dumbfounded by Ader's introduction speech. Some of them twitched in anger. After a while, Ader pointed at the sole kid inside the room.

"Oh! Also, that runt over there. He will be my assistant from now on, so all of your pleas and suicide notes will be handled by him. Your deaths will be by no means become my responsibility. I won't give any contact details to you so for problems and inquiries, go contact this kid. He is kind of rude, so no need to be polite." hearing this and Ader's introduction, he was surprised.

'I actually did not need to do anything to coincidentally bump into him. I don't even need to put in so much effort to become his assistant, but that is far cry from being an apprentice, but this man really has a character - a bad one.'

Will was overwhelmed with surprise that he forgot to feel angry with Ader's remark.

'Now that I found the lake, time to set up the bait. Time to lure the nerd fish.'
