Along a windless night on a street devoid of any lifeforms, Jiang Chen was slowly walking down the street. Although he seemed like your normal teenager, Jiang Chen was out of the ordinary due to his experiences during his life. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a storefront with the glass broken. He walked over to the store and peered in. The store was a jewelry store but all the displays were broken and there were two people inside crowding over someone.

"Help!"

There was a girl around the age of 15 to 16 and 2 people with masks were trying to rip the clothing off the girl. Anyone with a brain will make out that the people were trying to do something to the girl.

"Help, please save me!"

The girl had streams of tears on her face as she tried to make her way towards Jiang Chen.

"Hey, you shouldn't do this!" Jiang Chen shouted as he took a poor defensive pose that he learned in a program that his school held a year ago.

"Kid, go back home to your mother. We don't have time for your stupid nonsense."

Jiang Chen was already out of shape because of his weak heart. His head went blank and just charged straightforward. One of the masked people swept his leg and made Jiang Chen fall on his back. Jiang Chen pushed himself up and threw a hook at the masked person. The masked person pulled out a taser and shocked Jiang Chen's left chest right above the heart.

"Yo man, let's go! The cops are here! I don't think that you would like your ass back in jail for a few years!"

The two masked people ran out of the store as sirens filled the air. Jiang Chen's sight began to darken and soon he collapsed from the pain on his chest. The next thing he knew he was in a white room with a constant beep. He looked to the side and saw a policewoman sitting in a chair.

"Hello, Jiang Chen, My name is Zhi Rou. I am the Deputy Chief of the Police Force. I would like to thank you for the heroic act of protecting an innocent girl."

"No problem. I was just doing my duty as a citizen,"

"We will come and get you after you rested to give us a description of what the criminals looked like."

"Ok."

Jiang Chen closed his eyes and the sound of the monitor started to go flat as he blacked out. The next thing he knew, he was in a foreign room with his body aching all over.

"Where in the world am I?"

Jiang Chen looked around the room and a bed with a nightstand next to it. The room looks like it hasn't been used for a long time as a layer of dust was on the nightstand.

Jiang Chen walked in a straight line when he walked out of the rainforest and onto a road. About 50 meters away, a luxurious carriage pulled by bloody-red horses.

"Get the fuck out of the way, peasant!" shouted the coachman.

"What if I don't want to?"

Jiang Chen sneered. With the newly acquired knowledge of cultivation, Jiang Chen saw that the coachman didn't seem much of a threat.

"Do you know who you are trying to block, kid?"

"What is taking so long!?"

An arrogant female voice came from inside the carriage.

"Miss, there is a lowly peasant blocking our path, but I'll take care of it," answered the coachman, trying to curry favor with her.

"Never mind, I'll do it," said the female as she slowly stepped down from the carriage.

Jiang Chen looks at the female and saw a beauty that can cause people's heart to be snatched that was around the age of 16. The most surprising thing was that the girl was at Body-Tempering Stage 9 and was on the brink of breaking into Qi Gathering.

"What are you looking for? If you want money, here is one silver coin to buy some clothes for yourself. We are in a hurry."

The girl flicked a small spirit stone at Jiang Chen and proceeded back into the carriage. Although Jiang Chen was afraid of being smashed into bits by the girl, his possession of a system reassured him.

Even though his clothes are in rags due to walking in the rainforest for hours, Jiang Chen still had his handsome face.

"Get lost now!" said the girl as she entered the carriage and the red horses stormed past Jiang Chen.

"A royalty like that will never stay at a remote place and probably lives in a large city. I should follow their carriage trail to get to a city," thought Jiang Chen as he bent down to pick up the crystal.

Jiang Chen slowly followed the carriage imprints on the road. When the sunset beyond the horizon, he camped out on a cavern for shelter. There are 10 stages to Body-Tempering with each of them making the body more durable for cultivation in the later stages. Morning rose with the sound of birds, Jiang Chen successfully reached Body-Tempering Stage 1 and was officially a cultivator.
