Chapter 24: Battle of Trap cards!

"Mchina Force, Attack Power 4600."

"Hahahaha! This is my trump card, my most powerful monster!"

The hunter began to swell with confidence as he summoned the enormous monster. The size and attack power of the creature made him feel invincible.

Indeed, a monster with an attack power of 4600 in the DM era was quite impressive. During that time, the game environment wasn't as complex as it later became, and players had limited means of countering high-attack monsters.

Yuyu didn't know much about mecha decks, so he didn't expect the sudden appearance of a monster with 4600 attack power. A Gundam-like creature stood on the opposing field, with an array of guns and missiles pointed at his head, creating an intimidating presence.

"Attack!" the hunter yelled. "Fire!"

The huge robot unleashed a barrage of firepower at Yuyu's side. The sheer force and intensity of the attack created a spectacle, with missile trails interweaving in the air and bullets raining down like a dense shower.

Yuyu's Sparkman quickly raised his arm to activate a lightning defense, but it proved to be futile. Against a powerful monster with an attack power of 4600, his resistance was as insignificant as a sheet of paper. The intense barrage tore him apart in an instant, leaving nothing but fragments.

(SparkMan: I knew it! this appearance was never going to go good.)

The hunter gloated. "And I still have Covington, who hasn't attacked!"

[Commander Covington, 1000 attack power]

"Go, Covington! Attack directly! I win this duel!"

"You activated my trap card—Hero Mark!"

Yuyu activated a trap card from his field, causing a beam of searchlights to pierce through and project a high-hanging circular mark in the air, representing the letter "H" for hero.

"The Hero Mark is a trap that activates when a monster on my side is destroyed by battle," Yuyu explained as he retrieved his deck from the duel board. "I can now select an Elemental Hero below level 4 from my deck and I Special Summon 'Elemental Hero Avian'!"

A light green whirlwind swept across the field, and a green hero with snow-white wings emerged, kneeling before Youyu with arms crossed in a defensive posture.

"Hey, Covington's attack power is the same as Wingman's defense power. Attacking won't make a difference," the hunter grumbled. "I'll set a card and end my turn."

In the Duel fighting rules, cards with the same attack power would battle each other and be destroyed together. However, battling heros with the same attack power and defense power would yield no meaningful result; neither side would be destroyed or take battle damage.

The hunter looked at Yuyu with a scowl. "You've regained some life points. But in the next round, my mecha unit will surely eliminate you."

Yuyu shrugged, showing no signs of panic despite the overwhelmingly unfavorable situation.

"It's my turn. I draw a card." Yuyu casually drew a card, although his skill had already been activated at this moment.

In this excerpt, the duel continues between Yuyu and the rare card hunter. Yuu activates the magic card "Dark Magic Curtain" from his hand, which allows him to special summon the Dark Magician from his deck by paying half of his LP (Life Points). Yuyu's LP decreases from 1000 to 500.

The rare card hunter analyzes the situation and realizes that even though Yuyu has summoned the Dark Magician, his LP is low, and the hunter's Mecha Unit has higher attack power. The hunter decides to attack Yuyu directly and declares an attack.

However, Yuyu has set a trap card called "Wall of Disruption" on his field, which reduces the attack power of all monsters on the opponent's field. The hunter's Mecha Unit's attack power decreases from 4600 to 3000.

But Yuyu isn't done yet. He activates another trap card called "Aid Shooting," which increases the attack power of Elemental Hero Avian. The hunter counters with a trap card called "Trap Jammer," intending to negate and destroy Yuyu's trap card. However, Yuyu reveals his face-down card, "Whirlwind of Wings," which invalidates the effect of the trap card activated by the opponent.

Yuyu combines the attack power of Elemental Hero Avian with the Dark Magician's attack power, increasing it to 3500. The Dark Magician retaliates against the card hunter's Mecha Unit, destroying it. The rare card hunter's LP decreases from 2000 to 1500.

Panicked and desperate, the hunter searches for a counterattack but fails to play a card or defend properly. Yuyu seizes the opportunity and commands the Dark Magician to attack the Covington, reducing the rare card hunter's LP to 0.

The duel concludes with Yuyu emerging as the victor….
