"I wanted to ask if you needed anything else from me for the West Coast report." she said, keeping her tone much neutral.
"No, just make sure everything is ready by tomorrow morning." Ethan said as he shook his head.
"Yes, sir, Are you all right?" Nora said, pausing for a moment before adding again.
"I'm fine. Get back to work, Nora."
Ethan said as his gaze was softened slightly, though his expression remained much guarded.
The soft beeping of the heart monitor filled the hospital room as Nora sat by Hazel's bedside, holding her grandmother's weak hand.
"Grandma, you scared me," Nora whispered, her voice was breaking.
"I have been scaring you for years, darling. It is practically a hobby at this point." Hazel said as she opened her eyes slowly, her weak face was showing a weak smile.
"This is not funny. You collapsed. They said it was your heart." Nora said as he chuckled softly, despite everything in her throat.
