CHAPTER 40- A GAUCHE END

On the other hand, Rin and Ma Roo were at the apartment. Ma Roo hand bandaged Rin's hands because of her wounds. "Ma Roo, I wish I could heal your wounds like I did." Rin said as she attempted to touch his wounded lips but he held her hand tightly before she could touch him. "Rin! Let's cut ties." Ma Roo said remembering the last words Ma Suk had told him. He didn't want her to go through any suffering. "What do you mean by cutting ties?" Rin asked. She didn't know what cutting ties meant. "I mean go back in the sea, where you came from. Let's end things here and never meet again. I'm tired." Ma Roo said looking down on the floor.

"Ma Roo, you are lying, right. If you are angry at me. Just scold me. I'm fine with it. Tell me you are lying." Rin said. "Why would I lie to you? I have never loved you." He said. "What are you talking about? What about the bear in your Rin with the flipping heart? The white flowers in the kitchen. Everything shows you love me." Rin said thinking Ma Roo was in some kind if prank though she knew it wasn't a prank. Simply, she just didn't want to believe it. "Yeah, I wanted to try out how loving a non-human would be but when I tried it was just boring. I figured out that I still love Mi Na." Ma Roo said as he dragged Mi Na into his conversation.

"Ma Roo, what is wrong with you? Even after everything. I just don't understand what's wrong with humans. Is it because of Ma Suk. Ok, I'll obey you from now on." She pleaded. "It's not that. You are younger than me. Our rules don't work like in the sea. I don't love you. Even taking care of you is a huge expense. You such a nuisance." He said. "Ma Roo, if you mean it, say it while looking in to my eyes. Ma Roo, ok, just let me stay for two days. I proms I'll not bother you even for a single day." She begged. "I know you are just pretentious; all you want is me to tell you 'I love you' so that you can stay on land." Ma Roo said, actually he didn't mean an of what he had said at all. He just wanted her to be safe.

"Ma Roo, you told me it's okay to let our emotions control us one time when I was crying. I also have emotions; don't you think that saying those words that stab me is dangerous. I am not meant for being controlled by my emotions but I control my emotions. Do you think it's easy? Is it easy not to cry when you want to cry, to be angry when you want to be angry. To put on a smile or supress you own emotions just because if you don't people somewhere will die because you didn't supress my own feelings. I am sick f everything too. I wish I was born normal just like you. You the only thing that gave me a reason to be here today, if you leave me. I don't actually know what I'll do." Rin said with tears welling up her eyes but she knew crying was useless.

"Just leave or else…" Ma Roo stopped in the way. "Or else what?" Rin was eager to know. Her orange eyes were watery now. "I might not be able to let you go." He didn't speak that out aloud. He stood up and grabbed her hand by force. This was the only last resort. He took her to the door and tossed her out in her cold pyjamas. "Ma Roo! Open the door!" Even though how many times Rin entered the passcode. Ma Roo pushed the door hard from inside with his strength that she couldn't push it to enter.

Ma Roo inside sobbed but didn't want to see her die just because of his love. Rin squatted leaning against the door while Ma Roo leaned against the door too while standing. Rin cried, this time, she couldn't hold back her tears. As soon as she let her tears fall, it started to rain.

At Saet Byul's parent's side, "Where are we going to get 15 million dollars?" Saet Byul's mother cried. "Even after selling everything we own and get loans. We won't be able to make it in time." She added on with her face dunk in her palms. "I know just a way to get it." Saet Byul's father stood up. "Where are you going? Saet Byul is still inside." She said. "I have to get that money." He said.

-It was now a few hours to enter the new year- (In short 2 days later.)

Ma Roo walked to Saet Byul's mom apartment with a shopping bag, he attempted to knock but stopped in mid-air and decided to go but at that same time, Saet Byul's mom was also just coming out. "Oh, Ma Roo" she said in surprise. Her eyes had black bags under them. "I thought you'd be out, so I decided to leave but is Saet Byul in there." Ma Roo asked. "No! Saet Byul… she's…" The poor mm couldn't finish but just burst into tears. Ma Roo knew something was off seeing the lady cried when he asked about Saet Byul, "Calm down and tell me! What happened to Saet Byul?" He was impatient now. "She was …into an …accident …and is in a critical condition …now in the hospital." She said. When Ma Roo heard the news, he dropped the bag down.

The mom told him the whole story, Ma Roo's eyes were watery but didn't want to cry because if he did the lady would also cry. "Wait, here! I am coming back." Ma Roo went to his apartment and came in a minutes. "let's go! I want to see her." Ma Roo grabbed his shopping bag and went to the hospital with the lady.

He found Saet Byul's father sitting beside his daughter in the hospital room where she was on the life supporting machine. "what are you doing here?" Jung Il Shik was surprised to see Ma Roo here. Ma Roo didn't answer but instead also sat down beside Saet Byul. "Didn't you contact your sister or nephew?" He asked Jung Il Shik while looking at the unconscious Saet Byul. "Traitors! They turned me down. I never thought I wasted all my energy on people like them." He chuckled while answering. "Your brat! You've got to wake up soon or else I'll never let you to come to house again." Ma Roo saud in tears.

Jung Il Shik felt guilty seeing the scene. "Ma Roo! Actually, I want to tell you something." He said looking down. "No, don't!" Ma Roo said and slid his hand inside his coat's pocket. He took out the familiar bracelet. 'the power brake'. "Take this. If you sell it legally, you might be able to get more than 12 million dallars." He stuck into Jung Il Shik's hand. "I don't deserve this at all. Actually I have hat mermaid girl. I am sorry.!" He said in one breathe and sighed feeling relieve.

"What do you mean? Why do you have her? I told her to leave." Ma Roo was agitated. "Actually, when they said that Saet Byul needed a lot of money for the surgery alone, I thought if I exposed her identity scientist of different countries would offer money to make research about her. I sent my men to capture her but recently she was following you around when they caught her but she hasn't eaten anything since we caught her or said anything." He said. "Where is she now? She's going to die." Ma Roo was anxious and angry at the selfish man.

"I have called all my men who have been watching over her but none of them has answered my calls. I think something is wrong. Let's go!" He grabbed his coat swiftly and put it on in the same manner as said. Ma Roo stood up and followed him. Jung Il Shik drove the car and got out of town, where he went, there were barely any cars except for the black van they bypassed. "Strange, this place has no cars especially at night." Jung Il Shik said but Ma Roo said thing but was scratching his knuckles from anxiety that they were red now from

At an abandoned warehouse, the white Lexus parked. The gents got out and ran inside. After running up a few flights, they found five men beaten to pulps all on the ground crying in pain with all kinds bruises and wounds. "what happened? Where is the girl?" Il Shik asked. "She's gone." One said in pain. "What do you mean she is gone?" Ma Roo held the man who spoke by collar. "Several men came here and told us that their boss wants the girl dead. They came in a black van. They are the ones who did this to us." He said nervously.

Ma Roo stood up and knew just the person who could do this, "It's Ma Suk." The two phrased it on the same time. "That means that black van…" Ma Roo said. Ma Roo ran out quickly and entered the car and drove off without waiting for Saet Byul's father.

Without fastening seat belts, Ma Roo raced his car. Luckily the van was driving at a normal speed unsuspectingly and the Lexus was faster than the van. He started seeing the van from a far. "It's there!" Ma Roo murmured to himself and increased the speed which was already at its maximum. At the car's maximum, Ma Roo knocked into black van. "Who the heck is that? Is he looking for his death?" The bald man who was driving was raged.

10 men got out of the car with one holding Rin's hands together, so she didn't escape but she had no intentions of escaping till she saw Rin get out of the white Lexus. "Ma Roo, let goof me!" She started struggling to get out of the tall man's grip. "Let go her you bastard." Ma Roo punched the man. The man stood up and punched the young boy heavily two times he did making him spit blood. "Young boy, you lucky today! I am not in the mood. If you leave quietly and enter your car and drive off. I'll let you live." The bald man said with a creepy look on his face holding Ma Roo by his collar.

"Sir, that guy, the boss told us if we see him, we kill him immediately." A timid guy said from behind after looking at Ma Roo's picture on his phone. "I was going to let you go but I guess I was wrong." He said with a chuckle. "Let her go! Take me instead." Ma Roo said indifferently. "Brave young man but the boss paid us." The man laughed hysterically seeing the boy bluff. Two men had grabbed Rin stopping her from running. She struggled. She cried seeing the men gang up on Ma Roo beat him up. "Ma Roo!" Rin shouted several times. Because she was crying, it was raining but that didn't stop the men from beating Ma Roo. The bald man took out a dagger from his pocket. "position him for me properly." He said as he licked the knife.

Two men made the bruised Ma Roo stand up upright holding him. The men came and stabbed Ma Roo in the lower abdomen and the chest and then twisted the knife. Rin couldn't hold it in anymore and was in rage now. "Stop it!" Rin shouted in red with her eyes fiery red. she couldn't possibly defeat the men because of her weak and fragile physique. The earth started crumbling. "What's wrong with her eyes?" The men didn't remember her eyes this red. The bald man changed to see the girl. "Rin, don't do it." Ma Roo didn't want to see her disappear. With blood flowing out of her abdomen and lips, he still struggled to stop Rin from using her powers but it was already too late.

Rin shouted throwing the men a few meters away even some tossed and knocked in to the cars which lights were left on. "What was that? She is not normal boss. I am leaving," The men started entering the car. The boss wanted to stay but he couldn't risk it so he entered their van and they drove off. Rin fell on her knees feeling weaker than she has ever been. She spewed purple blood. Ma Roo with his wounds crawled to where she was and held her. "Rin, I am sorry. This is all my fault for being such a coward." He said with tears. "No, it's mine." She smiled weakly.

Amidst the rain, the two held each other crying. "Ma Roo, I think I am dying." She chuckled feebly. "I always wondered why mermaids who didn't get to find love still didn't want to go back in the sea but it's quite hard. I now found the answer. Leaving you is the same as dying. So dying is better. Ma Roo, go and get medical attention, I think there is a town not far from here." She said. "No, I won't leave you." He said in tears. "But it's no use I am still going to die. It's only a few minutes to when I left the sea." She said seeing from some far fireworks in the city.

She came on the beginning of the year and it was now. "If it's dying, then we will die together. Rin, I am sorry I said it to late but I love you so much." He said in tears holding her tighter, he smooched at the forehead slightly but it was too late now, her lower body started vanishing into pink smog to her head. Finally, the fog soared to the sky, Ma Roo tried to get grip of it but in vain. Ma Roo cried in despair and started spewing blood too. He had already lost a lot of blood so his sight started blurring. He laid down slowly. Car tire screeching and someone calling his name were the last things he heard.
