Prologue

Existence is incredibly complex and yet simple.

It is layered like an onion, the outermost edges leading to the void, and beyond it, is the unknown and some speculate the source of everything. Universes are at the very core, separated by thin veils that are called by names such as space, time, or dimension...

The entirety is named Omniverse, it is infinite and eternal.

Everything in the Omniverse is conceptual before it is mental and then becomes physical. Universes are the manifestation of Physical, Planes are the manifestation of mental, Unity is the simultaneous manifestation and source of conceptual thus they say All is One and One is All.

Where did it all come from? Where is it all going towards? Will there be an end to eternity? Does an end to eternity even have a meaning? There is no answer but some wise sages say it like this, "All begins in mystery and ends in mystery, So why bother with it? Just enjoy the ride and all will be known one day."

As I died, I glimpsed at the infinite and I was stunned, not by its vastness, but by its beauty. Such perfect balance.

Then I found myself in an unknown realm of complex colors and shapes, I was confused but at the same time, I felt it was all part of me. Manifestations of who I was and even who I was going to be, it was all before me, in shapes and colors.

I had a strange sense of comprehension, I somehow understood that is all well and who I was.

I was a Planar Lord or had become, or was going to be someday... Time had no meaning, you see. All was an eternal present.

You might ask, what is a Planar Lord?

Reality is made of countless planes of existence and each one is ruled by an entity, no matter how great or insignificant the plane may be, it will have a lord or overseer of sorts.

And I was a lord of a plane at the moment, that was all I knew and mattered.

Then I felt it, tendrils of darkness seeking to devour me, and not just me, but everything. Was it devouring? Perhaps the better word would be becoming, it sought to become everything by devouring everything.

A name echoed in my being, 'The Void.'

I was not going to let it be, so I pushed back but it was persistent. It escalated into a struggle, then into a fight.

It was hard and long, but I won and pushed the tendrils out of this plane of shapes of colors that were part of me. It felt almost like getting rid of a nightmare, it was a relief.

Then I heard it, the cry of other planes, all in battle. I wished to help and somehow, I knew what to do.

So I found myself at other planes, some were like mine, others were filled with patterns, some were just empty, there were countless types and varieties, each unique and beautiful in its own way.

I pushed the tendrils out of some, and others were too consumed and I was helpless to do anything. The Planar Lords of the Planes I saved joined me and spread to do the same, in time, the tendrils were gone but some Planes were lost to the void.

From the planes that were lost, darkness poured into the Omniverse, they were like gates that led the void in. Their Planar Lords become vessels of darkness, their Planes, realms of darkness.

Evil spread across countless universes, seeking to conquer and devour all.

All Planar Lords gathered and sought to stop it, each Planar Lord had the responsibility of protecting many universes.

I discovered universes I had thought to be fictional but then again, I had realized that thought creates reality; The imagination of higher-level beings, forms and creates the reality of lower-level beings who then begin to evolve and become higher-level beings themselves so in a way, whatever we think about is real somewhere in the Omniverse.

When many beings believe and think of the same thing, they create it on the same level as themselves, birthing to a new universe.

Then there are those who are connected to other universes and get visions.

In any case, I found out fictional universes exist just like any other universe, just on different levels of reality compared to my previous one, some higher and some lower.

I had memories of life on Earth, yet I was something more than the person in my memories, but that didn't matter, the information was there somehow. I knew of these worlds and felt their existence, so I took responsibility for them.

Why? Because I had a general idea of what to expect and what I had to deal with in these worlds.

I wasn't the 1st to dive into the work, another did and returned after failure, a universe was lost to the void. The 1st small skirmish occurred and the void won.

Then another and another, despair took hold but failure taught us things.

Planar Lords descending as they were in a universe led to its destruction since a universe could only hold so much energy. So we had to leave behind our true selves and control an avatar through either possessing and healing a newly deceased body or creating one, which was extremely difficult, while only bringing a blessing or item to help us within moderation considering the universe, lest it collapses due to violation of basic reality laws.

One could not just bring planet-destroying wolds to a universe smaller than a planet, sometimes, nothing could be brought and one had to go without any help. There were countless types of universes, after all.

We learned the void usually manifested as an unassuming black orb held by a dark entity of some sort, corrupting him and empowering him subtly. Destroying the orb would save that universe from the ill fate of being devoured by the void. After destroying the orb, the Planar Lord had to form shields over the universe to protect it from invasion again.

Planar Lords were immortal and undying as long their plane existed, so we didn't have to worry about death or anything of the sort, this was a great advantage for we could work without fear and holding back.

We failed a few more times till I thought I had enough, if we failed anymore, not only us but all of existence would be destroyed since with each failure the void became stronger and tipped the balance in its favor.

So I decided it was time I stepped in.

I had been recognized as one of the leaders for I was one of the 1st to have defeated the void in my plane. If I failed, it would be a very disastrous blow.

Every Planar Lord had a special ability, and the one named Celdir was close to being omniscient, he knew almost everything.

After choosing the universe, I had to visit Celdir and learn when and where the orb would approximately be at. This was how my journey had to begin.

Time for skirmishes was over, it was time for war. The true war between Planar Lords and the void.
