Star Blaze

White Ice. This was a special affinity within the Elson House much like the Star affinity within the Norton House.

Few children awakened this miraculous affinity but those who did were undoubtedly geniuses. The affinity of Ice was like every other where its user would have to pour in Essence to increase its potency or in its case, its temperature. Which meant if the Battlesoul master wished for a colder Ice attack, he would have to pour in more Essence.

White Ice also worked like this but with a twist. Instead of starting from the standard temperature of 0 degrees Celsius, White Ice already reached a bone chilling -273 degrees and from there the user would only need to exert his/her Essence into increasing its power. This was also how the Star affinity worked, except the users started with a fire that burned as hot as 100 degrees and would grow hotter as they advanced in rank.

Leonel grumbled on the inside but still decided to attack. Star's Warmth burned a considerable amount of his Essence but it wasn't unbearable, after all, he only needed to guard against his opponent's ice. He knew that Noah had only pitted him against this girl because she was someone around his level of strength, the transmigrator wanted the boy to bring out his full potential with this fight, allowing the world to see that Leonel was a genius in his own right. So wishing to not disappoint the person he considered brother, the boy focused on putting 150% of his focus on the battle. His eyes steeled with determination as he stared at the Elson daughter and dashed forth with even more speed than his last attempt.

Monica was also grumbling on the inside, knowing full well that the boy named Noah had made his friend fight her so that she could be his whetstone. But she didn't voice it out because, honestly, the silver haired boy scared her. So she could only wave her staff in the air and execute her Battle arts, aiming to vent her frustration on her opponent. "White Snow: Ice Feather Dance." At that moment, feather shaped ice shards materialized around her radiating deadly sharpness and darting towards the incoming Leonel, moving about in a unique and unpredictable manner.

The receiver of the attack grunted and responded with an attack of his own. "Constellation's Wrath: Star Blaze Storm!" His spear erupted in flames that crept up to his hand while he released Essence slashes that burnt with a ferocious blaze to intercept the attack.

"Ho?" Noah's brows rose as he stared at that attack. If one removed the flames, that attack was basically the Gale Sword Battle skill within the Violent Storm Sword Battle Art. He then realized that Luke had simply given him the neutral and derived form of the Constellation's Wrath, or maybe the Violent Storm Sword was the original and the Constellation's Wrath was the derived version. Anyways, that didn't matter to Noah. He would forever be grateful that Luke had risked so much to helping him survive that day.

Seeing Leonel's use of the Battle art, though, got him wondering. Whenever he combined the Battle Art with his Gravity Essence, he wasn't actually combining it. He was just increasing the strength of his weapon, he had never tried integrating the Gravity Essence itself, and he had always just used neutral Essence to execute the Violent Storm Sword. 'I wonder what I'd create. If I infused Space Essence into the attack, would the slashes also be able to… teleport?'

But those were questions for another time. For now, he focused on the fight that was occurring before him.

Leonel had finally gotten close enough to the girl yet she seemed to possess multiple moves up her sleeve. Her staff shone with brilliance as she smiled calmly at his approaching figure before pointing up. "Rise, Ice Guardians." At her command, two beings appeared before her. One being a large 5 meter tall phoenix while the other was a 2 meter tall armored woman dressed in traditional armor with two swords in her hands. Both beings seemed to be made of ice, yet the power they released allowed them to be placed at the 6th Level of the Intermediate Stage.

The girl quickly jumped to the top of the phoenix and making it retreat to the sky while the armored ice woman charged at her opponent.

"Oh no you don't." Leonel shifted to the side, dodging the ice woman's attack before kicking at her legs and making her lose her balance. He then turned his attention to the departing phoenix and flung it at the phoenix's wing with power, piercing through it and interrupting its take off. He suffered a bit for that act, gaining a sword to his thigh from the fallen ice woman but he merely grit his teeth and launched a vicious kick at her, sending the icy being backwards.

He then executed his Shooting Star, appearing beside the phoenix and retrieving his spear before slicing at the wing with the Stellar Arc, cutting the entire wing off and disabling his opponent's source of transport.

"White Blizzard!" Monica panicked, not imagining the boy to receive such a wound at the cost of preventing her summon to take flight. Her White Ice Essence spread out and materialized into a blizzard filled with multiple absolute zero ice shards that threatened to tear at his skin.

"Fuck." Leonel cursed as he felt the shards dig into his skin, leaving signs of frostbite and showing just how effective and insanely cold they were. He let his Star's Warmth run at maximum power before executing another skill within his arsenal. "Astral Rays!"

The bright and golden rays of Essence blasted forth, piercing through the blizzard attack and pushing Monica back. And while this happened, he was already driving the remaining Essence he had into his spear before he rushed forward. "Constellation's Wrath: Star Blaze Thrust!"

The girl's eyes widened. A drop of sweat rolled down her nose bridge as she glanced at the spear that was merely an inch away from her forehead. Thankfully, Leonel had been nice enough to cancel his Battle skill on time or she wasn't sure if even the defense mechanism of the coliseum would have been enough to save her.

The fight was over. Leonel had won once more.
