End Of Second Year

Following Damon's attack, the roof of the cavern collapsed, falling down over both the wolf and Damon.

The wolf died, pierced by a stalactite and the fall of heavy rocks that embodied the roof, while Damon survived under the protection of his shield.

Following the events, Chief Zhang Kong also arrived at the location of the fight with the aim to rescue Damon, only to be left dumbfounded, finding the dead wolf under the collapsed cavern and the unscathed Damon, who had his Goldveil shield floating beside him.

The students outside of the cavern who escaped were all saved but were given a strict lecture, pointing out their embarrassing behaviour, before Zhang Kong arrived with Damon at their camp and led him to one of the main tents to learn what actually transpired within the dark walls of the cavern.

"...so in short, you are saying you were able to defend yourself with this defensive equipment of yours and later used a talisman to attack the roof and had it collapse on the wolf to kill it?"

Zhang Kong summarised the statement that Damon gave him as he looked at the computer screen in front of him, showcasing the details about Damon as recorded by the government, where his status as an advanced ranking hunter along with the name of the corporation under his name with a multi-billion dollar valuation was clearly displayed on the bright screen.

'The fuck! Since when did teenagers begin to have these under their name?'

Zhang Kong was just dumbstruck looking at the screen, but he didn't show it on his face as he kept looking at Damon with a frown.

'...His teachers did mention his backstory of being an orphan, but what kind of orphan is this?'

The military and teachers were keeping an eye on the students from afar, observing the movements where the teachers obviously gave a high evaluation of Damon along with his sad backstory.

Zhang Kong's eyes twitched as he recalled how sympathetic the teachers were, and their words also moved him.

Damon, who sat in front of Zhang Kong in the tent where only the two of them were currently present, his face remained calm, but his heart still beat faster under the gazes of the military man.

When Zhang Kong arrived, Damon deliberately displayed the shield to the chief. This wasn't a mistake; he did so intentionally to make things easier for him.

Surviving the fallen cavern is something he couldn't explain with any normal or abnormal lies, so he chose to let the military instructor know about his possession instead of lying to report his survival, but still lying on the accounts of the traces of fire element, which was something he couldn't hide with the name of possessing a Fire Talisman.

Talismans are a kind of magical equipment that look like slips of paper enchanted with magic, a one-time usable item that is very popular amongst mages but too expensive for many to purchase.

The lie was only to explain the fire magic traces found in the cave, which the military instructor bought. After all, it sounded logical, and a man who can possess such a fancy defensive piece of equipment, how could he not possess some talismans?

Zhang Kong believed Damon's words; otherwise, how could Damon use a fire spell when being a lightning mage of primary level? He couldn't possibly have dual elemental talent, which only once in a century kind of individual could possess, could he?

With Zhang Kong buying his lies, Damon also doesn't need to worry about getting exposed, as even if the military ordered some kind of investigation, there would be nothing they could find. Not to mention, for such a small matter, they won't pursue Damon at all. After all, his act was all in self-defense. Even if it was killing a beast that is considered a military property that could get some charges against him, the military won't do so, knowing it was their fault. Rather, they would go after the summoner that was in charge of controlling the beast, on how the man had the beast go berserk.

Damon also didn't intend to hide his wealth under the eyes of Zhang Kong. After all, it would just backfire on him, not to mention there is nothing for him to hide from anyone. He never intended to hide his wealth from the beginning. After all, it is inevitable for it to be exposed to the world. Even before this, if someone would have asked, he would have disclosed his identity, but why would anyone ask an orphan who still attends high school whether he is a billionaire or not?

No one asked him, so he also never bothered to expose it. He isn't someone to boast about the fortunes he made anyway. After all, with the mercenary organisations that now work under his name, he now has the foundation that he needed to be safe.

The 'interrogation' came to an end with finally the chief acknowledging Damon's capabilities and giving the entire class an A grade, and Damon alone was given an S+ grade for his actions.

The class, though given the grade of A, the military instructor still didn't go easy on any and openly despised the behaviour of the class on how they acted when they faced the beast, but still upheld the promise of granting the class an A grade.

Unlike in the novel, Zhang Kong didn't give Damon any defensive artefact, nor did Damon press for it, as he already has better equipment, and he can buy any if he ever wished for.

The day finally ended with the students finally returning to the main city, but before leaving, Damon once again contacted Zhang Kong with a demand that made Zhang Kong hesitant to accept.

Damon wished for Zhang Kong to contact the Zu Clan/Family, the family to which he originally belonged, with some business proposals for the Clan.

The Zu Clan is one of the strongest clans in all of China and also one with very great authority in the world on par with the Mu Clan but stronger on the political front, holding positions in the council, mage association, and even the holy city.

The Zu clan was a connection Damon couldn't miss contacting and wanted to have the clan as his ally.

When he requested this to Zhang Kong, the man didn't know how to respond. Damon was a capable kid who was able to gain such a great financial position in the world on his own if he were to believe Damon's words, but still, even if Damon has such a great position, the Zu Clan still may not accept his proposals.

The clan is an ancient powerhouse and has its own demands on a different level, where they might not consider Damon and his company worthy to be their partners. Growing up in the clan at the centre of all wealth and prosperity, Zhang Kong knew this better than anyone but still nodded with Damon's wish and contacted his family through a letter while also having his subordinates collect a detailed report on Damon, whose records had piqued his curiosity.

Weeks passed, and the Zu Clan's response came, where they expressed their desire to listen to proposals from Damon, which went perfectly, earning Crown Group a strong ally profiting both sides.

As the days passed, Damon also began to reflect on his abilities. When facing humans or practising under the safe environment, Damon grew confident in his abilities, but when he faced the beast-like spirit wolf, his pathetic display left a distaste on his tongue.

Until now, Damon was mainly focused on his cultivation and control over his spells. After all, he can just use only 4 spells, one of each element, and has no other abilities of his own besides that, so he didn't bother to go on some real practical training. But this examination opened his eyes and had him witness the true power of a beast, making him change his approach to strength.

While he still focuses mainly on cultivation, he began to appoint teams of hunters from different cities and have them join him and tutor him on the practical parts to travel and hunt the outskirts of the city. Different groups for different elements, but all strong and capable people who kept on teaching Damon more stuff on survivability and facing the beasts.

His speed of cultivation slowed down, but still, the exposure to the wilderness was worth it for Damon.

Months passed as Damon's wealth and strength grew rapidly finally completing his second year at high school while also adding two inches more to his height with more muscular frame and handsome face.
